I just found out about how Dan Harmon created a toxic workplace for Megan, and now I have a whole new perspective when listening to this episode in particular. I'm sure there's a lot of other people listening here who don't know how valuable Megan's insights are on how Rob and Kaitlin's workplace relationship got started.
I wish Kaitlin was on the pod more often - she brings the best out of the boys
She somehow steals the show and makes everyone else funnier at the same time. It’s kinda like what she does in hundreds of “Sunny” episodes
It's sad hearing Meg talk about sexual harassment from bosses considering her experiences on Community. She made the show greater and I'm glad she now works with these guys and they clearly are genuine friends.
Yeah she wrote amazing episodes in Community.. when she talked about taking a time machine to tell your younger self about something..
We got a peek into her brain and reminded me of some of the Abed Sci fi episodes
It is so incredibly wholesome that Rob's son saw he was bummed out and gave him advice (cat memes) - and it WORKED! What a lovely father-son relationship.
I loved watching their interaction on Wrexham. It’s fun to watch their relationship on screen, reminds me of me and my fam. Cracked me up when Rob did some weird nervous movements and his son asked ‘what the hell was that?’
“It’s only harassment if it doesn’t lead to marriage and children” I love Charlie
It took literally 0 seconds for Charlie to start messing with Kaitlin lol
i think when someone has the comedic chops like Kaitlin, she can handle a Charlie Day or two
I gave your use of the word "literally" an ocular pat down, and you're good. 0:00
@@tylerdurden4285 Thank you for assessing the threat level and keeping all of us safe
"Sometimes people take me aside to tell me that you are the best boss that they have ever had. Which is a horrific waste of my time" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 gosh i love you so much kaitlin!!!
I'm glad they're waiting on Glenn to come back for the Gang hits the road because that episode is top notch Sunny.
That's one of my favorite episodes because I lived right next to the Italian market for a few years. I love seeing them in places I know
Has my favorite scene in the whole series.. mac hitting the bike rider In the head with a beer bottle
@@chardeemacdennis3852 That's one of the most silly moments in the show! Along with Frank ditching the tour boat. "Welcome to Philly!"
Bruh the "shit" Dee does when she looks at how much piss was in that jar is still the funniest shit I've ever seen
Rob has come across as nothing short of an exceptional, understanding father. In the Welcome to Wrexham trailer he speaks of his relationship with his father, and always explains his emotions to his boys in such a sincere manner. He's raising them rignt.
You're so right! I think part of the reason the podcast is so good is that they're all so down to Earth as people despite relative success in their careers.
I have a quote saved from Glenn from some magazine, where he waxes very eloquent about materialism and soullessness in modern culture. These guys seem like they play deranged sociopaths for fun and it only helps them be even more normal awesome people in RL
Rob wears a lot of hats, it's cool to hear him openly talk about being stressed trying to produce a great show we all come to expect. Keep up the great work guys, we love ya!
Also trying to keep up with Wrexham AFC and all that kaka too
Let's hope that we get a new season and Wrexham AFC get promoted
@@BloodInkFilms LOL a flat brimmed Wrexham A.F.C. hat of course! 🧢
What are you talking about? I've only seen him wear the same hat, and he usually never even has one on.
Charlie: I hate touching people and being touched. Also Charlie: *hugs Kaitlyn the moment he walks into the room* The friendship between everyone is Sunny is so wholesome and precious 😭🙏🏻🤍
I appreciate Glenn’s attention to recapping episodes properly in this case. The road trip episode is one of my favorite!
It's also one of my favorites and was the first episode I seen of the show.
The commentary track on that episode is so funny. They're just loving the episode while discussing it
That episode is the first I show to sunny beginners. Not because I think it's the funniest, but because it's not over the top crazy.
It would be sick if they did an episode that was completely written by Kaitlyn and Danny. I'm surprised they never have yet. It'd be interesting to see what they'd come up with haha
It's always entertaining when a bird gets into an office. Great episode.
i love when kaitlin is on the pod 💓 we need all five of the gang on the pod in the 100th episode
Caitlin almost wears a Charlie Kelly outfit in this episode.
