  • "The Magic Flute or Die Zauberflöte (K. 620) is an opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to a German libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. The work is in the form of a Singspiel, a popular form that included both singing and spoken dialogue. The work was premiered on 30 September 1791 at Schikaneder's theatre, the Freihaus-Theater auf der Wieden in Vienna, just two months before the composer's premature death.
In this opera, the Queen of the Night persuades Prince Tamino to rescue her daughter Pamina from captivity under the high priest Sarastro; instead, he learns the high ideals of Sarastro's community and seeks to join it. Separately, then together, Tamino and Pamina undergo severe trials of initiation, which end in triumph, with the Queen and her cohorts vanquished. The earthy Papageno, who accompanies Tamino on his quest, fails the trials completely but is rewarded anyway with the hand of his ideal female companion Papagena."

There's a reason why Mozart is considered the greatest genius of music by the majority. Mozart has it all. A total superpower in harmony and counterpoint, but also in dynamics and spirit.

I just found your channel- I’m subscribed to a lot of “orchestral music + scores” channels but this is the only one which provides such an accessible analysis along with it. I immediately subscribed. Keep it up! I’m really looking forward to more of these!!

    Excellent visual and analysis
This has to be one favorite orchestral pieces I’ve played
I think that using Roman numerals to analyze the chords would be more helpful than the chord names

I know this video is a few years old, but I would love it if you continued to make videos like these of other overtures or even symphonies. Even if its a short overture or something, it would be very informative and I would watch them several times
