    I think they have a rule that Decidueye is never allowed to be unique in any game he appears in. He has to share the Ghost/Grass niche with Dhelmise in his opening games, and then here in Legends Arceus he has to share the Grass/Fighting role with Hisuian Liligant. And arguably he gets beaten in both roles.

      @@ImportedCheese It's better for getting through the main game cause it's faster, but in competitive Dhelmise being able to keep any opponent from switching with Anchor Shot, having a strong Gyro Ball, and getting the Steel Worker bonus on those moves, as well as being very good in Trick Room makes Dhelmise much stronger.

    Okay. I need to make one massive correction to make.
    Blissey is good. Really good. Stupid good. Survived multiple distortion without needing a potion good. Literally soloed both forms of Giratina without items good. Thanks to the lack of EVs and odd stat scaling, Blisseys Special Attack isn’t bad either.
    Also, it’s low speed is actually not awful. The time it takes for status effects to wear off is based on your own turns, not your opponents, so it’s Calm Mind lasts forever relative to your opponent.
    With a moveset of Tri Attack, Softboiled, Calm Mind, and Shadow Ball, Blissey was by far my best team member.

    Pokemon go into "Speed Tiers" based on their Speed stat. The Speed Tier determines the Pokemon's Action Speed "countdown." The game then ticks down all Pokemons' countdowns until one hits 0. That Pokemon gets a turn, then its countdown resets. If two Pokemon would get a turn simultaneously (which is highly likely if you're appropriately leveled), the faster Pokemon goes first.
    Using an Agile move will either artificially reduce your next move's countdown, or add a "penalty" to the opponent's countdown. Using a Strong move will do the opposite.
    Moves that were priority moves or speed-boosting moves in the main games now cut your next move's countdown. Moves that were flinch moves or cut the opponent's Speed stat now give your opponent a penalty.
    Also, stat-boosting moves cut your next move's cooldown as well.
    If you're using fast "sweeper" Pokemon and always going first anyway, then Agile Style will feel like it never does anything, while Strong always makes you lose a turn. But if you go second, or stack Agile Style with a priority/flinch/speed-altering move on an already-fast Pokemon, you're fairly likely to get to move twice.

    • @ImportedCheese
      @ImportedCheese  2 роки тому +26

      That's....so complicated

    • @Shrimpyfriedrice
      @Shrimpyfriedrice 2 роки тому +12

      With that, Lopunny (with two priority moves), Jolteon and Zoroark are broken. Especially Jolteon can kill Arceus with just Quick Attack. If you can attack twice, use Quick Attack regularly, if you can only attack once, use Quick Attack in Agile Style, so you will be able to attack twice again. If you use Quick Attack regularly, you are likely to be able to attack twice again.
      Lopunny has both Quick Attack and Mach Punch, it's just not as fast as Jolteon. Zoroark has Shadow Sneak for it.
      In the end, that strategy works with almost all Pokémon that are fast enough and have at least one priority move. You can test it out at some of the alphas on mount corenet.

    • @frownyclowny6955
      @frownyclowny6955 2 роки тому +6

      So this is a system that prioritizes status and chance flinches over strength and speed (mostly speed)
      Interesting. Feels more strategic if you know what’s up behind-the-scenes

    • @cyberdragonzekrom6790
      @cyberdragonzekrom6790 2 роки тому +7

      @@frownyclowny6955 Well, flinch doesn't exist anymore - it's been replaced with the "countdown penalty." And it is fairly strategic in terms of using Agile/Strong style (or boosting/priority moves, or Hyper Beam/Giga Impact) in response to the turn order and the opponent's action. Also, there's more strategy in terms of your choice of Pokemon to send out when yours is KO'ed, because you can easily give your next Pokemon a double turn.
      However, I think more strategy has been lost in that the game is now a sequential-move game instead of a simultaneous-move game. (Meaning, when you pick your action, you know it's your turn - both players do not pick their action simultaneously, as in the main series games.) The only strategy that this really adds is the usefulness of "parting shots" - not the move, but the idea of "going out with a bang." Suppose you have a Pokemon out against the opponent, and yours is about to get KO'ed, and you get to choose a move (or switching). Since you know it's your turn, you know you're going to get your move off, so you can freely use moves that pay off now for a drawback later with effectively zero drawback. (Strong Style, Hyper Beam / Giga Impact, and other moves that give you a countdown penalty)

