This will be followd by a video of drilling and blasting big rocks.
/Richard at Yesterday's.
The man returned when we missed him.
When the world needed him.
Are you sure about that like a Sandy seashore
Anyway, yeah he's the best! I think, anything Richard does is top notch! Love all the videos.
Great to see you back. Your knowledge of these old machines makes for very interesting video content.
That and he looks and acts like one of our sons!
Another interesting and useful machine --There will be nothing still working in 50 years that is made toady - all the plastic parts will have failed
True. Nothing today is built to last. /Richard
Beautiful piece of machinery. Is the rotation working? I can't tell.
Hi! Yes works very well. Around 1 turn every 2 secons. /
Great to see you back .
What a cool rock drill.
Thank you 😊 /Richard
Very good to have you back. An extremely interesting machine which you skillfully rebuilt. More videos, please. 😂
That's amazing. The carburetor looks very similar to a 1980's round-slide carb. All of your content is fascinating, As I've said before, you're like a time traveler. Thanks for sharing this stuff with us.
Looks like vespa carburetors of the late 40s with the side bowl
Great old machine, great to see you back on the utubes. 👍
Quick clean up and off you go, can't beat the old machines. as long as they're stored properly.
Good to see you back 👍
Hello from Tasmania. Nice to hear from you again hope everything’s well on your side of the world. Thanks Kerry
Hi. Yes all well here. Hope you are safe also. /Richard
Hey really nice to see a new upload from you!
Nice rock drill you find some interesting stuff, Richard.
Thanks for making, and download of this video, much appreciated, fascinating old machine.
Awesome save of a great vintage piece.
Awesome video. Glad to see you're doing good. 🔧🔧🔧
Thank you! /Richard
@ 6:20The amount of oil on the machine looks right . We ran then 12:1 back in the 1980's
Yes, they love oil! /Richard
All I have ever seen before are air drills. But used the same for drilling holes for dynamite. So if you can get some dynamite you can blast all of those big rocks. You will be a full-fledged "powder monkey" and have a lot of fun at the same time. Would make a great video!
Hi! Then be prepared for part 2 of this video because thats is the content 😎 /Richard
Looking forward to it!!@@YesterdaysMachinery
Would be a fun project to restore like new. I bet those old machines made men old before their time. A day with that would wear you out😢
Wow! Such a beautiful piece of machinery! Thanks for sharing.
That is an incredible machine, excellent video as well. Thank you
Thank's mate /Richard
I just remembered why I stopped drinking that stuff.
Stale fuel causes heartburn and the old lube makes problems tomorrow.
Gday, I have a similar machine, bit later model that starts extremely easy, there bloody heavy to carry but do a magnificent job, gteat to see you back mate, cheers
Hi, A Pionjär perhaps? Or a Atlas copco? /Richard
@@YesterdaysMachinery mines a Pionjär
The genuine surprise on your face when a 100 pound hammer drill tore up your concrete floor cracked me up. You boys sure know how to party over there!
Woohoo! Benefit of insomnia: being awake when a Yesterday’s Machinery video drops!
Me too!
Intressant video ! Vilket häftig borrmaskin !
Brilliant video glad your back more please
Welcome back wicked machine, hope you get some use out of it👍
Thx for sharing. Amazing machine. But, that drill bit was dead, wanst it? As i know them, the have some kind of hard metal crown on them. I look like, it was worn of long long time ago. Its cracy that it even drills with a blank steal tip. At least back in the 50s-80s swedish steal was the gold standart for drill bits. They payed enormous amouts of money to import it here to the former GDR for our underground minig operations. Was this alread the case back in the 30s and 40s?
Hi! Yes it was very dull. I have a diamant sharpening tool that i can sharpen them with. The crown was good tho. Lots of material left but hard to see in the video. A sharpened bit runns way faster than this. And i will before the next video. Than it will be drilling and blasting rocks. And yes, Swedish drills and iron over all has always been very good and a good income for the country. /Richard
Cool,I've never seen one of those other than in old reels from the earlier to mid 1900s ... I'm too old and lazy to use one of those these days,I'd rather just attach the hammer drill to the excavator and sit in the cab working the controls 😂
Very good thx.
We would lay them on the ground 5 mins running to warmup.
Keep bits sharp! you got a good driller
Get you a set of feathers and wedges, split some rocks
Pull pts dress on oil stone reshape to factory specs
Hi! This is a float carb som you cant lay them down while running. Yes a friend of mine have som big rocks that we are going to drill and blast in a future video. /Richard
@@YesterdaysMachinery The pionjar had a needle valve and choke, that was it. Thx for reply!
That was utterly fantastic ... and I agree, very scary!
Richard did you find aquavit in that gas tank ? 🤣🤣🤣
very cool that it ran. I need to find a video that shows the guts now.
Hello mate. Now harden up Richard and drink all of your stale fuel next time.
Haha, next time mate./Richard
That's a big, heavy and great designed machine.
