I've been a Professional pilot for 45+ years, military (USMC) , corporate and major airline. I just retired after decades as a B-777 pilot for the worlds largest airline. I purchased my first GMT Master 16750 in Hong Kong in 1983 and it was my one watch for over 30 years. In December of 2019, I purchased a black dial Sky Dweller, again in Hong Kong on a layover. I absolutely love both watches and wear them both on trips. In fact, I wore both on my last to to HKG this Summer. Bottom line, it's the perfect wide body, international airline pilot's watch! Oh, and it fits perfectly on my 7-5/8", 19.3 cm wrist.
Being into horology, I am a fan of the 2,500 year old Greek Antikythera mechanism which is where I first became aware of the Saros movement, and is one of the things that intrigued me about the Sky Dweller. Photos of my watches at... instagram.com/1955healey100/
I would agree. The GMT 2 is slightly easier to read the home time IMO. (Full length pointer hand to the outside 24hr bezel vs arrow over the smaller inside 24hr ring.)
I patiently waited eight months and finally got the call from a retail store in Toronto and flew out from Vancouver the next day for the purchase. Have never had such a pleasant, informative, and fun experience buying anything in my life. Thank you Rolex and thank you Susan for your gracious consideration😊

This is so far the only video i've seen with explanation of how to set the sky dweller for a real owner and user in detail and actual scenarios - ie am, pm, going on trip .... Great presentation to appreciate the technology, history, and value of the watch. Sprinkled with a fun level of sarcastic humor.
Nice video and tutorial for the watch usage. I just purchased Sky-Dweller blue stainless steel on jubilee for retail price from local AD. IMO, Sky-Dweller is better looking on jubilee because of fluted bezel, this combo makes the watch classy. In contrary, sport watches looks better on oyster bracelet.
With respect to the Rolesor or, some parts gold, some parts stainless steel, I believe in addition to the bezel being gold - so are all three hands (hour, minute, & seconds) as well as the boxes around the Lume and the crown at the twelve o’clock position. In other words: all the exposed metal inside the glass is gold - so as to not fade, patina, or age over time. Great explanation and video.
I have the 2 tone, white opalescent dial with a jubilee bracelet. The only issues is I wish there was crown case protectors like the gmt and a exhibition back. Overall she is the cat's meow! 😻👌
Are you able to wear it often? I just purchased the watch today and now wondering if I can really wear it about freely. As of now I feel I can only wear it indoors (house parties, bbq etc) or weddings etc
@FABM27 Of course you can wear her every day if you wish. I love folks that walk on by me as they always check out my wrist in a good way with a smile. You don't have to wear a suit, casual/jeans is OK also. Use reasonable judgement to wear her, otherwise wear that Timex.😁😁🤣
I was lucky to get a call from Rolex boutique, Skydweller steel/gold black dial jubilee bracelet . I appreciate your video because im a movement guy. And I have struggled finding good videos on this 9002 movement. Thank you sir for your extensive research on this timepiece.

They are, just not in blue. I'm tossing it around with pulling the trigger on a black dial one, but I'm afraid if I do, the next day a blue will come in.
@@9443-c5b Well, dreams do come true. Rolex has released hard to get watches to AD's that are for display only. My AD has a blue sky dweller, I'm number one on the list and I'm told that eventually they will get the ok to sell. I don't mind waiting, I've already waited two years, what's another few months.
Very complete and excellent review Wei ! Just one comment: you mention 300mts Water Resistance, it is 100mts. Maybe you meant 300 feet (330 acually). Rgds
You're so on point about the legibility of watches once you get into the mid 40s. People bleating on about oversized watches obviously don't have that problem. I love my 36mm Day Date but can I read it with out putting on my specs? Can I boot! My Sky Dweller offers me the opportunity to not have to consider my mortality every time I want to gaze at it's beautiful blue dial!
Most likely not I would be surprised if Rolex ever did that. I know the yacht master comes in 37 as well as 40 but I think that is just a one time thing
I was an international widebody airline pilot, I flew around the world multiple times every month! While Wei neglected to mention this, just like the GMT Master, the Sky Dweller is the perfect watch for the international pilot, whether they be military, corporate or airline.
Some people use the second time zone for Family members that live in a distant time zone, or business partners/customers that live in a distant time zone. I find this complication far more useful than a stop watch such as the Daytona.
@@sypen1 Do you think we fly alone? My airplane holds 350 passengers and most of the time, it's full, at least pre COVID. Each of the big four airlines in the USA flies around 2,500 flights a day, for 10,000 flights just on those four. That's 3.65 million flights a year and a whole hell of a lot of travelers. Translate that to worldwide. Just look at the popularity of the GMT Master for over 65 years, It's a lot more useable than a dive watch where 99.9% DON'T dive, and dive watches are hugely popular. Many of my international passengers are frequent business travelers, and have the money to spent if so inclined. Bottom line, given the fact that the Sky Dweller is near impossible to get, especially the steel blue dial (which is far and above the hardest Rolex to obtain, period), I'd say there is a unfulfillable market for this watch at current production levels.

Nope it’s EVERY March 1. This is an “ANNUAL” Calendar and that means it must be adjusted every single year. (Plus adjusted for daylight savings time if you live where you observe that ). Some other brands make a “PERPETUAL” Calendar watch which tracks which year is “Leap” year and corrects for that and therefore need no adjustment usually for a hundred years or so.