    What really pisses me off about Decidueye’s treatment by GF since Sun and Moon was just; Why is it so slow!?!! It’s an agile archer owl Pokémon - all things screaming high speed stat, but no. And then when there was a glimmer of hope with its Hisuian form, THEY MADE HIM SLOWER!
    What do they have against my boy!? 😭😭

    • @leeeroyjenkins555
      @leeeroyjenkins555 2 роки тому +12

      And for a random reason, I will tell you my personal Decidueye experience.
      I didnt pick him on moon, but for ultra sun I was going to pick him as rowlett, box him, and transfer a squirtle and use him as a starter instead.
      A friend stopped me, she said she would pick that Rowlett and made him strong, and take me down with it someday. Kinda like with Paul and Infernape.
      Time went by, and our teams clashed. Blastoise and Decidueye faced each other quiet early on...
      And Decidueye would just die to dark pulse. Time and time again. Tbf, Mega Launcher was quiet a strong advabtage, however the fact that Mega Blastoise would just outspeed Decidueye everytime, was just... welp, no comment. That Decidueye never did anything remarkable...
      That would not be the end of this Blastoise vs Decidueye feud however.
      Years later we both got into Pokken on switch. Now in a fighting game, and a whole different gameplay, maybe Decidueye would get to win?
      Yes, and no. She may have won maybe a few rounds with its easy and spammable combo atacks. But once I learned how to counter it (water gun + dragon pulse spam), she could not win even a round.
      But now you may ask, what about actual good decidueye players? Welp, Im no great or anything, but I did beat a pretty cocky decidueye guy on a tier up match. Pretty epic finale. We both were at like 10 hp and I won with the burst atack.
      And now in Legends, my team included both Typloshion and Samurott (the perfect stats one from Home), and instead of Decidueye, Liligant. I didnt even knew Liligant was that great, she just looked more appealing to me.
      And so my experience with Decidueye has been welp, I just see it as a joke...

    Something that I noticed is that agile style doesn't raise your action speed. It lowers your opponent's. This makes it absolutely worthless in multi-battles because you are actively making your offensive opportunity significantly worse to make one opponent move later one time. Meanwhile the other 4 pokemon are just gonna 4 make you faint before your next turn anyway, so why bother. However, on faster pokemon with priority it can be downright stupid in single battles. In the final battle my underleveled hisuian zoroark got like 5 turns in a row between shadow sneak, agile style, and kos.

    @nlb137 2 роки тому +9

    I think the two Basculegion forms are closer than you give them credit for, due to movepool. It has *no* physical Ghost moves, so you almost have to be some kind of mixed attacker to use both STABs, and Shadow Ball has higher base power and no recoil in comparison to Wave Crash, and 100 accuracy in comparison to Aqua Tail (it's "average power" is higher; 85 power and 90 accuracy mean you average 76.5). It's Ice and Psychic coverage options are both better off of special as well; Ice Beam is stronger than Ice Fang and Psychic, once again, has 100 accuracy to Zen Headbutt's 90. (Crunch is worthless because Dark and Ghost have basically the same coverage, and STAB makes Shadow Ball still stronger on male Basculegion). Aqua Jet is physical of course, which does favor male.
    Taking move power times attacking stat for a mix of moves, assuming Wave Crash + Shadow Ball + coverage:
    Female is like 95% as strong with Shadow Ball as male is with Wave Crash (and again, no recoil), they're respective strongest moves, due to the higher base power.
    Female is stronger with Ice Beam than male is with Ice Fang (male is weaker with Ice Beam than with Ice Fang)
    The 'total' of move power x attack/special attack x STAB for both STAB moves plus ice coverage is actually higher for female, and it's even more favorable if you also take your Psychic coverage move.
    tl;dr male Basculegion is 5% stronger when using your strongest STAB move (male Wave Crash is 5% stronger than female Shadow Ball), while female Basculegion is ~10% stronger with it's Ice coverage move and ~8% stronger with it's weaker STAB move (female Wave Crash is 8% stronger than male Shadow Ball).
    So yeah, I think they're equally 'good', female just trades a small amount of power when spamming one STAB for much better "average" power when using your other STAB *and* Ice coverage. I think the later situations will come up enough that the better 'average' power is desirable, or at minimum makes the two a tossup. I think female can oneshot *more* stuff due to better 'average' coverage (between dual STABs and Ice Beam) than male can.

