I think Vi's terribly tired. She lost everything and now she believes that the only way to have back her sister is to eliminate Silco. She learnt that the only way to fix problems is to punch them...and so she did... I can't really blame her, 'cause I'm too sad for her...
FUN FACT: In episode 6 when VI is hurt and seeing stuff, you see powder drawing on the cave wall if you pause you see its a slug monster and a crab monster the same ones Vi explained to Cait her and powder used to make up during there games as kids. Its a small detail but I think its super cool how in depth this show gets!
A cool detail in this episode. A few episodes ago, young Viktor has trouble reaching his toy ship. In this episode, Viktor appears to outrun the ships in the distance.
It's really something, huh? Ironically, if someone happened to find their OnlyFans account before their UA-cam channel, they'd think they hated each other. 100% disagree that there is no closure in the finale. There is more story to tell for sure but character arcs are completed and the story of Jinx has reaches a very definite conclusion.
Also, I saw you guys were pretty upset over how Vi blew Caitlyn off in the rain. And if it makes you feel any better, I don't think she really meant everything she said. I think she just wants to go after Silco, and subsequently save Powder, and thinks the only way to do it is kill Silco and take his empire down. She knows that Caitlyn would be against this, so she goes after the one person who sided with her at the council, Jayce. So I really think she's just puhing Cait away to protect her from the suicide mission she's about to go on.
I agree 100%. Look how many enforcers died there, Caitlyn is awesome and a badass but she is just a chick with a gun. She probably would die during the assault. And Caitlyn would follow Vi if she knew what Vi wants to do.

i agreed and understand with Vi on why she has to fight Zaun even though she's from the undercity. Because on ep 7, when she talks with Ekko, he described Zaun as "Silco flooded the street with Shimmer, he doesn't care who using it. People died left and right because of Silco or some by Enforcers (meaning Marcus, who works under Silco)." And in ep 6, when she got hurt and jump down 'the neon purple sign', Vi saw many people hurting and hiding in darkness because of Shimmer, she even said "it was never this big" meaning, while Vander was there, she and Powder went there to play and never thought of that place as a dangerous one, it was safe. When you watch through out since Vi got out and return to the undercity, all she sees are people constantly using Shimmer, everybody she knows (good people works with Vander) are either dead, scare to fight back (the short lady helped her in the hostel) or even worse, got addicted like that guy wore glasses. Ekko literally fighting Zaun by his own army of people because he doesn't know anyone from Topside. In the end, undercity isn't undercity anymore in Vi's eyes, it was Zaun, it was Silco's place, the person she by her very own eyes...saw stabbed Vander in the back and ultimately killed him. People saw how much Silco cares for Jinx then suddenly forgot all the things he has done. Even in this episode, in the factory where Vi and Jayce fight, Silco is USING kids to work and even turn them into fighting machines by Shimmer. A good father, yes but that doesn't excuse everything Silco does.

silco is a cool dad but that really does make people forget all his sins, and even then, he's not a perfect dad, he still manipulated and lied to her just to forcibly keep her under his wing. he definitely loved her and respected the person she had become, but at the same time, he made her that person by taking advantage of a traumatised child so

