Vidit: I'm not quite sure yet how to play against Hikaru tomorro-
Agad: HELLO EVERYONE
Watched it live. Lots of blood was spilled today. Today they took out the knives. Except Fabi. He went in with a hydraulic press.
Hhh😂😂 hydraulic press is the perfect description of fabi style.
Fabi is a surgeon
I caught the games late... They play very late in South Africa, only watched Nepo's game and Pragg's game. Antonio must upload all the games 🤦🏾♂️
fabi's win was totally on abasov's blunder
"A red sun rises..."
14:42 "He probably wanted to get out of playing hall as soon as possible and MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT HIS SHORT GAME" subtle burn by Agad 😂
Hikaru made it just a minute longer than agads this makes this even funnier
LOOOOL
Hikaru lost because Vidit is the better chess player its quite clear even before this match @@onetwo-xu2jw
@@onetwo-xu2jwget off the copium lil bro
Hikaru can't serve two masters: candidates and streaming. This loss is a painful lesson. Which will he choose?
Didn't expect a 2790 playing in the Candidates to end the game without even moving the queenside knight and rook. Ironically the final position looks like a game against Morphy, who Hikaru often states wasn't that strong by today's standards. So I think it would be really fitting to award Vidit the Morphy Head for this! Maybe you could put out another short clip just awarding him the Morphy Head?
Brilliant! Modern players love to downplay players of the past. Its easy when today's players sit on the shoulders of the old masters and then regurgitate whatever their engine analysis comes up with.
If Morphy got in a time machine at the peak of his game and traveled to today, he'd get demolished by modern GMs and that has nothing to do with talent. It's because of the evolution of opening theory. Morphy would get into trouble early on and as you saw with this game, it's hard to play yourself out of a lost position at this level. Morphy's chess strength probably wouldn't be above 2500 due large in part to his opening theory knowledge. That's not to say his talent level is one of the best ever, which most would agree that it is. Now put him up against anyone at Fischer Random (chess 960), that's a different story.
That's a wonderful analogy
💯 Agree 💯
@@MrSupernova111not all players do that but Hikaru does that a lot. I have heard he has an extremely average iq of around 100 which explains why he fails to distinguish the playing field of old masters and modern players.
"He probably wanted to get out of the playing hall as soon as possible and make a video about his short game" 😂 what a burn! Instantly made me laugh
Turns out those beginner's books telling you to develop more than 0 pieces on the queen-side weren't joking around lol.
Vidit always shines the brightest in such tournaments. You're expecting Pragg to win, Gukesh to win. But, Vidit always turns up surprising everyone! I really like his brand of chess..😊
This is Vidit's first candidates tournament and prior to Grand Swiss, he never stood out much in big tournaments.
contrary to what you say, it is just opposite, Vidhit always let India down in all big tournaments, this madness started years ago from olympiad... infact he is very inconsistent player with no big titles in his pocket ....
I plan to see these 3 guys this Summer!! Excited.
@@arghodas6254I have been following him for a couple of years and Vidit always does good initially in a tournament. He has reached Worldcup semi finals consecutively for 3 years and always loses due to his nerves. He took a break this time after World cup and worked on his nerves with his mentor on meditation and after he returned, he won Grand swiss. Then he can 2nd in some memorial tournament where hikaru was also playing. Then he was on highest point in World Rapid championship for 2 days and in second last round he lost in a +10 position. If he keeps his nerves on control, he can play as good as any player. Also if you vidit, his personality has changed alot after his break. He is much more confident.
This a tournament for experienced and stable players. Anyway a lot of this result came from prep.
*Hikaru, after Round 1:* I drew Fabi with Black! The worst is over!
*Hikaru, after Round 2:* My nightmare begins.
That quote by Tarrasch on top of the board is just 🤌✨
I'm here in California and watching the matches live with Judit, Hess and Howell's wonderful commentary. However, it didn't feel complete. I wanted to hear "Hello Everyone!" from our wonderful friend across the pond in Croatia and boy did he deliver! Thanks a ton Agad!
Leko is a far better commentator. Shame he is not doing this tourney.
