You convinced me. After decades with the Sicilian, i am preparing the CK for my next tournament. Because of you. I too want to have a relaxed, smug face, and enjoy the game while playing. You are an influencer. And you do this with serious content. Respect.
i have climbed like 300 elo in the last three months by watching your videos and picking up the caro and vienna/london openings as my main opening plans. amazing content, lots of support from finland💪🤙
One of the main takeaways i always get from your videos is that the difference between an 800 elo player and a GM is that the GM blunders pieces slightly less often 💀
Really appreciate the demonstration against higher rated players. Too often videos show FMs, IMs or GMs beating 1000 rated players and saying look how easy this is. This helps show how to really play the opening. Thanks.
Love the jokes with Levy & Grandpa Hikaru. It's insane how easy you make it look. I'm starting to find the moves when you tell us to pause, feels pretty damn good. Your an Amazing teacher! Thank you!!
Dear Alex , thank's for all your vidéos made on caro and london , i have learned a lot , it look's so easy for you and we see how fun is for you to play all these lines . JC from France
Caro-Kann is a fantastic opening. I went from 1300 to 1900 FIDE thanks to that opening! I did play it with Bf5 and I can assure you it works. People seldom know what to do... Some know like 14moves theory and start to do clueless things which not according to the opening plans for white. This causes you to easily take over the game into your direction. Many people play c5 or e5 and themselves as black and know a lot about that. The Scandinavian also works the same way. People often get clueless with white, and you can take over the game.
Best chess teacher on UA-cam by far. Can you please do a video focussing on the Caro exchange variation? It's easily the most boring compared to advance and tartakaur. is there a way to make it as interesting as the other variations, as either white or black?
Alex, just wanted to thank you for your Caro-kann videos. That's the opening I always use against e4, so you're are helping me SO much. Really appreciate it💪💯❤
Game 2 and Game 6, this Botvinnik-Carls opening move order 4.Nf3 Nc6 will lose to 5.dxc5! Bb4 6.c3! So that should be avoided with 4...cxd4 The transposition of this with 4.dxc4 Nc6 5.Nf3 is what motivated me to switch that to 4.dxc4 e6!
When is your Caro course coming out?????? I check everyday for it. Lol Also, we need a Vienna course as well. All your videos are golden. Thoroughly enjoy your thought process through out your videos. Really helps to understand concepts better. Thank you!!! ( I'm going to copy and paste this comment to all your videos until your course gets released. Hahaha)
Thank you so much Alex for all your top videos, so instructive 🙏🙌 You gave me passion of chess and the wonderful Caro-Kann is now in my heart ! Can't wait for next games with Caro and the London system 😍
Just thought that I would mention that I appreciate your telling us to pause the video at times. I have gotten the correct move in each instance, but that is not to say that I would have found the move when actually playing the game. It just goes to show that there can be hidden tactics that club players may not see as easily.
like the London system course, you may provide 50/100 model+reference games. by studying these games along with repertoire, anyone can reach 2000 Elo in a month
In my games, the Botvinnik line of the advance IS the main line. Whether I’m playing with or against the Caro. It’s the only one I see. Of course, after watching your Jobava London videos, I haven’t seen the Caro-Kann in about 100 games as white
Hey Alex, love the videos! One question: sometimes my opponents don't take the Knight on F6 in Tartakower, instead they play something else and the tension is maintained. Am I supposed to capture their Knight on E4 or still keep the tension and keep developing?
Hey Alex thank you so much for the incredibly generous and instructive videos…i have a question and a tip..honestly what will the course add to us more than what you already explained in your youtube videos…i mean i’m 1200 and learning how to crush 1700s from your videos what more will i learn from the course and the tip..i guess it’s worth considering managing your time FOR US 😊 you tend to talk freely in the beginning of the game then as a powerful IM you blitz genius moves at the end to convert successfully but by doing so we miss the reasons behind your moves and sometimes the pre moves are hard to even follow lol have you considered a longer time controls like 10 min ?
Very useful big thx from Paris. Because in France we have a lot a course with blitzstream by exemple but not only caro cann and most of the time less level. I'am 1600 so your video is the best for me 👌🙏🙏
I've gotten really good playing black using the Caro Kann. Way better than when I play white! What should I use for White? I've tried the London and the Sicilian and I'm having trouble using them effectively. Maybe they need more time or maybe there is a better option?
Alex, thanks to you I blow away 1.e4 with ease. It’s not even hard. What do I do against 1.d4? What response is as easy to play and forgiving of mistakes?
This might be a dumb question, but I’ve been staring at the screen and can’t figure out for the life of me why at 15:41 taking the pawn on b2 with the queen on the next move wouldn’t be mate. Is it a missed mate in 1 or what am I missing? I’m still kinda new to chess so I’m still learning a lot. Either way, your vids help a ton. As other have said, I play black with the Caro better than anything with white.
Played a Tartakower after stopping the video at 17:50. 95% accuracy. I´m a 1450 rapid ´but the engine says that I have played as a 2250. Time to watch the rest of the video. I don´t know exactly why, but if I put the game or a link to it, the comment it´s removed
My Friend, you are an IM. When playing against an IM, 1800s/1900s/1600s all seems like 1000s. Probably the same as you would look if you were playing CK against Hikaru or Magnus or Fabi...
I've been playing chess seriously for over half a year now and I started with the Caro-Kann and your video's. Right now I think I am pretty decent at the Caro-Kann with over 2500 games played. I really wanted to grind out 1 opening and get good at it but I feel like it's time to add another opening to my repertoire since I play a friend often and it can get quite boring playing only the same opening as black haha.. I also want to try something new so I was wondering, what is another good opening to play as a beginner against e5? :)
Hey Alex - you always say to Bxf3 in the Advance Variation, but in the last game you played 12. h3 Bh5. What was the reason behind this? Under what circumstances does Black not trade the light-squared Bishop for the Knight on f3?
@@AlexBanzea I'm trying it and it's really nice. Kind of Stafford-ish due to the early lack of pawns e and d, but that pawn in f6 is a plus, I love it, incredibly annoying for White. Nice stuff, I'm using it. Thanks for the excellent quality.
Love your videos Alex. Every time I watch them I learn something knew and then go and play 50 games against my 700 rated opponents that play so incorrectly they ruin theory instantly :( HAHAHAHA
In terms of the intro, I personally feel like Elo points are less valuable than learning to calculate in different openings. Naturally this doesn't apply to everyone, especially an IM teaching it, but if the Caro-Kann is used as a crutch, it's probably detrimental for long term progress.
Anybody here got the course? I can't afford the $200 course, but I saw there is a $20 short version of the Caro Kann Course. Whats the difference between both?
I watched these games so often but in my case the always play such weird things like d4 and then e4 and not protecting with the knight so I can’t do the tartakov. Or they play d4, c4 and then later c5 and I never get the open file for the rook. When they play normal I have such a high win rate but whenever they play any different then in Alex video I loose and get angry 😞
In the second game i would be so frustrated if my opponent didn't resign. I mean if he won he would be proud of such game? I wouldn't want to win if i was down so much material. Great video as usually though 😊
Love the back and forth banter and jokes between Alex & Gotham! Lets go! Two of the best content creaters in the game.
Yeah what's up with that😅😂 is there some bad blood between 'em.
Good content though from both