I love how the people around Silco respect the relationship he has with Jinx. Yes, it's very twisted, but to everyone, that's his daughter in every way that matters. It was moving to me that Singed would take that sort of precaution.
I with ya. Diplomacy should ALWAYS be the first course of action. Even if you don’t think they’d listen, you could always be proven wrong in the best way just like Vi was proven wrong when Silco was willing to negotiate with Jayce. (If these two dunces would have bargained for more than two minutes, they could’ve also come up with a peace deal that didn’t end with Jinx in Stillwater, one that Silco would’ve agreed to, but nooooo) Especially after the kid dies and Vi wants to _keep doing the same strategy???_ Yeah, she’s right about Jayce having been complicit even prior to their vigilantism, but that’s no reason to keep up this approach and potentially kill more kids. _“He knew what he was getting into”?!_ Vi, I thought you were better than this. Truly, she should’ve agreed with Jayce about switching tactics. It doesn’t even have to be diplomacy (though that’d be the ideal). They could’ve just gone stealth instead of attacking head-on! I’m not a Vi hater. I love her for most of the show, but this bit made me look at her in a new light.
The scene at the beginning with Vi and Silko parallels episode 3, when Vi also couldn't do anything to help Powder because she was kidnapped by Marcus. Silko loves Jinx, but this doesn't negate the fact that due to his trauma he did not help Powder cope with her trauma, but only aggravated it. Vi and Silko both cared and loved her, but both made mistakes.
I believe the "half of her face behind bars" was meant to, like you said, symbolize the parallel to Ep 3, and that she was still half imprisoned by current events, which still kept her from being able to save Powder. Silco holding her, the Enforcers running in with Mel/Jayce.
I dont get why people say that vi made a mistake..i mean if your family dies coz of your sister you'd atleast not talk to her for some time...she just went into corner to give herself some space
I say he has the ability to disarm jinx if he needs to. Until Vi came back. Seems she was in a better spot. Unstable but we are in the middle or trying to get ready for a war. Honestly if silco got that independent and everything he wanted. I bet he spend alot of time with jinx and getting her help to let go of her past as he been trying to do this whole time. He been trying to help her. It's not his fault if jinx doesn't listen.
Found y'all over the holidays because I needed more Arcane content after Hailee Steinfield's voice triggered me in Hawkeye (you're gonna get post-arcane-depression like I did)-and I seriously LOVE your reactions and dynamic. Can't wait for you two to take a deeper dive into the League cinematics all over UA-cam. I only recently saw them, and I promise it might actually make you be 1000% okay if the showrunners decided to focus on a whole different region for Season 2. You could also try easter egg videos for Arcane, but it may spoil character arcs and theories. Since we gotta wait till 2023 though, it may make the wait more exciting if anything.

Silco is probably my favourite character but it's really hard to argue that he isn't a bad guy IMO. He definitely cares for Jinx but just remember that if he had not related so much to her situation in episode 3 he would have killed her. He is using kids to work in his shimmer factories, we know what shimmer has done to the Lanes and it has not been a positive change. Silco does not care about that and only wants to achieve his goal of making Zaun independant, even if it kills his people, just like Vander said in episode 3. I think his handling of Jinx trauma is also very bad, telling her she has too mentally kill Powder in order to escape from the past is not a good coping mechanism and might be the worst advice I've heard lol. He did not know Vi was alive but as soon as he found out he went out to kill her so she would not get to Jinx. Her trauma is of course not easy to fix (if at all possible) but if there is someone who can begin to make it better it would be Vi. Remember how she reacted when they were reunited in episode 6, it is clear Jinx wants to be with her sister but after all the years of Silco telling her he is the only one she can trust it is hard. Seeing Vi with and enforcer certainly doesn't help either. I understand why Silco does not want Jinx to see Vi but it is an incredibly selfish act. But the fact that I've written all this out from memory just speaks to how great of a character he, and just Arcane as a show, is. Probably my favourite "villain" of all time :)
Agreed. I don't really like when folks try to overlook obvious "flaws" in a monstrous character because they're well written with complexities and nuance. Or they show care for something or someone. Silco talks about how piltover had them working in mines with unbreathable air but he has them addicted to deforming drugs ontop of the child labour as if he's any better. He lies to Jinx about Vi, saying she was there for the crystal and not her. Then manipulates her through their shared trauma of being abandoned/Betrayed in order to get her to finish working on the hextech weapon. He cares about her sure. But honestly the sigma response to that is so? He's still Silco lmao. Also Also. When he said Vi teaming up with Jayce is Vi going against Zaun. Silco isn't Zaun. I could probably even argue he's against Zaun.
Silco is a good man who learned bad ways in order to survive. Happens all the time, nice guy gets his heartbroken & now he's a savage, but it only takes that one person to remind him that he's really a marshmallow deep down. Jinx was that person for SIlco.
You know it's well written when you even kind of like Silco. And he definitely loves Jinx. Probably the only person he ever loved unconditionally that loved him in return. Doesn't make him a good dad or a good person, but there really isn't any question that he loves her and that to him, she is his daughter. Can't wait for Ep 9.