"which is a horrific waste of my time"... Easily the best delivered line of the entire podcast run so far, I think I woke my neighbors up laughing that hard. Amazing Kaitlin.
The Gang: we're nothing like our characters
Also the Gang: the discussion over putting their nose to the grindstone.
@@cmiller584 Rob literally says "I'm fast, like a cat" in this episode. Theres a reason why he plays Mac
More Kaitlin, please. I got sad end of this episode (great, btw) knowing it may be months before she's back.
@@jsmithers. but i feel like it didn't count because it was the live episode, i'd like to hear from him in less chaos
55:18 killer line Megan.
“Isn’t that how you guys bought this house?” Lol
The reason Rob got drunk that day is because he wasn't following The Glenn Rule: you only drink clear liquor and for every shot, you drink 500mls of distilled water.
Right, cause when you drink this way,the victim...Oh sorry, the date will be much more intoxicated come evenings end and you will have a much easier time making a deposit.
32:37 Kaitlyn was just even more determined with the challenge. They seem to have a great dynamic and partnership. And I appreciate them reminding people that marriage is hard and isn't just a steady happy ride.
I found it extremely disturbing the way they brushed aside Rob's story about sexual harassment. What he describes, and what Kaitlin describes before she realizes what it is, is sexual harassment by the definition they read right before. It went well with her and Rob, but the fact that she brushes what she did aside and starts rationalizing rather than accepting and addressing what she did, that's not OK. That's what men have been doing for decades and it's finally being addressed to some extent. Her reaction is a step in the wrong direction.
Dee throwing her piss out the window and then it hitting Mac is top tier comedy. Can’t wait to see what the boys have to say about it 😂
Runaway train plays all the time at work and I always yell “IS THAT PISS” and no one understands why
“That’s just smelling your work every now and then,” was excellent.
I adore Charlie for the same reason I’m afraid of Glenn: the Venn diagram between them and their characters is a circle 😂
The one thing I love about you guys is that no matter how big and famous you get, you seem to never forget what it was like to be one of us. You guys immediately know when you start complaining about too many offices and cars that the majority of your audience can't relate, and you always make it into something enjoyable. I'm glad you're all successful! You all deserve it!
Rob in particular. Very thoughtful in that way, I really appreciate that about him.
He’s just a regular dude who can meet the King Of England, and also be ready to arm his sons with bats and lead them into battle against the perverters of justice in line at the hamburger store. Whoever says “chivalry is dead” need only look to Rob McElhenney.
Agree. The Sunny guys never feel like typical Hollywood types who forget what it’s like to be a average person with real world problems. It’s so good to not feel looked down and to see that fame didn’t ruin any of these guys or make them forget where they came from. God bless them and their lovely families! 🙏🏻🤍
The difference between Rob and Charlie’s posture on the Office Sofa is Hilarious😂
This was an extra sweet episode of the podcast. You see a different side of people when they’re their significant other. It brings something out. Bless Rob for being so honest and vulnerable. Opening up like that. And Kaitlin telling us about that day. Heavy stuff. Going through the motions. I can relate.
I and many other audience members do love these non-episode episodes Rob, do as many as you see fit
Why did you adress ROB? Is he the sea captain? Hopefully charlie has some say too.
@@christofferjenzen78 Rob was the one that said the viewers would rather have the podcast be about breaking down the episodes.
Rob, thank you so much for being real about struggling for a day. I'm struggling today so it helped to hear that someone I admire struggles occasionally.
I only learned recently that Kaitlin did the voice of the whale shark in Finding Dory. She absolutely crushed that!. She was always my favourite character from the film.
@@Sameer-es9vs Destiny (especially with her glasses) is my family's favorite because whale sharks are my youngest daughters favorite animal. :) Personally I like Crush the most, cause like he's a dad... but also *dude*... 😆
One of my favorite "goddammit" deliveries by Kaitlin is the Thundergun episode when she gets her foot stuck in the sewer with Charlie XD
When she went off on that rich Karen after she gets the new Range Rover was awesome, too. She went straight Dennis Golden God mode
Missed Glenn this episode, but it was nice to have Kaitlin over to do questions in his absence. Glad you're waiting for him to return to do The Gang Hits The Road. He's right, you've got to have all three to do the rewatch episodes or it's going to feel unsatisfying to the creeps and listeners, so please never do an episode discussion/rewatch when one of you is away!!!
