I have bipolar disorder and when psychotic I suffer from very similar symptoms of paranoia that schizophrenics do. I tried vaping nicotine at half the rate of normal and found the dopamine levels went right down and the psychosis subsided. I have no medical training, but if Nicotine really is the 3rd highest releaser of dopamine after Heroin and Cocaine I'm pretty sure it's not going to help people who suffer from bouts of psychosis, especially as dopamine is a large factor in psychosis.
There is also nicotine gum and "snus" (the thing you put under your upper lip, popular in scandinavia) to consume nictotine. I have personally noticed gastrointestinal problems when using snus in periods lasting a week. I can't really say for sure if it's a direct cause, or even the nicotine itself. When using snus you will inevitably swallow some of the liquid which can cause some mild nausea too depending on the flavor of the snus. I have never tried nicotine gum but I see that some of its problematic symptoms can be gastrointestinal for similar reasons.

I use nicotine and hashish to self medicate and im going to a unity of desabituation because i had psychosis smoking joints for me is bad nicotine is good
I have borderline personality disorder, body dysmorphia and chronic anxiety and depression all bundled together, do you think if I quit smoking it would drastically improve my symptoms? Especially the paranoia area
Hi, can anyone please help me out, my mom has schizophrenia and shes been taking her medication but i seen her smoke 1 or 2 packs of cigarettes a week and shes acts different 😔 ive seen her scared and paranoid but mostly seen her worried alot and says thing that she forget after a while, can someone please help me so i can know what to do

Nicotine fuels the chemicals for thought. Its also said nicotine can induce psychosis this way.

All my friends smoked a lot. It was bad for their heart though, when they were put on medication and had rapid weight gain.