Vi loves Powder, but as we see in the finale *SPOILERS* Jinx feels as though Vi doesn't love her, Vi loves Powder, but not Jinx. That Vi can't accept her for who she is now and still love her. Silco has never been shown to try to change who Jinx is, if anything, he lets her be who she wants even if everyone else thinks less of her and himself for it. He didn't shape her personality, he gave her room to shape it herself. Yes he wanted to help her let Powder die, but if that was about him only loving her for who he made her he would have done that YEARS ago. He did it right then because it wasn't about him, he was trying to help her with her anxiety she was having at the time, and it did help cause the next time we see her she's rocking out to her music and working undisturbed by her trauma. He does love her unconditionally, that includes if she were to change. At first, yes he took her in because he saw himself in her, but he came to love Jinx for Jinx no matter who she may be.
@@LangkeeLongkee Vi hasn’t had any meaningful interactions with her sister current day tho. All she’s seen of “Jinx” is her killing people. Of course she’s freaked out. I also don’t think that Silco would be so accepting of Jinx if she went back to having more parts of her “Powder” personality become primary. He didn’t tell her to let the “Powder” part die previously because it wasn’t affecting what he was asking her to do. Now it is. With her wrecking the shimmer shipment. And freaking out about working on the Hex gem. He tells her that “Jinx” is perfect. But she isn’t just Jinx. She’s also Powder. Given time I think Vi could have come to terms with her new alter, and helped her reconcile and integrate them as a new whole. Silco wouldn’t, he wanted her to kill one part of herself.
I like that in the discussion both of you came to the actualisation that there are no villains. I blame no one in this show (although it's fiction) for the choices that they make. It's all about perspectives, and you can understand why each character is doing what they do. The show is absolutely fantastic and episode is gonna make Carlie cry up a storm. hmm i respect your opinion but i have to disagree with you, while yes we can understand silcos choices and why he is doing what he is doing does not mean he's not in the wrong. It might just be me but even tho its fiction i always think "what if this was in the real world" and if this was real lets be honest silco would be in jail and people would have hated him for encouriging a mentally damaged child instead of helping her. He literally saw him self in jinx when he was younger and led her to the same path and using her for his dream, and i know he cared for her but that does not mean he was a good influence. His relationship with powder was deaply toxic if you look at it in a realistic perspective, she had issues after episode 3 and instead of helping her he encouraged her and told her there is nothing wrong with you which is a lie no matter how you look at it because imagine going to an asylum and saying to patients your perfect the way you are that is not a healthy mindset.
@I like cats and dogs Really nice response and also I just wanted to pop in an add another angle - in my opinion, when it comes to fiction, it isn't fair to apply them directly to our real world and pass judgement that way. Because it isn't our world, and it doesn't have our norms and rules, so how is it fair to apply the exact same system of justice? Zaun is a dog eats dog world. By our logic, Vander and Vi suck for not giving Powder the proper mental care she needed, except of course that's not fair because they had their hands full and Zaun doesn't have easy access to such resources.
@I like cats and dogs that is a valid point and i know its not fair to judge characters based on reality, this is fiction after all but i get so clouded by my irritation that people actually defends this characters choices just because he is nice to 1 person and forgets that he made an entire city hooked on drugs but i get what you are saying and it makes sense. But I just always compare characters to reality thats just how i am and i guess that makes me slightly based, but i will say that silco is an exellent villain.
Vi calls her and Cait oil and water, but we see Caits blood mixing with that water pretty well. Looks like they do go together. We also see as Cait is replaying that moment in time, when she gets to the point where she remembers Vi saying to forget her, she's chewing her lip and giving a very slight headshake to say "No", she won't forget about her.
Started to watch your reactions/channel with Arcane - very entertaining, you two have a nice dynamic. Kinda looked forward to the next episode - rare thing. Best of luck and thank you for sharing.

Great video. One thing I noticed is that when Vi gives up her sister, it's the only time she refers to her as Jinx. Vi calls her Powder in every other scene. It's like she views Powder as her sister, but Jinx as Silco's daughter, they're like two separate people in her mind. She refuses to acknowledge what her sister has become, and her role in that. Just an interesting detail I love.
Also, in the opening scene, I think it's shot that way to show two things. First is that even though she's no longer behind bars, she still left her sister (half of her face is covered by bars). And we see Silco picking up the pieces of Jinx that Vi left behind again. A reverse of the first scene of the season. Instead of Vander bringing his daughters home, it's Silco taking his daughter home while Vi is on the other side.
just in case you dont know how jinx and silco are like father and daughter. Silcos office, he lets jinxs hangout there like bring your kid to work. jinx ashtray and decorated office. he trust her with most all secrets, she runs the top missions. he lets her do her thing without question.
An interesting thing to note in this episode is how the opening scene with Mel and her mom debating what to do with the captured girl comes full circle with Jayce killing the boy. Mommy Medarda's point was that killing one prevents the killing of more, but in Jayce's scene we see a completely different perspective. As Jayce scans the factory he sees the other children staring at him standing over the dead boy and by implication, that he has added more fuel to the hateful fire that so often drives the very cycle of violence he wishes to break. It shows that while we can't know for sure if Mel's instinct to show mercy would've been better, her mother's instinct to choose violence isn't the principle that creates peace like she thinks.
@@hawkins347 Thanks. Something I love about this show is how it sets up and executes parallels within episodes, through its three acts, and throughout its entire plot. They do it better than any show I've seen, which is saying a lot (I watch a lot of TV).
I love your arcane reactions, you guys point out so many details and parallels and it's so nice to finally see some reactors that arent just "I hate jinx cuz she killed everyone in episode 3" or "silco is a bad guy and that's it" or you guys actually take the time to see what they're trying to do with the characters. Idk I feel like the writers might've respected the audience TOO much because theres so many telling details in the show that arent words or taking the forefront, but so many people only go based off of what's said and put in their face which is why they only see the characters as one thing and not complex

