Not really. The abbey has been “rebuilt” many times (meaning drastic reforms to the new styles) but the builder was King St. Edward the Confessor, who’s also an ancestor of Edward III.
I do family tree research as part of my job and I wish more folks were as down to earth and engaged with the history as Danny Dyer. Most folks who use our services are incredibly posh and entitled . You would not believe the number of people who yelled at me when I told them they aren't descended from aristocracy :(

It is estimated that over 1 million Britons are descended from William the Conquerer (that’s 1 in 60 ish) so it’s not that unusual especially if you exclude people that know their family arrived to the UK later via immigration. The hardest part is making the connection into a documented line as royal heritage is quickly forgotten after just a few generations. It would also appear that I am related to Danny as Edward III is my 16th great grandfather!

I found out that I was directly related to Charlemagne by way of my English ancestors who came to Virginia in the 1620s. From there, I traced my family through several English nobility, then French nobility, and eventually Charlemagne. He would be my (a large number of greats) great grandfather.

I’ve been researching our family for over 20 years. George Washington our first president is a distant cousin. My grandfather died when I was just 8 years old. He always said his own dad was a only child and was brought over from Hungary in 1908. Thank god for the internet as I found my great grandfathers ship manifest…… he was not a only child. He had nine brothers and sisters all listed on the ships passenger list. I also hired a Hungarian genealogist who went to The Hungarian document center in Arad. He got birth certificates/marriage certificates and tons of family information for BOTH my great grandad and grandmother! I would of never been able to do any of this as I can’t read Hungarian or even knew where to look. I am so thankful to have met a honest professional genealogist! ❤ Looking forward to visiting Budapest someday soon! ❤
