CCN Street Iftar 2017

Community care network’s Annual Street Iftar held on the 18th of June was a powerful and memorable night of generosity. Our dedicated CCN volunteers broke their fast alongside the homeless, families, muslims & non-muslims and many other Melbournians. A beautiful location facing St. Paul’s Cathedral along with the presence of the Sikh community also out on the night bigheartedly distributing meals felt like a true night of giving and unity.
Opened with a heartfelt adhaan, the night began with a huge feast, with a large portion catered by Minaret College and CCN rescuing food from Bill Schlinks First National Real Estate Annual iftar as well. The rest of the delicious food had been lovingly prepared and freshly cooked by community care volunteers. No food was wasted as an additional 100 take-away containers were put to good use ensuring that our regular folk were fed as they would be during our feed the homeless service as well as handing over extra food to any latecomers so that no one went hungry that night. Thank you to all those who helped create a positive energy and sense of community that will be remembered for years.