This show is so good at immersing you and getting you to feel the emotions it wants you to feel and that scene with Jayce going from the hype of blasting away at the Chemtanks to the dead-stop horror of accidentally killing a kid is a prime example

Ange, let me tell you I get what you mean about obsessing, lol. I've rewatched the show, seen countless different reactions, then rewatched reactions. There's just this void that needs filling, that I haven't felt for any show in a long time if at all. This season of Arcane is frankly the best season of anything I think I've ever seen. It's of course a very subjective statement, but for me it hits full marks on everything. Also I was quite invested in the rat debacle and happy to see it come to a fulfilling conclusion.

The unbridled enthusiasm and the observant takes on the characters is great to see. I have very similar but perhaps slightly different takes. This show is insane because it'll have the most badass hype fight scene that's mind blowing, then abruptly have something absolutely tragic happen without warning. Ok the amount of tears or near tears speaks volumes on how much empathy and care you have toward the characters, so lovely to see. And yeah I was such an Angie during my first watch, team Jinx =) That scene where Caitlyn tries to focus on Silco and straight up lies to the council to protect Vi's sister spoke volumes. Then Vi acts at least partially to say "its ok Cait". And then they find themselves rooting for opposite decisions of the council even tho they came in together to present their case. So good! UPD: Also, first time I think about it. The main villainous trait of Silco to this point was that as understandable as his goals are, his means and lack of care for who suffers in the way made him the bad guy. Ironically this is to some degree what Vi shows when she rages at the council for not waging war with him! Another great irony, yo dem writers are mad good.
You guys should react to the enemy music video by Imagine Dragons. It has 3 and a half minutes worth of exclusive animations we don't see from the show that provides more backstory to the characters in the show.
New to the channel, and loved that react. This show is so good and they did it equal enough to the games (so game fans be happy) and they did it well enough to make people who don't know the game interested and engaged to the show, so well done.
For like 2 weeks after the final arcane act aired I would just watch the ekko/jinx scene several times everyday. It's sooooo well done. It just kept giving me chills even after I'd seen it dozens of times

Love these reaction videos! There's also a pretty cool video of a therapist reacting to the relationship between Jinx and Silco that is actually pretty interesting if you're intrigued by the dynamics of their relationship. Silco legitimately cares and loves Jinx like a daughter and the writing is so good, because you find yourself caring and sometimes even rooting for the "bad guys," I guess because it feels real, that no one is black and white but shades of gray. Easily one of the best shows I've ever seen. And I'm glad I found this channel, you guys are great!

It's hard to pick a side in many of the conflicts that's presented because you learn and understand EVERY character's point of view and motivations. Just because silco loves his daughter, doesn't excuse all the things he's doing. He's still obviously a very bad guy. He engages in child labor, got pretty much all his underlings hooked on shimmer, and encourages violent behaviour in Jinx. EDIT: Vi is NOT fighting Zaun as a whole. She went after a specific target, the shimmerfactory. She's trying to destroy what made Zaun fall even deeper into misery than it already was.

