Their enslaved ancestors were smuggled into Alabama in 1860, long after the United States had banned the import of slaves. The smugglers burned the ship to hide their crime, and for more than 150 years, the ship's remains lay on the bottom of the Mobile River. The community of Africatown, founded by slaves brought by the Clotilda, grew up nearby.

The children of Israel are not African they had to flee Israel, tmh told them to run to the hills of West Africa to hide from being killed the Africans sold us into slavery, the slave masters took them from Africa that is another lied they told to hide the fact that we are the Children of Israel
You guys need to make a documentary about people who had no idea that slavery ended and were still on "plantations" in the late 60s.

@Jefe Anson Unverified falsity.
Jefe Anson You can’t bring up a compensatory case against a religious/ethnic group. That’s far too vague and won’t go far. You must target specific countries and/or institutions in order to have a legitimate justice claim.
Jefe Anson I haven’t read the Quran yet, but from what I’ve heard, one of its aims is akin to what you said, so no argument from me there.
No amount of compensation can make up for the the atrocities caused the people of Africa and her children across the globe through slavery or other means.
But judgment will soon befall all those who perpetrated such crimes up to several generations yet unborn.
Kobby Kobby yeah umm...that’s fine and good for an after life penalty, but we’re talking about compensation in this life. I’ll take the check, debt forgiveness, HBCU investments, guaranteed jobs, etc as a multigenerational program.

If infrastructure was there, if land was properly restored , businesses not hindered by crazy laws or even loans not awarded because of institutional racism, which could have led to breakthroughs in sciences, people's lives etc... it is much bigger than money alone. Families that would have been there had the father, mother or son and daughter not been killed. And then the trickling down of these opportunities compounded over time. There is a new wave of small group black Americans who believe they are native to America. 🤦🏾♀️ Ive read where they actually believe only 40 enslaved people were brought to America from Africa. I just dont get their logic. America had 900k enslaved Africans. The island of Jamaica had double that of the USA., Brazil had the largest slave port, yet they actually subscribe to their only being 40 people brought from Africa. I find it rather sad. I'm black American and I dont subscribe to being Native to the Americas. I think it is disrespectful to my ancestors to minimize the atrocities that they have faced.
Tifi Paul those people are foolish and willing to be anything but descendants of enslaved people. This is not to negate the fact that natives and slaves did mix due to proximity and slavery but that is not related to what these loons online spit.

this is so inspiring!
I hope it inspires us all to open a book. Not more racism
Would love to see the whole investigation of pulling this ship up with all its possible contents and history of this crime scene, and more about the people of Afrikatown then and now. Very cool and terrible history film. Gimme more!
WOW! This is SO VERY, VERY AMAZING!!!! Such A Gift From God.
IncrIncredibly interesting. I can also relate. I too am excited to learn about who my ancestors were & where the family came from. Those to things are something anyone can be excited about. And then to have proof & hold it in your hand is way awesome. I wish you all well.
Wouldn't mind visiting some day. Also interesting to note: while the homes may all be humble, one can see the church is in good shape & well kept up.
That says a lot in & of itself.
Dane Calloway has left the chat.
Does this mean that all Black Americans come from Africa? One story of someone's lineage doesn't pertain to all Black Americans.
Do your OWN history. I'm indigenous to America, we didn't come from Africa. I can trace my lineage, can you?
Unity Aborigine Love no it doesn’t, but it doesn’t mean that the vast majority of black Americans here today were just already here “for millions of years”, either, especially when there is scant if any information to even suggest that being remotely true. You are gonna have to pull up some serious historical records that hold up to scrutiny if you want anyone to take this neo-aboriginal movement seriously. Until then, I’ll keep to my skepticism of it. People like you and Dane Calloway are extremely dangerous to blacks by selling them a lineage narrative that hasn’t thoroughly been studied.
Greenlight 88 it has and Dane Colloway is just 1 of very many just cos its not main stream yet wait till next year
@@KarleneMcleanShow Dane Calloway is a quack.