And the wonderful technology of today is toss the machine in the trash because you can no longer get batteries or they cost more than a mortgage payment! Tools if yesterday were easier to work on, heavy and reliable! A manly tool for sure. Great machine and perfectly explained on its workings!😊
Thank you! /Richard
Yes I’m glad your back . I could use that drill I have some rocks . Thanks for sharing it
Yes me too. Will be a part two! /Richard
Great find, and nicely tweaked and cleaned - to give function! Seems a really good machine. Nice job.
Lovely to see you back again. Your videos are informative and a joy to watch.
Awesome video, that's one cool looking and working rock drill, like the starting handle, no silly pull start 👍👍
Yes, the crank handle actually worked better than i thought when it is so easy started! /Richard
thank you i really enjoy all your videos
Bravo. It has been awhile and good to see you put out a video. The drill reminds me of an air hammer we use here in the states.
Best to you and your fsmily
Thank's! Yes air powered drills was guite common here as well. /Richard
A rare 1960 vintage gasoline
Good to see you back. We certainly look forward to your videos and adventures. All the best.
Thank you mate. /Richard
Great. Would've checked your jets were flush clean though.
Good to see you back Richard!!! Another old machine I wish I had access to. I've drilled a lot of holes for "Tee" posts here on my farm using a rotary hammer drill meant for concrete. Your machine would be a giant step up! Well done and glad to see you back! The kids must be getting bigger now!
Hi! Thank you. Yes they grow faster, my oldest is soon 6years and she has realised the joy of riding quad now, and she has no limits either 😅 /Richard
Was this one built by Bergmans? They were the ones who improved on the original Warsop design to develop the now world-famous Pionjär line of gas drills.
Made by Gustaf Holm Bergborrmaskiner AB. Yes the Pionjär is a great machine. /R
I could imagine you would not feel very good after using that thing all day 😀
Great content, very likable and educating!
What an absolute beast that machine is! Well done content - as usual.
Yes, everything he does is top quality. He is THE BEST.
Is there a little known tradition of rinsing your mouth out with old gasoline in Sweden? If so, I don't think it will ever catch on. But it may catch fire
Hi, try to eat a tin can full of Surströmming. Then you will beg for a gallon of gas to rince your mouth with. /Richard
I had a friend in the Army. He would taste every fluid our vehicles had😂
We used a similar one in the Swedish army. The name was “Pionjär” = Pioneer.
It was a two stroke like this, could probably wake the dead when going full.
Used one of those too, in Canada. Yellow beast, very good tho
Super cool 😎
I am VERY glad to see you back!!
Thank you mate. Glad to be back! /Richard
So glad I started watching ur videos, so inspiring!!🤩🔥
An interesting piece of equipment. Good to see you back.
Such a neat old machine. Thanks for sharing
Sure is! Thank you. /Richard
So good to see you again!!
Thanks for sharing what you do.
That's a beautiful tool. Probably not something id use often, but for drilling to put rock breaking expanding cement it would be perfect!!
I've lit fires on and then tipped iced water on big rocks to break them in the past.
The drill would be more fun i think!!
Ps, you should be careful drinking and operating heavy machinery!
The fire looked like it enjoyed the glass for you though!!
I'm guessing that's why a lot of workers back then were built like brakes if you know what I mean especially if they had to lift that up and move it around🤔🤔🤔🤔😚
Yes working with this every day would either break your body or make it huge in muscle. /Richard
Great machine! BTW why did you take a drink from the tank, I guess you knew there would not be Nyköpings Brännvin :)
I have no good answers to that 😅 /Richard
i thought.. why not just replace the spark plug? Then after it came out from sand blasting.. all became clear! Very satisfying. Great job!!
Hi! Yes i really like to sand blast them. Often makes them good as new and i like to keep them old plugs instead of new if i can. /Richard
Excellent machine, excellent video, thanks.
When you spit into that fire I almost fell off my chair great video take care
Tell what kind of thing you do for a living. I always thought you were a farmer with a whole lot of acres and you were super wealthy. Then, you said "at work". So now im just a super confused dude who looks like the Big Lebowski.
What are you talking about?
Good to see you back! Nice video as usual.
Wow vilken best.. Inget slår gammal teknik. Speciellt svensk. 👍
Bra jobbat.
Ja 50kg... dom senare atlas copco väger ju bara 30kg. Men borrar gör den ju! Detta borret var ju helt slut egentligen. Har lånat ut alla mina bra kortborr. Men nästa video blir borrning och sprängning! /Richard
i liked that taste spit and throw it in the FIER! made me smile.
What a sublime machine! It does what it is meant to do, lasts a century, and performs with a small amount of fuel.
Great video. I hope you don’t feel you have to crank out vids, just do one when you have some interesting tech to share.
Thank you. I will do my best, hopefully i can put out every week! /Richard
"Lasts a century" in the delicate hands of drillers no less.