Love Victors running scene as it mirrors when he was a kid in his flashback. He puts his toy boat in the stream but can't keep up with it but now he is running, faster than the boats on the ocean in the background.
Silco is my favorite character in this season, and one of my favorite chracters I think of all time (along with Askeladd from Vinland Saga, Boromir from LOTR and a few others) characters that have a good heart and a misunderstood/twisted method. Also love that you can visibly see how invested Ange is from ep 1 compared to now. Carlie's thoery that Singed is Savicka's father is something I've never heard before but is super cool, never even occured to me! Theres alot of league content out there and most of it is good! Theres even a documentary (based around the pro gaming scene though, but still interesting). Can't wait for you guys to see ep 9! Love from SE QLD :)
Btw for anyone who didn’t know. VI’s weapon from the game are the gauntlets and Jayce’s weapon is his hammer. So watching them actually use there weapons from the game had me screaming
After you finish Arcane, you should watch the Tales of Runeterra series, which I'm sure a million people will suggest, and for good reason. Similar art-style and pace. But they're shorts that introduce you to more parts of the lore and world of Runeterra. All of them feature characters from the game. Very fun and enjoyable to watch, mostly lighthearted, nowhere near as dark as Arcane.
Watching you watch the fight sequence at the end and laughing and loving Jayce with the Hammer (and its a magnificent action sequence) and me knowing what was coming was like: "3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . and we're sad again." Great reaction!

I saw someone comment about how effective the show is in its message of "violence isn't good". This episode is a good example, because it gets you hyped by the fighting Vi and Jayce does, just to hit you with a gut punch in your excitement.
In regards to the Cait and Vi scene. Vi want's to go after Silco and knows Cait won't let her go alone. So to protect her, she pushes her away. Their relationship definitely isn't over though, I think we will get some romance in season 2. Also, Vi wants war against Silco not the people of Zaun. And let's be honest, Silco hasn't exactly been good for Zaun. There definitely is closure in episode 9, I think it ends perfectly - wraps up most of the character arcs then lays ground work for season 2.

They purposefully get you all riled up during that fight scene with Jayce and Vi and you can tell they are as well, and then they snap you out of it violently together with Jayce when he realizes what he has done. They make you literally feel bad for enjoying all the mayhem when you realize what the war really means. Absolutely brilliant..

I appreciate the detail that Silco, who doesn't do his own dirty work, picked up and carried Jinx himself. He had two big burly guys with him, he could have told them to carry her, but he did it himself. It shows he actually cares about her.
My reaction to Jayce and Vi's fight is very similar to Ange's reaction in that it's a very cool fight scene and all, but it feels like that's not the right move, but I don't know what else Vi could do.
Actually Viktor locked the door but Sky as a assistant has a key and we even see her opening the door :)

FUN FACT: In episode 6 when VI is hurt and seeing stuff, you see powder drawing on the cave wall if you pause you see its a slug monster and a crab monster the same ones Vi explained to Cait her and powder used to make up during there games as kids. i agreed and understand with Vi on why she has to fight Zaun even though she's from the undercity. Because on ep 7, when she talks with Ekko, he described Zaun as "Silco flooded the street with Shimmer, he doesn't care who using it. People died left and right because of Silco or some by Enforcers (meaning Marcus, who works under Silco)." And in ep 6, when she got hurt and jump down 'the neon purple sign', Vi saw many people hurting and hiding in darkness because of Shimmer, she even said "it was never this big" meaning, while Vander was there, she and Powder went there to play and never thought of that place as a dangerous one, it was safe. When you watch through out since Vi got out and return to the undercity, all she sees are people constantly using Shimmer, everybody she knows (good people works with Vander) are either dead, scare to fight back (the short lady helped her in the hostel) or even worse, got addicted like that guy wore glasses. Ekko literally fighting Zaun by his own army of people because he doesn't know anyone from Topside. In the end, undercity isn't undercity anymore in Vi's eyes, it was Zaun, it was Silco's place, the person she by her very own eyes...saw stabbed Vander in the back and ultimately killed him. People saw how much Silco cares for Jinx then suddenly forgot all the things he has done. Even in this episode, in the factory where Vi and Jayce fight, Silco is USING kids to work and even turn them into fighting machines by Shimmer. A good father, yes but that doesn't excuse everything Silco does.

Even if you don’t think they’d listen, you could always be proven wrong in the best way just like Vi was proven wrong when Silco was willing to negotiate with Jayce. (If these two dunces would have bargained for more than two minutes, they could’ve also come up with a peace deal that didn’t end with Jinx in Stillwater, one that Silco would’ve agreed to, but nooooo)

Truly, she should’ve agreed with Jayce about switching tactics. It doesn’t even have to be diplomacy (though that’d be the ideal). They could’ve just gone stealth instead of attacking head-on! I’m not a Vi hater. I love her for most of the show, but this bit made me look at her in a new light.
The scene at the beginning with Vi and Silko parallels episode 3, when Vi also couldn't do anything to help Powder because she was kidnapped by Marcus.
Silko loves Jinx, but this doesn't negate the fact that due to his trauma he did not help Powder cope with her trauma, but only aggravated it.
Vi and Silko both cared and loved her, but both made mistakes.

