  • It is NOT A 1889, It is a Good example of an original 1882 Remington double barrrl exposed hammer shotgun. Stil works great after about 130 plus years. Whish they would build stuff again like this so itwill last many years. Love these old hammer guns' they have so much personality and are just gorgious

    I love these cold guns! My 1873 Charles daily 10 gauge was missing a hammer when I bought it for 45 bucks and a rummage sale 30 years ago. Was on the hunt for a hammer for decades and finally gave up and sent a traced out drawing to Dixie gun Works of the existing hammer. That hammer that was still on it had been repaired and braised so who knows if it was even the correct hammer to begin with that was left on it. I picked out one that looked like it matched and their Smith said it was the closest one so I ordered a pair and had them installed. I went through and restored the gun and took it out and shot a double bearded turkey the first time in the woods with it along with a hand load using real black powder and 1 5/8 ounce of #6’s. My numbers all match as well. Just dosen't have the OEM hammers. Just wanted to restore it and shoot a Turkey. Bucket list accomplished.

    My Dad had one of these. He was going to junk it. I saved it today. It’s mine. I need to find a right side hammer. Serial 16002 so it has to be one of the last ones.

      Wow, you have a great jem. Keep a hold of it, always check eBay for the hammer. They sometimes come up on there. Good luck

    Not a Remington but I have an Essex Damascus double barrel from 1887. Where do I find the serial number on it?

    Just curious if the stock for the 1882 is the same as the 1889. They look very similar. My 89 is all matching as well. Grade2 with the twist steel barrel. I'll only be shooting low brass 20 gauge with inserts to bring it down.

    Just had family member passed away. And he had some guns. 1 of the guns looks exactly like this. Its def an older Remington double barrell. How do i check to make sure its not loaded. In the video you opened it very fast, was unable to see how it was done.

      Turn the top lever down to the right and as you're doing that Lean Forward on the top barrels in the front and push them down to towards the ground so as you're turning that top lever just push the barrels down and that will open it up sorry I didn't answer your question earlier

    Please tell me you are keeping it as it is
    Not making it a sawed off shotgun
    Old shotguns like that are hard to find every one been turning them to sawed off shotguns and I dislike it

    • @chaseww
      @chaseww  4 роки тому

      Absolutely not I will not saw it off. I'm keeping it all original. I do have one that's already sawed-off in 1889. But somebody saw that one off, this one as long as I have it it will not be touched. Thank you very much
