isn't it much weirder to know about the shoes you don't have? Researching shoes is kind of an odd hobby. He actually wears the shoes and he likes the way they look; that is the most normal. Unlike most people, he actually wears his nice shoes not caring about the value.
I would be cleaning my shoes more often if I were him. There are plenty of shoes like ultraboost that you can just toss in the washing machine in a mesh bag on delicate.
But he also might have better priorities than to sit there and clean them which is why I would buy ultraboosts.