Silco is probably my favourite character but it's really hard to argue that he isn't a bad guy IMO. He definitely cares for Jinx but just remember that if he had not related so much to her situation in episode 3 he would have killed her. He is using kids to work in his shimmer factories, we know what shimmer has done to the Lanes and it has not been a positive change. Silco does not care about that and only wants to achieve his goal of making Zaun independant, even if it kills his people, just like Vander said in episode 3. I think his handling of Jinx trauma is also very bad, telling her she has too mentally kill Powder in order to escape from the past is not a good coping mechanism and might be the worst advice I've heard lol. He did not know Vi was alive but as soon as he found out he went out to kill her so she would not get to Jinx. Her trauma is of course not easy to fix (if at all possible) but if there is someone who can begin to make it better it would be Vi. Remember how she reacted when they were reunited in episode 6, it is clear Jinx wants to be with her sister but after all the years of Silco telling her he is the only one she can trust it is hard. Seeing Vi with and enforcer certainly doesn't help either. I understand why Silco does not want Jinx to see Vi but it is an incredibly selfish act.
But the fact that I've written all this out from memory just speaks to how great of a character he, and just Arcane as a show, is. Probably my favourite "villain" of all time :)
Agreed. I don't really like when folks try to overlook obvious "flaws" in a monstrous character because they're well written with complexities and nuance. Or they show care for something or someone. Silco talks about how piltover had them working in mines with unbreathable air but he has them addicted to deforming drugs ontop of the child labour as if he's any better.
He lies to Jinx about Vi, saying she was there for the crystal and not her. Then manipulates her through their shared trauma of being abandoned/Betrayed in order to get her to finish working on the hextech weapon. He cares about her sure. But honestly the sigma response to that is so? He's still Silco lmao.
Also Also. When he said Vi teaming up with Jayce is Vi going against Zaun. Silco isn't Zaun. I could probably even argue he's against Zaun.
Silco is a good man who learned bad ways in order to survive. Happens all the time, nice guy gets his heartbroken & now he's a savage, but it only takes that one person to remind him that he's really a marshmallow deep down. Jinx was that person for SIlco.
Rather than the villian or 'bad guy' I'd call him the antagonist.

Jinx feels as though Vi doesn't love her, Vi loves Powder, but not Jinx. That Vi can't accept her for who she is now and still love her. Silco has never been shown to try to change who Jinx is, if anything, he lets her be who she wants even if everyone else thinks less of her and himself for it. He didn't shape her personality, he gave her room to shape it herself. Yes he wanted to help her let Powder die, but if that was about him only loving her for who he made her he would have done that YEARS ago. He did it right then because it wasn't about him, he was trying to help her with her anxiety she was having at the time, and it did help cause the next time we see her she's rocking out to her music and working undisturbed by her trauma. He does love her unconditionally, that includes if she were to change. At first, yes he took her in because he saw himself in her, but he came to love Jinx for Jinx no matter who she may be.

I also don’t think that Silco would be so accepting of Jinx if she went back to having more parts of her “Powder” personality become primary. He didn’t tell her to let the “Powder” part die previously because it wasn’t affecting what he was asking her to do. Now it is. With her wrecking the shimmer shipment. And freaking out about working on the Hex gem.
He tells her that “Jinx” is perfect. But she isn’t just Jinx. She’s also Powder. Given time I think Vi could have come to terms with her new alter, and helped her reconcile and integrate them as a new whole. Silco wouldn’t, he wanted her to kill one part of herself.
I like that in the discussion both of you came to the actualisation that there are no villains. I blame no one in this show (although it's fiction) for the choices that they make. It's all about perspectives, and you can understand why each character is doing what they do. The show is absolutely fantastic and episode is gonna make Carlie cry up a storm. hmm i respect your opinion but i have to disagree with you, while yes we can understand silcos choices and why he is doing what he is doing does not mean he's not in the wrong. It might just be me but even tho its fiction i always think "what if this was in the real world" and if this was real lets be honest silco would be in jail and people would have hated him for encouriging a mentally damaged child instead of helping her. He literally saw him self in jinx when he was younger and led her to the same path and using her for his dream, and i know he cared for her but that does not mean he was a good influence. His relationship with powder was deaply toxic if you look at it in a realistic perspective, she had issues after episode 3 and instead of helping her he encouraged her and told her there is nothing wrong with you which is a lie no matter how you look at it because imagine going to an asylum and saying to patients your perfect the way you are that is not a healthy mindset.
@I like cats and dogs Really nice response and also I just wanted to pop in an add another angle - in my opinion, when it comes to fiction, it isn't fair to apply them directly to our real world and pass judgement that way. Because it isn't our world, and it doesn't have our norms and rules, so how is it fair to apply the exact same system of justice? Zaun is a dog eats dog world. By our logic, Vander and Vi suck for not giving Powder the proper mental care she needed, except of course that's not fair because they had their hands full and Zaun doesn't have easy access to such resources.