    If only I was there to give you my opinions in _real time,_ but alas, I was not, so I'm just gonna have to give them after the fact.
    I think you forgot that Alakazam gets hypnosis because it should be way higher. It has a super fast hypnosis, great offensive power with a pretty wide movepool, and calm mind is an option too if you care about wasting a turn to boost stats. Easily one of the best Pokemon in the game, especially because you can catch such a high level alpha super early on. If you've been taking your time getting research points, you can grab this thing pretty early and have it absolutely destroy the rest of the game for you while having great capture utility with hypnosis. I'd honestly consider placing it as _the_ most useful Pokemon in the game with how great it is in pretty much every situation, the fact that you can get the alpha so early, and that even if you are slacking with research points, it still has great availability as Kadabra.

    Ok this wasn't a horrid tier list but there were some... MASSIVE issues with certain mons. first off, jolteon has the same speed as crobat. while it lacks t wave, it gets quick attack and actually is so fast you can endlessly loop things w/ quick attack. you can also use calm mind with your absurd speed and still attack quite often, which can help him serve the coup de grace w/ a boosted thunderbolt after. Now jolteon DOES have dogshit physical attack but attacking stats aren't AS important in this game as most of your actual damage comes from level vs the actual stat. now espeon can more or less do the same deal as it hits the same speed tier to pull it off long as you got a +speed nature on it. even leafeon could i believe do the same thing. While umbreon isn't as good as it could be, it isn't horrid and w/ calm mind can be very bulky to the point it will take the hits well. due to the aforementioned quirk of attack being less valuable in this game, calm mind blissey also has the same thing but absurd hp. now you'll ofc take a lot from physical moves still, but I think blissey and umbreon are being rather undersold. flareon isn't so hot and neither is glaceon but i feel vaporeon could pull things off similarly to umbreon and due to the whole "offensive stats aren't as important to actual damage" deal, aqua tail and dark pulse on them isn't the worst thing in the world. in fact dark pulse reduces a foe's speed so umbreon isn't AS slow as it'd appear since you can debuff the foe's speed w/ dark pulse effectively. porygon z is amazing but i can understand the placement less for its power (thing has amazing moves, gets t wave, gets recover, has awesome stats overall) but more for how annoying it is to actually GET one in game but it's an excellent pokemon. Now I'm sure you're wondering... "why would recover help?" well... if you hit a mon in the back but instead of attacking recover you can heal on the field and porygon has the attack to kill said random mon next turn before it goes so it gets free heals. you can do a similar tactic w/ rest on some bulky pokemon so they won't eat your supplies as much at all between battles too! Theres a lot of tactics you can use to make pokemon good though. but give some of those mons a chance they're actually pretty good if used right!

    usum, bdsp: kricketune gets sing by level up
    legends: gf removes sing from kricketune

    edit 1: I am actually a Finneon and Lumineon fan, like, I am not kidding. If you guys don't know, there is something called PokeMMO, which is basically advanced difficulty of every pokemon games up to gen 5. My Jetwing the Lumineon is my MVP throughout my Platinum run in MMO. It even nearly one shot Cynthia's Garchomp and KO it with non-stab Ice Beam, which says things because Garchomp is decently bulky. Also with just 69 SpA and one shot bulky boss mon is underrated for Lumie.
    But yeah, I do wish that Lumineon and especially Finneon is stronger in one of its attacking stats, that is generally better, Lumie's (referring to Lumineon) stats are spreads out too thin. Pretty wish it had the buffs from Renegade Platinum (Higher speed, SpA and Hurricane TM). One shot things can be easier with a good attacking stat for significantly weaker neutral moves.
    edit 2: yeah bruh, you just said it yourself, 80 speed is not even not that bad on Mamoswine. Yeah, well Lumineon has 91 speed bro.
    (Note: sorry, I got very defensive in the original comment with Lumineon, bcuz it is my favorite evolution line on par with Torterra, and that says things bcuz Torterra is a starter.)

    I actually think the whole stuff you say about turn order being unfair... I mean, I disagree? Why would it tell you _before the opponent's move_ how their move will influence the turn order? That'd just be cheating. It's your job to _account_ for the opponent possibly having a move that might throw you back - the combat system in Legends: Arceus actually wants you to _think_ for once in this darn franchise. I am _not_ gonna complain about that. xD

    I disagree about the importance you give to speed, mostly because you aren’t guaranteed to never get hit in this games speed mechanics, so speed on a frail is much worse than it usually is because it is considerably harder to sweep. I found alakazam to be really shit because it couldn’t switch in, and died immediately. It’s strong hits didn’t matter because it was going to get hit.
    Also surprised you didn’t mention that normal types can get giga impact and hyper beam with no draw back and that gives normal types the highest BP move in the game. Works pretty well during the early/mid game