Btw, noticed Meg blurred out the laptop screen - good call!
@@paul-nj1ig It's how they refer to people who are consuming the podcast as a video, rather than just audio. As for why, I'm not entirely certain either.
@@paul-nj1ig because people who just listen to the podcast are listeners, and they used to call people who watched it also “watchers” but then changed it to creeps bc i guess watching and listening to someone sounds creepy 😭
@@drpibisback7680 the why behind that is Glen forgot the word for viewers and thought watchers was ridiculous and in his frustration he called the viewers "the creeps" as a joke of course. Then Rob later said in a future pod he felt the term "Creeps" was fitting for their fans and was in line with the comedy involved in the show, something like that, I personally love it lol
That last season in Ireland, clearly not autopilotted. It's great stuff. I keep expecting the show to start going down hill due to fatigue as many shows do, but not so far.
The season was kinda weak overall but the Ireland stuff was pretty good, felt awesome having a story arc that spanned consecutive episodes.
@@NUTTY-nw4edseason 10 was definitely the first time I felt it was weak for a lot of episodes, but 11 is a favorite of mine and it's been mostly good since then.
@@my5head Fair enough. I can't quite put a finger on why, just seems they play caricatures of there old characters, like they forgot how to write them naturally so now write them as they think they should? It all feels to staged and forced, and they all look to rich and well groomed for people who live there lives like that. Maybe thats just me though, glad people still enjoy it
As a philly native; ( SW.Philly) I never thought the show would last this long. As a native, and comedy aficionado, it's such a pleasure to get the feeling one gets from watching a new Always Sunny episode...I can't wait to see Danny and Dee doing their thing. Kaitlin is just the gold standard for comedic actresses. Shes funny, shes gracious, she has the humility of a saint. Hacks is one of the best things ever filmed. We can rave about Kaitlin for the rest of our lives and she will still be underrated. Shes that good.
It is amazing how Kaitlin can portray a complete bird like Dee and then be knock out gorgeous in just everyday clothes. amazing comedic reflexes as well.
She looks so good! You can see how they downplay her attractiveness on the show.
Kaitlin seriously deserves more praise and roles. She is hilarious and so talented. One of the funniest in hollywood forsure.
Shes in a class of legendary physical comedians. Shes like the female Chevy Chase imo (obvi she is much nicer on a personal level 😂)

Shes had work done too just like mac and glen! charlie is a question.
Damn, I love love love how genuine and open Rob is with his feelings nd his relationships, something to strive for.
Probably has been therapy for sure. Probably still attends to be able to rant or keep himself in a good head space from work pressure, dad pressure, and just basic life stuff. I get a feeling he’s trying to break something that’s had a long horrific effect of generations of his family. Just the way he speaks he’s done hard work. I’ve got so much respect for the guy. Like him taking his sons advice and not thinking “yeah whatever your just a kid” in his head. And it helped! Helped me too! : )
Megan Ganz: I wanted to **thank you so much** for getting more involved in this podcast than just producing, because I'm ashamed to admit if I only see someone's name flashing by in the credits I often forget them between shows or miss that they worked in previous projects I loved.
I have been a huge fan of yours for longer than I knew who you were! The only comedy writers(/producers/etc) I've followed "behind the scenes" were the many amazing writers from Cracked and College Humor who started doing skits in front of the camera and moved on to write for many of my favourite shows. After seeing you on this podcast I pulled up your IMDB:
* writer on some of my favourite episodes of Community, exec story editor/Producer on some of the best seasons.