But I just always compare characters to reality thats just how i am and i guess that makes me slightly based, but i will say that silco is an exellent villain.
Vi calls her and Cait oil and water, but we see Caits blood mixing with that water pretty well. Looks like they do go together.
We also see as Cait is replaying that moment in time, when she gets to the point where she remembers Vi saying to forget her, she's chewing her lip and giving a very slight headshake to say "No", she won't forget about her.

Great video. One thing I noticed is that when Vi gives up her sister, it's the only time she refers to her as Jinx. Vi calls her Powder in every other scene. It's like she views Powder as her sister, but Jinx as Silco's daughter, they're like two separate people in her mind. She refuses to acknowledge what her sister has become, and her role in that. Just an interesting detail I love.
Very interesting take. These intentional details by the writers are incredible….
Also, in the opening scene, I think it's shot that way to show two things. First is that even though she's no longer behind bars, she still left her sister (half of her face is covered by bars). And we see Silco picking up the pieces of Jinx that Vi left behind again. A reverse of the first scene of the season. Instead of Vander bringing his daughters home, it's Silco taking his daughter home while Vi is on the other side.
just in case you dont know how jinx and silco are like father and daughter. Silcos office, he lets jinxs hangout there like bring your kid to work.
jinx ashtray and decorated office. he trust her with most all secrets, she runs the top missions. he lets her do her thing without question.

An interesting thing to note in this episode is how the opening scene with Mel and her mom debating what to do with the captured girl comes full circle with Jayce killing the boy. Mommy Medarda's point was that killing one prevents the killing of more, but in Jayce's scene we see a completely different perspective. As Jayce scans the factory he sees the other children staring at him standing over the dead boy and by implication, that he has added more fuel to the hateful fire that so often drives the very cycle of violence he wishes to break. It shows that while we can't know for sure if Mel's instinct to show mercy would've been better, her mother's instinct to choose violence isn't the principle that creates peace like she thinks.

I love your arcane reactions, you guys point out so many details and parallels and it's so nice to finally see some reactors that arent just "I hate jinx cuz she killed everyone in episode 3" or "silco is a bad guy and that's it" or you guys actually take the time to see what they're trying to do with the characters. Idk I feel like the writers might've respected the audience TOO much because theres so many telling details in the show that arent words or taking the forefront, but so many people only go based off of what's said and put in their face which is why they only see the characters as one thing and not complex

Ange, let me tell you I get what you mean about obsessing, lol. I've rewatched the show, seen countless different reactions, then rewatched reactions. There's just this void that needs filling, that I haven't felt for any show in a long time if at all. This season of Arcane is frankly the best season of anything I think I've ever seen. It's of course a very subjective statement, but for me it hits full marks on everything.
Also I was quite invested in the rat debacle and happy to see it come to a fulfilling conclusion.

The unbridled enthusiasm and the observant takes on the characters is great to see. I have very similar but perhaps slightly different takes. I love that the characters are all so grey and complex rather than just 'good' or 'bad'. Would be fun to have a more in-depth discussion once you've finished the show haha.

I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel the other day!! You guys have so much empathy and understanding for each character and it's refreshing to see genuine reactions towards them all. This show is insane because it'll have the most badass hype fight scene that's mind blowing, then abruptly have something absolutely tragic happen without warning. The emotional whiplash and shock it creates is what makes it a masterpiece. Your guys' facial expressions to the Vi + Jayce fight was SO RELATABLE LMAO

Ok the amount of tears or near tears speaks volumes on how much empathy and care you have toward the characters, so lovely to see. And yeah I was such an Angie during my first watch, team Jinx =) That scene where Caitlyn tries to focus on Silco and straight up lies to the council to protect Vi's sister spoke volumes. Then Vi acts at least partially to say "its ok Cait". And then they find themselves rooting for opposite decisions of the council even tho they came in together to present their case. So good!
UPD: Also, first time I think about it. The main villainous trait of Silco to this point was that as understandable as his goals are, his means and lack of care for who suffers in the way made him the bad guy. Ironically this is to some degree what Vi shows when she rages at the council for not waging war with him! Another great irony, yo dem writers are mad good.

