A lot of it comes from the shipping/availability from the oceans. As more close down, limits are put on how much we can harvest, and shipping costs going up. It's a lot easier to ship something like iPhone than corals and fish. 1 because they're perishable and 2 they take up way more space in a box. Apple can pay the high costs because they're making much more profit in each box. Refers cant
I just work there, I don’t make the prices. However I will say that corals everywhere have pretty much gone up due to inflation and the fact that we can’t take form the ocean as much
bro didn't have to be weird about it, but working at a fish store most definitely makes it harder to just go and buy coral from anyone bcz of the discounts. not to mention the pieces you may be able to get when fragging.
In all seriousness, getting to work on an actual coral restoration project would be a dream come true. I really want to work in marine conservation, but I’m struggling to get accepted into any internships. I hope one day I can actually go out and help work on something to improve coral recruitment and growth.
What day/time did you go??? It was so packed when I got in on Saturday you could barely get a look at some of the booths until it calmed down in the afternoon... :/
@@garysteinert8040 Was there still a nice selection of quality frags at that point? Considering this approach for next year, but my fear is that I would miss out on some cool pieces. Honestly got a lil anxious Saturday from the crowd and all the frantic energy. It kinda took away from the experience :/

Top shelf is one of the coral shops responsible for the over inflated price for corals
Yep, WWC also.
@@duberollinup3452 yes wwc is another one that started the trend of “high end” corals

Exactly!!! Thank you! Idk why he was so weird about it. I just said ok and walked off I’m not gonna argue
@Colson’s Critters as someone who works at a fish store as well. Deals at your job beats anything just about online unless it's free.
@@aaronfitz2892 haha so true. Unless it’s something my store is out of or doesn’t carry I don’t really buy it.
IS it though….😂
Wow this is so cool!!! 🪸
Thank you!
Damn really wish I could’ve join but had work 🙃, maybe next year !!!
Definitely next year!!!!
This was so fun 🪷🌸💗🌸🪷
Very cool 👌🏻 😎
So cool!
Thank you!
Such great content always bro!
Thank you!
I had no idea there was an entire coral convention. Maybe growing corals could be my alternate career plan if I don't get any internships, lol

Glad that’s over for another year. 😂😂😂

I heard about that. I went on Sunday and got in early at 10 and was there until about 3
I went Saturday around 2pm. Wasn’t that packed. Have to say show this year wasn’t as good as last years.
@@terenceclark4108 Honestly I would agree. This year was not as good but still tons of fun
Went last year Saturday, this year Sunday afternoon. Will always do Sunday afternoons.

Just come across your channel! Great video, could I ask what camera you are using to film? The one in your hands?
Thank you! I’m using a Sony zv e10
Jesus is one of the few people that knows how to frag corals traditionally considered hard to frag. Should have good luck with that Scoly!
If I had a dollar for every time he said “I work at top shelf” I would be able to buy an overpriced frag from where he works at
That was so funny I forgot to laugh…😐
what kind of buffer fish is that that does not eat coral? lol

Bud keeps mentioning that he works @ a ridiculously overpriced fish store lol