Yasser Seirawan is the best in terms of chess commentary with all the stories in between and his love for pawns.
Vidit 2.0 is just amazing and his games just make you feel awestruck!
Vidit said in the Post game interview that after Nc4 he started playing on his own.. Also props to the Indian viewers.. So many people watching the games at 4am is just incredible.. also Vidit is currently trending on twitter 😄
A win playing the Berlin with black....that's amazing.
From sacrificing his king to hikaru, vidit has come a long way. 😂
Agadmator: "Players of questionable strength"
Me: "Honey! Agadmater is talking about me in his latest video!"
Interesting, what do you do to the full time streamer who literally doesn’t care??? Opening Prep.
Remember kids, this is why we develop our pieces before farting around and capturing opponent's pieces.
Hikaru should revisit his own opening tutorials.
Damn! The game just finished and you've already uploaded the video! Amazing
Vidit obliterated Naka in this game
not really... played a boring forced draw and hoped naka didn't bite. That's not the magnus mentality....
That's how you play with black. Try to stabalize and equalise and then when you smell the blood, you go for it @@stefanomaggio5109
@@stefanomaggio5109 i don't think playing berling means forced draw, and looking at the prep he wasn't going for draw anyways, whether naka deflected from draw line or him doesn't matter, at top level chess Berlin is pretty common. Also for info kramnik also played this against Kasparov in world championship matches, your opinion comes from a lockdown kid mentality
@@stefanomaggio5109 I don't think you know what you're talking about.
Copium is one hell of a drug @@stefanomaggio5109
looks like 4 decisive games, will be busy tonight but cant wait for the videos!
Agad: you’re a time traveler right? How did you upload so quickly 🤯
Game is almost 3 to 4 hours long....he starts making videos when the game starts....when it ends ..it's just few minutes required for finishing touch....and boom u can upload it 15 mins after the game finishes
absolutely crushing
I thought players like So and Abdusatturov deserve candidates' spots over Nijat and Vidit in terms of quality. But who am I to judge a genius like Vidit! Just wow❤
The thing you should remember is that they all got there because of their merits.we should understand that
Didn’t understand why Hikaru blitzed many moves in the middle game today…was so out of character
Kramnik was right 😭
It seems like that is his strategy. He talked about getting fabi under time control problems bc it’s a big advantage for him. It backfired today.
Out of character? In his last video he literally said he’s in the candidates for “the content” above all, not to win
@@rws531 Lots of streamers (across the Internet, not just chess) say that whenever they do something questionable or mistaken, and it deflates any negative spitballing commenters (and has become a bit of a meme). I wouldn't take it so literally.
@@rws531 .Nobody plays in the Candidates just for content. That's just absurd. The world championship title is at stake and the effort it takes to qualify for these events is monumental.

Please show Tan Zhongyi Vs Vaishali 🙌
Yes!! She finished her attack with those sacrifices so nicely
Low quality compared to actual candidates unfortunately

Was just waiting for you Sir… Respectfully you’re the best ❤
The check sound effect at 1:40 has to be intentional
All games were decisive today. Incredible!
This gives me same vibes as Anand vs Levon game.... So many possibilities...so many hidden lines...❤
What's the difference between Hikaru and a teabag? ...The teabag stays in the cup longer...
4 decisive games today. Less goo🔥
Great expression that Vidit prepared poison. He offered Nakamura so interested but poisoned an opportunity OUT OF THE BERLIN that Nakamura took it.
😂😂 how quick agad with the uploads the game just ended few seconds and boom you uploaded
yeasterday was so peaceful today we got bloodshed
Blood? Nah dude they pulled out the tanks today the games were explosive asf minus nijat who chose friendly fire
WOW that was stunning that was like watching a pic Pocket using slit of hand
Hikaru doesn't ca... Nope. He is gonna care after getting destroyed like this. 😅
Finaly something spectaculer happend in candidats🎉
Right after the game ends...I'm already super anxious waiting for Agad's upload 😂
Watched this very game live sir, thanks for the analysis for better understanding.
