The first time I watched this was when stationed in Germany. We watched it over and over and one of the guys in my squad - Tom - would mimic him at odd times. Odd times, but for me, they were the best times of my life. While watching this, I pictured Tom doing the routine and that made me smile. Thank you for that smile.
Loved Bob Nelson and saw Him countless times in the 1980's on Long Island ... As you can see here , Just a couple of His influences were Jerry Lewis and Charlie Callas .. Nelson was an awesome Comedian and you would leave His shows with tears in your eyes from laughing ...
I saw this live the night it came on the first time ever. I remember laughing so hard I almost died, I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard.THANKS FOR POSTING !!!
I remember seeing this, along with the greats Sam Kinison and Jerry Seinfeld on Dangerfields, broadcast then on HBO. Rodney Dangerfield really helped launch some of these guys. This small audience stand-up was awesome. Bob Nelsons boxing skit was the best... Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? .... one of my favorite comedy lines of all times
I saw the same show on--what was it, HBO or Showtime, back when they and The Movie Channel were the only major cable channels. He was also a bit comedy actor in the movie Kindergarten Cop. He also had a bigger role and starred alongside John Turturro in the movie "Brain Donors" (based on the movie "A Night at the Opera" by the Marx Brothers). I have it on DVD, because, although it's not well-known, it's absolutely hilarious (if you like slapstick comedy). He and Rowan Atkinson are two of the greatest clown actors still around today.
I'm torn on how I feel about "taking the poison" out. On one hand, it was his 'One Night Stand special on HBO back in the late 80s that was my introduction to stand up comedy; because it was clean, I was allowed to watch it as a little kid, and it opened up a world to me. But I gotta be honest - it was shortly after that when I then went back and caught his original material from the early eighties (like this one) and it was/is flawless. You can tell that the acts back then we're much more organic and energetic, which really drove home Bob's talent. He's still brilliant to this very day but I do feel that, while the bits have been tailored and refined to suit audiences of younger ages, a good deal of appeal is lost. When I watch this clip specifically, my brain truly feels like it's watching an actual crazy person whereas, in later renditions, I'm fully aware it's an act. But again, I'm grateful that Bob decided to clean up the act because otherwise, I may not have been exposed to it when I was.
"I had.. what. I had what! I had what! I had what! what! what! WHAT! WHAT!? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT??!!" LMAO!!!! That had me literally on the floor trying to catch my breath! XD
Man, I've never heard about Bob Nelson before. This guy is fucking awesome. And noticed that Key and Peele made a very similar sketch to that Football player introducing themselves
Always loved Bob Nelson. Check out another comedian named Charlie Callas. This character had a very similar psychosis to his. Charlie Callas used to appear regularly on the Dean Martin Roasts...
Bob Nelson as an overlooked, unsung MASTER of Standup. ... I'm totally amazed that I only discovered him today ... when there's so much Dane Cook-Amy Schumer quality SHIT on the market these days.
This was funny to me as a kid and I've never forgotten - I think every Jeff I meet as "Jiffy Jeff" at some point; but brain damage isn't funny to old man me.
A great comedian no matter how long it's been compared to now we're a comedian doesn't know how to say jokes they think they're just going to get by insulting a great president
The sjw's haven't complained to take this site down yet. So watch while you can. Bob really knows the characters he portrays. I know there are people exactly like Jeff. A guy that boxes and maybe took one to many punches to the head. It in truth it's sad but it's also friggin funny he nails it so well. He's a comedian from a time we wernt so afraid to laugh at ourselves, or engage in talking to each other.
Probably my favorite stand up routine ever. Classic!
My sister's and I use to watch Bob as kid's. It's so fun to reflect on memories and good comedy.
Bob Nelson is a gut buster. Laughed at it in the 80's and still laughing.

Thank you for that smile.
It's one thing to tell a good joke, it is another to be able to completely entertain!! Nelson was one of the best at that.

On Rodney Dangerfieds comedy. Bob Nelson#1 and Sam Kinason#2 are the best.. Jerry Seinfeld, Robert Townsend, and Roseanne Barr were good 2
This is so funny thanks for the laughs again.

I was so lucky to see this bit at the comedy store in Hollywood. I wish you well sweetie. ❤
I remember this from the 80's. I'm still LMAO! This one made me spit out my beer across the room. Comics just aren't comics anymore.

Bob met Red Skelton years ago & Red advised him to take "the poison" out of his comedy!!! I got to open for him a few times. Words to live by!!!

Can you imagine the prep work it takes to come up with this a skit like this?
ayokay123 the fact that he played that character for over 7 minutes straight is brilliant
Man this guy is hilarious! Lavell Crawford mentioned him and brought me here!
Very funny thank you for the video
This is what I had to watch before we had cable.
Bob Nelson is the King of zaniness.
"I had.. what. I had what! I had what! I had what! what! what! WHAT! WHAT!? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT??!!"
LMAO!!!! That had me literally on the floor trying to catch my breath! XD
I ain't much for watching or listening to comedy, but it's very hard to beat the comedy of the 70s and 80s.shit has changed so much
Him and Foster Brooks are my all time favorites
One of my favorite parts of the special.

Lisa Petillo excellent, enjoyed and still do, and all you fucks out there who want to compare it or him to someone else,. go fuck yourself...

I saw him twice in person . He was Hysterical !!!!
I've watched this an unhealthy amount of times
I saw his video on tv doing the football routine back in the late 80's or early 90's. Just as funny now as it was then. Very funny man..

"WHAT, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT" !!!
Hilarious
This guy is (or was) one of the funniest guys in the comedy world. Not unlike Charlie Calis. He even copies Calis a bit!
This seems to be in his transition period where he was trying to reduce the obscenities "fuck, fuck, fucking, fuck, fuck!!!!" and actually be funny.
A great comedian no matter how long it's been compared to now we're a comedian doesn't know how to say jokes they think they're just going to get by insulting a great president
He's doing a Charlie Callas type of routing. Very funny stuff.
routine, I meant
2018????