For like 2 weeks after the final arcane act aired I would just watch the ekko/jinx scene several times everyday. It's sooooo well done. It just kept giving me chills even after I'd seen it dozens of times

Love these reaction videos! There's also a pretty cool video of a therapist reacting to the relationship between Jinx and Silco that is actually pretty interesting if you're intrigued by the dynamics of their relationship. Silco legitimately cares and loves Jinx like a daughter and the writing is so good, because you find yourself caring and sometimes even rooting for the "bad guys," I guess because it feels real, that no one is black and white but shades of gray. Easily one of the best shows I've ever seen. And I'm glad I found this channel, you guys are great!

Your reactions are so great! I love how you two notice the season's "focus" on duality. It's hard to pick a side in many of the conflicts that's presented because you learn and understand EVERY character's point of view and motivations. Just because silco loves his daughter, doesn't excuse all the things he's doing. He's still obviously a very bad guy. He engages in child labor, got pretty much all his underlings hooked on shimmer, and encourages violent behaviour in Jinx.
EDIT: Vi is NOT fighting Zaun as a whole. She went after a specific target, the shimmerfactory. She's trying to destroy what made Zaun fall even deeper into misery than it already was.
The childs are paid and the only job safe for kids in the undercity.

Silco is my favorite character in this season, and one of my favorite chracters I think of all time (along with Askeladd from Vinland Saga, Boromir from LOTR and a few others) characters that have a good heart and a misunderstood/twisted method.
Also love that you can visibly see how invested Ange is from ep 1 compared to now. Carlie's thoery that Singed is Savicka's father is something I've never heard before but is super cool, never even occured to me!
Theres alot of league content out there and most of it is good! Theres even a documentary (based around the pro gaming scene though, but still interesting).

After you finish Arcane, you should watch the Tales of Runeterra series, which I'm sure a million people will suggest, and for good reason. Similar art-style and pace. But they're shorts that introduce you to more parts of the lore and world of Runeterra. All of them feature characters from the game. Very fun and enjoyable to watch, mostly lighthearted, nowhere near as dark as Arcane.
I had the same reaction to Jayce turning the hammer into a gun. I immediately had to rewind and watch that part again. So sick.

Still watching this reaction... I love how Carlie so excited for the possible incoming fight scene.Then Suddenly Angie shifts his mood bcoz the fight scene is epic and cant hide his smile 😆. Freaking hilarious. Best reaction 😆 both of you are just enjoying it like a normal couple bonding in weekends and not thinking about the views 🤟.
I saw someone comment about how effective the show is in its message of "violence isn't good". This episode is a good example, because it gets you hyped by the fighting Vi and Jayce does, just to hit you with a gut punch in your excitement.

In regards to the Cait and Vi scene. Vi want's to go after Silco and knows Cait won't let her go alone. So to protect her, she pushes her away. Their relationship definitely isn't over though, I think we will get some romance in season 2. Also, Vi wants war against Silco not the people of Zaun. And let's be honest, Silco hasn't exactly been good for Zaun. There definitely is closure in episode 9, I think it ends perfectly - wraps up most of the character arcs then lays ground work for season 2.

Another reason why this show is a masterpiece. They purposefully get you all riled up during that fight scene with Jayce and Vi and you can tell they are as well, and then they snap you out of it violently together with Jayce when he realizes what he has done. They make you literally feel bad for enjoying all the mayhem when you realize what the war really means. Absolutely brilliant..

considering season 1 was made in 6 years, we will need to wait like 3 years for seaon 2. They confirmed that Season 2 WONT come out in 2O22, but it wont take 6 years to make it. So something between 2-4 years for season 2 to come out

I appreciate the detail that Silco, who doesn't do his own dirty work, picked up and carried Jinx himself. He had two big burly guys with him, he could have told them to carry her, but he did it himself. It shows he actually cares about her.
My reaction to Jayce and Vi's fight is very similar to Ange's reaction in that it's a very cool fight scene and all, but it feels like that's not the right move, but I don't know what else Vi could do.