Absolutely brilliant
Nice algorithm reference regarding max Deutschs delusional play
#suggestion can you put the timer for players again?
what about be2 instead of qc2 on move 13? is exchanging bishops an option here? (400 rated player here please be kind lol)
All games were decisive😊
3:18 Thanks for the shoutout Agad 😊
I'm getting too old for such complications. What a game!
There goes the streak
I always come to your channel for any game I want to rewatch. You’re amazing 🤘🏽
I don’t understand ,how Hikaru should take the pawn on e5 even tho bishop takes h3 is coming ?
Amazing game by Vidit. He turned the drawish Berlin into a crushing hammer.
I really appreciate your content. I just wish it would make me a better Chess player.
Ouch.... one of the worst games from Naka in a long time
Really awesome,what a game that it was,mindboggling.
Very very interesting
Vidit crushed Hikaru today
Amazing, I can't believe Hikaru lost. Vidit's prep is really sharp!
2:17 That photo is quite weird. Its incredible that Vidit was able to beat Hikaru without even looking at the board. What a game.
La préparation de Gujrathi était brillante. Bravo.
Unexpected, but that's what chess is about
It seems to me chess has become about learning lines with the machine and the winner is the guy who remembers the most moves.
If that is the case then we can all best grandmasters
That was quick
The two are meeting again today so that will be my live game to watch today, thanks.
its 2024, engine era but Vidit comes up with a beautiful follow up to Ruy Lopez/ Berlin defense. Remarkable!
This game is a clear example of everything Fischer hates about to chess, memory winning games.
Modern chess is all about memory winning games..No one is creative as Ivanchuk, Dubov
Good to see my boy Vidit playing like this after getting pounded in the last tournament, specially that Parham game you showed us
Awesome!
Historic candidates coming up
I think there was a shorter loss at Zurich 1953. Keres won a pawn early on.
Such speed
I hope Hikaru’s queenside pieces enjoyed watching the game
Very nice game! Let's see if Hikaru can rebound.
THANKS AGAD
Thank you
Hikaru chocking when it matters the most as usual.
As a player of questionable strength, this game was quite enjoyable
Black has some dangerous lines against the d3 Ruy Lopez where black sacrifices a pawn for an attack.
1:40 "I'm not sure, I will have to check" _check sound plays_
Well, what was hikaru thinking being a rook down and a knight down? (a1 rook and b1 knight didn't participate at all)
Tombstones in a graveyard! So shocking to see a game where the queen-side pieces for white stand unused for the whole time with just the hapless bishop coming out into the fray at the end to meet its doom. Paul Morphy's bones are rattling in disapproval!
Very nice game ❤
"Players of questionable strength--" Hey, I resemble that remark!
Agad to the rescue... as usual
This feels like Hikaru just walked into some crazy preparation. Probably not much he could have done.
thanks much
That was an annihilation.
Amazing game by VD
That was fast 😅
It's actually possibly to take a GM into a deep dark forest in the berlin
Ding’s rise to World Champion is surely proof that it’s better to be lucky than to be good in this life! A stunning demolition of Naka by an on fire Vidit!
Luck favours the prepared…
I thought Hikaru knew what to do after bxh7+ and hoping for Qe4 next. This variation will be exciting if Vidit response f5 then Hikaru Bxf5 sac the Bishop. Vidit force to Bxf5 then Hikaru Qh4+ follow up Bg6 pinned Vidit Knight and Queen and force his rook to help defense on his Knight. But Hikaru will have now Nd5 forking Vidit Rook and Bf5.
Why don't you show the drawing line ?
Vidit surely did a lot of opening preparation (Bxh3) but he won because of his precision and being ruthless. Such a strong player.
Nice reporting.
There is a noise disturbance of double click in your video, please look into.
Vidit had a very bad tournament previously. He bounced back. I hope he will do well in upcoming matches.
Hikaru is struggling with the opening. VD is playing solid. ❤
You talk so fast and without hardly any time between sentences. It makes it quite challenging to finish the whole video. Still I enjoy and watch the recaps.
please include timestamp, thanks
7:40 He said in the interview that he was on his own after Nc4