Awesome! Its like a dirt bike engine with a drill bit attached, you need a belt loop to store the starting crank. Thanks for your effort, from Wisconsin USA
Thank you! Yes that would be nice. Sad to trow it on the ground every time. /Richard
Welcome back, I missed your content!!
Very interesting! I've only seen these in cartoons. And as a toy my brother had.
Know what it weighs?
Hi! 50kg pure iron. /Richard
Good to see you again ! Thank you !
Missed you mate. I found and subscribed while you were away and it is great to see you back!
Thank you! I hope to find some more time to make videos from now on. /Richard
Att den startade såpass lätt är riktigt häftigt ändå. Bra kvalité på maskiner förr det är ingen tvekan om det. Fortsätt med det du göra 😁
Jahaddu, det var byggt för att hålla 😊
Curious as to the mechanism that rotates the bit. Thought I watched closely enough but didn’t catch that.
Hi, no it is inside the hammering mechanism and i forgot to mention it in the video. /R
Wonderful old machine ❤. Looks like it went into storage shortly after it’s rebuild in the 50s.👍🏴
thanks for the videos! it has been a while and patience has its rewards ...more old machinery makes me believe we are loosing something through progress where it is obsolete before you bought it wears out before its service life and isnt designed to be repaired maintained or rejuvenated . personally i think its time to get rid of the safety guards and backup alarms but thats another topic lol. looking forward to more machines and the information you provide with them.
Thanks for showing how it worked, i would never had thought of the second piston.
Yes that second piston is very interesting. I have another drill that needs new piston rings. I might make a video of tearing that down completely. /Richard
It’s been too long!!👏🇬🇧
Great to see you back i was wondering where you had got to a few days ago and Bam a new vid. You always have some interesting toys to play with. Great job on the filming, editing, and sound quality of your videos always a pleasure to watch. Keep up the great work and thanks for posting.
Thank you! Next video is drilling and blasting big rocks! /Richard
Interesting mechanism, and appears to be very effective!
So fine to have a new video from you!
Best wishes from George in Herefordshire, UK.
Thank's! Regards /Richard
Very interesting machine, what a great find. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! /Richard
So good to see you Richard. 🇦🇺
Thank you! /Richard
great new content ✌🏼
Wonder where he's been
What a cool old drill. Firing it up on your shop floor had me worried haha.
Haha, made a 1" deep hole 😅 /Richard
Your ability to get machines to cooperate is amazing! I have seen a similar machine that was made for packing dirt, but it operated at a much lower speed. The cylinder was very similar. I cannot imagine operating a machine like that daily to drill rock. It is also amazing that the carburetor was able to function reliably and had not been damaged by vibration.
Cool machine.
How cool is that!
GREETINGS FROM BEAUTIFUL, BREEZY, SUNNY AND FRIENDLY TORRANCE, CA., U.S.A. . Good to see you back? Happy to see you're still around? Missed your videos? I AM JUST HAPPY I FOUND THIS CHANNEL. THEM VIKINGS AM BE PRETTY SMART!! 9:00 TOO BAD YOU DIDN'T POWER WASH IT, THEN YOU'D HAVE A VERY OLD RESTO, SAND BLASTING AND POWER WASHING. A VIRAL COMBO. A N D LASTLY I'M GLAD THAT YOU DINNIT BONDO IT THEN PAINT IT WITH 30 COATS OF ''CATERPILLAR PURPLE'' SO IT COULD NEVER BE USED FOR FEAR OF SCRATCHES!!!!!! NO WAY 19:49 EVEN A CARB REBUILD!!??
Now you made the underground people mad 😄
They should thank me for drilling some air holes 😅 /Richard
You can get high-nickel-content cast iron repair electrode for both stick and wire (ERNi99, ERNi55). You still have to pre-heat, but the odds of cracking are lower and the strength is higher, vs. using any random wire like ER70S6. ;) Also, I am astonished they would use a cast part on the business end, subject to so much shock, when something forged would have been far more appropriate...

- Pours cup of petrol
- Drinks
- Throws in to fire
- Refuses to elaborate
- Leaves to fix a 1940s drill
Careful putting that old gas/petrol in your mouth, it's probably leaded fuel (with tetraethyl lead anti-knock compound added)
Good to see you back. I also like old machines that can work. I don’t have much space for anything big. If I ever get to my grandfather’s birthplace, it would be nice to say hello.

RIP floor. :D Did you see HandToolRescue's gas-powered soil tamper? Now THAT's scary! It's a foot-flattener!
Thanks for the show Richard 🍻🇦🇺
Thank you for watching! Helps out a lot! /Richard
Hi!!! Richard in Europe It's me man I Love your videos why nothing new you remember me I'm from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania make a damn video pleeeeaaaase. Miss your skills. Merry Christmas
Tackar för videon, jag har en likadan, och tack vare dig har jag hittat den andra markeringen på svänghjulet.
Jag hade aldrig vågat veva igång den om jag råkat få den högtänd😂
Tackar/ Göran 👍👍👍