* Writer on some amazing episodes of Modern Family, and I'm guessing your guiding touch as producer is what kept me tuned into that show despite being outside my usual "genre"
* Writer/producer on The Last Man on Earth, one of my and my wife's favourite show! Notably I loved all of it, but it wasn't until around season 4 that you were the most involved in that my wife also really fell in love with the series too (When Phil Tandy Miller was notably less of a horn-dogging PoS and instead was a lovely eccentric power-couple with the radiant Carol Pilbasian)
* I enjoyed the understated Important Things and think it only got better in season two
* Likely obvious, but I love Always Sunny and you have written some (and produced even more) of the best episodes of the later seasons. That you've taken a show on its 12th year and found ways with the rest of these amazingly talented people to keep it fresh, relevant, hilarious, and just... **chef kiss!** Episodes like The Gang Tends Bar, Gang Escapes are solid episodes that may be a bit more reserved (comparatively) but show a great understanding of the characters and stood out even more on reviewing. Janitor Mops Twice is an awesome noir parody/homage that still felt "honest" to Always Sunny despite taking them into a whole new level of parody, Dee Day and Time's Up were straight-up slammers and highlights of their seasons, and Corpse up a Mountain I think best highlights the ability you've brought to *so many shows* to bridge the gulf between these extreme personalities and their actual humanity, while maintaining the humor and heart of the characters, while not dipping into full saccharine - a very delicate balance you've repeatedly pulled off! Also the way you've all talked about the process during this podcast makes it clear your influence has been a huge boon to the dynamic of "the boys" and I think reflects on the quality of your behind-the-scenes work as EP.
All of this led me to give Mythic Quest another shot. I didn't expect to like it at first, but no fault of your own - so many shows about game dev are just awful, I prematurely judged MQ! I got pulled in and now I proselytize MQ to everyone I know as a "new Silicon Valley, but even better". I *did not* expect MQ to be the kind of show that has made me flat out bawl... three different times now, I think?
All of this to say: Thank you for your amazing work, I'm excited to see everything you work on!
I love how much depth this adds to the comedy, thanks guys for sharing so much with us
Seeing mac be sweet to dee is always mind blowing to me
Kaitlin is the queen of the dry heave 👌 love her. All the best with season 16. Cannot wait!
Get Jimmi Simpson on the podcast, for real! The live show was nice but I want an actual sit down with him and the guys.
I hope when they do the kitten mittens episode that they have Bryan Unger on. I'm sure he'll be on at some point. He'll walk in and be like "oh great, you're all here" lol
Dee and Charlie episodes are some of my favs!!
Having one of the worst weeks of my life right now and this surprised me in the morning and suddenly all was well. Love you guys
Rob is great and funny in his own right, but honestly I’d love to watch just Charlie and dee riff for an hour like they did in those first opening minutes. I think they’re both such wonderful comedic talents and with Meg as their orchestrator I feel like they could have gone all day
I hope they do a podcast episode with Uncle Jack.
And the other lawyer dude...have him wear sunglasses because of his "eye injury" 😂

The guys are gonna have to call someone to come take care of this bird problem in the writer's room.
I remember watching my dad stare out the window drinking his coffee in the morning. Just looking out the window into the backyard. I always thought that was weird until I hit my 30s and find myself doing it often. It’s calming and it just feels like a nice thing to do.
I love this show! I love that they are all family irl and they created this from nothing. It's truly organic art.

Amazing. She may be one of the most naturally funny of the group, and that's saying something.
Love you guys and how honest this Convo was. I've only watched the bloopers from Sunny but now I want to watch the show.
The fact that she bagged Mac is the most sweet dee thing ever 😂
The show is amazing. Everyone in their life, no matter what they do for a living, will have ups and downs. The show is still one of the funniest and often poignant shows on television. I hope it goes on forever, but if it ends tomorrow, you can all rest easy in the knowledge that you've created possibly the greatest sitcom in television history.
Mythic Quest is also really, really amazing and the episode Rob's sister wrote in the first season was one of the most realistic portrayals of a relationship over decades that I've ever seen. So bittersweet and beautiful.
Been rewatching sunny lately and I think Dee might be my favorite. She’s just too damn good on the show.
These folks seem talented, I hope their show becomes a success!
Gotta say, love that head bob/shake thing that Kaitlin does! Same thing in the game show episode!