Thank you Alex! Love these videos. I was around 1100 in rapid and now I boosted myself to 1500-1600. Much love
i have climbed like 300 elo in the last three months by watching your videos and picking up the caro and vienna/london openings as my main opening plans. amazing content, lots of support from finland💪🤙
Alex, the person who helped me get 400 points in 4 months! 1400-1800 by using only 4 openings: queen’s gambit, London, Trompowsky, and caro kann!
Now using Vienna and a3 Sicilian!
These videos are actually game-changing 🔥🔥
2$ lol cheap
One of the main takeaways i always get from your videos is that the difference between an 800 elo player and a GM is that the GM blunders pieces slightly less often 💀
Surprisingly accurate
Bro ur content has been a huge help. Started playing last year and just hit 2000 lichess with ur London and caro lines

Thank you very much! After playing Caro, i played the Black Lion for a while....This video is getting me back to base!
this content should have a million views at least, caro-kann for life!
The attacking sequence in the second game was really beautiful
I always love it when the opponents get their hopes up that they will win by flagging. And then they get checkmated.

In the tartokower, what is the best move (No.7) for black when white has a bishop on c4 and white gives Qe2 check? (Black hasn't castled yet.)

I think you mean the pawn on g2, and that would be mate if white didn't defend this with queen to e4, but he did.

>opponent goes 4.c3 against the Caro-Kann botvinnik advance
“…And with that, I think we can move on to the following game”

play pirc if u want a setup based opening but it can be hard for beginners because you're sacrificing center space in the pirc

Taking was also perfectly fine, when white has nbd2 you can slide it back (guess I was too focus on the analogy) haha
Awesome, thank you!
This guy casually steamrolls the top % chess players while explaining & cracking jokes... This is crazy 🤣
I'd watch a 4h long caro video anyday just sayin
White may play 6 Bc4, hindering 6... Bd6 with 7 Qe2+. After that it seems there is no better move than 7... Be7. How would you play then?
You can also block with the queen, but I recommend 7...Be7 followed by ...0-0 and ...Bd6 back. The 6.Bc4 is not problematic at all
