- 950 hp, 730 ft-lbs of torque, & 8000 rpm night after night, demands one overbuilt Sprint car. We built this one from the ground up with huge help from folks all over the industry. The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum raffles one every year to raise money, and they're worth the best of the best. Follow along while our team drops the engine into a Race-Ready EMI Chassis.
Thanks to the sprint car folks around Speedway Motors, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and all the vendors who donated parts.
The car was raffled on 12/18/2020 and won by David S. of Litiz, Pennsylvania. Congrats Dave!
Jason Martin installs a cut Winters Driveshaft and U-Joint to receive the engine. Before the team hoists the engine up and drops it in, they removed the nozzle lines to prevent damage during installation. Jason then drops the engine, inserts dowel pins, and turns the power steering pump spud to align with the cam spud, and it falls right in. Motor plate bushings go in to let the car flex and prevent binding up. Nozzle lines go back on. Open headers go on and make everyone smile. Water temp gauges go on and Jason demonstrates how to coil the lines to keep things clean. The throttle linkage hooks up, a double pass radiator drops in, and on go the intake manifold stacks and filter. Perfection.
The team fires her up and everyone smiles about open headers on a 410 Sprint Car.

Nothing beats the sound of a sprint engine. Nothing!
Dirt Late Model engine
that sound is why sbc's will never die
Gotta love that chrome wrench marring those fancy AN fittings
Damn make an old man feel young again and it's Christmas
Excellent 👍👍
That's gonna be a badass ride for someone
Great build, great sprint car !!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! I learned so much!!!!
that things a BEAST
SBC GREATNESS ! (magnificent engine/glorious sound)
They're beautiful right out of the shop, then you find the fence and the wear and tear starts.
I wish it was mine!!
Awesome !
I love speedway motors they have the best oval track racing parts
Cool to see Jason apart of this!
Please oh please, let me drive this frickin rocket!!
Bad ass build
I'm a Ford fan but it don't much matter when it sounds like that 💯
Cant thank you enough for how fast your shipping was. Order at 7pm the night before and the part was at my door while I went out for the morning paper.
You're welcome! We're always happy to help!
You need to do a follow up video and trace the car to where it's being raced. The sound of sprint cars idling is intoxicating! I have family in Lititz, PA. where David the raffle winner lives. I have traveled the 500+miles to watch sprint cars race in PA. Most exciting racing there is.
What I saw on facebook, the winner sold the car. The person who bought it, took the engine out to put in their car since they run J&J Chassis and had this roller up for sale. Don't know if it ever sold or not. Team is RacerX Motorsports. Also Sadly David passed away in early April.
If you wanna see where the motor went to , check out Nick Sweigart and the RacerX Motorsport team, they will be racing next season with it and Nick is one hell of a driver
@@Corky3D we purchased the car from racer x motorsports and running it as a 305 car. we have won 2 raced so far with it in 2022.
@@thejetracing61 Nice, I was wondering where that car went to. Also great job on the wins.
won in a raffle, damn!!
These cars are much easier to work on than a modified or late model they have a lot less parts and their whole lot easier to drive
I want to go dirt racing and I can’t decide between a crate modified/ late model or a 305 sprint. I definitely want the car that’s the easiest to work on
If you're just getting into racing I would recommend a sport mod you can build a sport mod for about 30,000 late models and sprint cars that would barely even buy the motor motors for late models and sprint cars can cost up to $65,000 sport mod motors cost about six grand and you can buy a good sport mod chassis for about another six grand total $12,000 and you're ready to race Sprint cars and late models can cost up to $100,000 to be race ready
@@littleoakey32 I can buy a sprint car roller for $10k and a new 305 engine for $12k. But yes the sport mods are cheaper it seems
Does it include a trailer spare parts , tires and a hauler ?
Just thought I’d ask ! Lol 😂
I got that feeling of looking thru a Sears Xmas catalog , old men can dream too !
I assume that the Rule Book keeps you from moving the motor, trans, and rear end to the left (inside of track). Terrific sound!
They do but that's a whole different type of car
Would like to see this run in Straya
Who won the sprintcar?? Have they races in it ?? Thats sounded mint on my speaker made me want to be watching races..
David Schwanger from Pennsylvania won the car!
How much would that motor cost and how many do most outlaw teams have??
They're between 50-70k for an Outlaw / USAC level engine. Outlaw guys usually have at least 2 spare motors. You can get em used for 20...but you'll probably have to put 10 in to start it. Most of the local 410 guys spend about 25-30 to keep a good fresh motor.
That motor cost $45,000++, teams usually have about three of these
How much is the 20" fiberglass truck bed for my 29' D bucket ratrod ?
I did not know your could start them using the rear end ?
Yep! at the track these cars have to be push started, though.. The "quick change" rear end allows them to pull the rear cover (like 10 3/8-16 nuts) and 2 gears behind it, then the starter is engaged with the splines of the "lower shaft" that runs to the driveshaft. Obviously can't do that at the start of a race, but nice to have for running the engine in a situation like this.
Really cool stuff, imho
When you put the engine in the car I did not see an in and out box. Do they not use them any more?
That is part of the rearend.
@@jodypaul2695 Thank you for the answer.
@@ronstewart9792 no in and out boxes anymore, just a u-joint and driveline going directly from the motor to the rear end. And a shifter that kicks the rear end in and out of gear. Pretty simple now.
@@devanwhitlock6731 Man I have been away from the cars too long. Thanks for the information. Ron
How do you win one
does anybody know how much that engine assembly weighs
860 lb
Dave S. Is a very lucky man!! How much did this build cost top to bottom?? If it would of been all out of pocket.
Probably around 85k.
If i had enought money, i would buy sprint car motor for drag racing car and ot for street car. Would be rad as f
I know someone that bought a used 410 sprint car engine and put it in a street/drag car. He said it was pretty awful for both. He build pretty sweet hot rods and everything too. I could see it, due to the fact sprint car engines are built to run between 6500-9000k RPM
How to build a rocket ship 😅
Kill the music. It is not needed.
The mask was even worse.
That's one bad Sprint!