Also, Rob, I would say don't feel ashamed for venting! Sure, lots of people are going through some pretty heavy shit but sometimes we just need to vent! Having the realization alone I think keeps us grounded though I do agree. Keep up the great work ya'll!!!
Oddly enough this was one of my favorite episodes of the pod. Lots of fun from start to finish
One of the times the "candle went out" was when Rob met Ryan haha!
The video where Rob hugs Ryan over K at Wrexham game is hilarious
Kaitlin is such a joy to see on the podcast. I don't know what it is, but whenever she is on the energy seems to shift. I love it. I wish she was on more often.
P.s. Thanks for the memes, I needed that haha.
I think it's because Rob and Kaitlin are a married couple, and Meg and Charlie are friends of the couple, so it feels warmer, like friends all catching up. Where as when it's just the guys there's a "serious" work-mode element.
Can’t say how much I love you guys ! Thanks for the laughs ! I need that so bad in my life now
I forget literally every second watching the show that Mac of all characters is the true genius behind it all
Just wat to stop and take a moment to show my appreciation for R.C.G. especially Rob because of what Kaitlin was explaining. It's Always Sunny has been one of my favorite shows of all time for years and always will be, and we all appreciate the hard work you guys put in
I love IASIP so much! Just listening to you guys feels so nostalgic!! I grew up watching this show and learning stuff about you guys in real life is really awesome!
Hey, can I just say a big ass thank you to Meg? Because last week she mentioned how her trainer kept telling her "congratulations you failed" and how it's affected her initially vs later on when she gave a it bit more thought and....wowzers. that mindset has been genuinely helping me look at things within another understanding. And it made me realize that I HAVE been pushing myself in ways I never even realize. That even if I failed or something didn't go the way I has wished, the fact that I tried in the first place and actually put myself out there is what really matters. I've been in my head alot, so thank you Meg!
The show means allot to me and many many others, we do really appreciate the hard work you guys put into sunny, your all awesome :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this podcast. I agree with Glenn on waiting to talk about the "road trip" episode.
Also glad to see kaitlin, she looks great and that Betty white story is awesome!
Anyone else think its cool how big of a fan Meg truly is of the show?
I love this show so much. I will randomly just start laughing because I thought of a scene. Like Dee getting pissed because Dennis just got a little blood coming out his ears and she is covered. It is the greatest comedy of all time for me. Thanks for the hard work to keep it going.
I haven't been this excited for a Sunny season in a long time. With everything they've learned through doing the podcast, a handful of people returning on production/writing/directing... I have full faith they'll keep season 16 just as good as some of the best seasons.
The explanation of being exhausted mentally but physically unable to sleep because you've done no activities that day to tire you out hit me hard, it's been this way for years for me, good to know that comedy writing is like this too.
Love them talking about not wanting any inappropriate casting couch moments while they are sitting on what looks like the set of "Backroom Casting Couch".
Glad they didnt do The gang hits the road without Glenn. Its my fave ep, i wanna hear all those deets.
🎻...that's just for you, Rob. Seriously, I appreciate the work you guys STILL put in to present a great show.
@33:34 This is exactly what happened to Meg with Dan Harmon during Community. So sad that that happened to her and so proud that she is happy now. Dan is a damaged individual but that's no excuse even though he created one of my favourite shows of all time (a bit below Sunny mostly coz of S4). Love that Meg is involved in my list of god-tier comedies incl Mythic Quest & Modern Family.
I just plain prefer IASIP as a show, but learning the behind-the-scenes stuff cements it even more. Community was like a Bizarro version of IASIP where their “veteran actor” Chevy Chase was known for being a jerk to everyone while Danny DeVito came in and helped everyone take their careers to the next level.
@@hithere4719 You have to take note, though, as much as a comedy legend Chevy Chase is, he was ALWAYS like this. He is the principal face of the term "backstage diva".
The shit that he did on Community with the feuds to the point of inadvertently causing Harmon to get dropped from his own show during season 4? That is the TAMEST shit in compared to when he starred and later hosted SNL over the span of 20 years.
@@bombabombom3603 that adds to what I am saying when you compare him to Danny DeVito, who is known as a freaking angel. It’s like Nightman and Dayman.
