there is a brake service mode in the settings on the radio that will retract the rear caliper pistons for you with the motors that operate the electronic emergency brake.
That's what I came here to find out. I'm always a little cautious about pushing fluid back to the master cylinder. Some makes and models it's a no no. Found it. Thanks!
Roy - thank you. Your comment here, coupled with this gentleman’s video, both saved the day, more than you could possibly believe. Brakes were $200 but here in HI they wanted $1,200 to do this process. So I did it.
I wanted to add that a lot of new rotors need to be sprayed and cleaned before installation with brake cleaner to remove the film or oil that is on it after production. If I recall correctly companies due this to aid in storage life.
Hope you have changed both brake discs of the same axle at same time, it's cheap and safe. Check procedures if brake caliper fixing screws should be replaced when brake discs are changed, because red thread-locker is used.
Why don't you do a video of changing the brake caliper? I am working on a jeep renegade front brakes and the caliper piston is all the way out. How would you change THAT?
When the brake pad consumed unevenly both side in same wheel the pins need to be greased and let some old brake fluid in calliper to be out by drain some just like you try let air out this will make calliper work better both sides Thanks

Good info to have! Thank you!
I just found this option after watching the video lol was about to comment the same thing lol

How do I go about this?

Dude when I saw you kick off the tire with your bare feet I started dying 😂😂 well done. I
My daughter and son, both teens, did my front brake pads today in around an hour thanks to this video! Very nicely done.
I assume you have died in a brake related automobile accident.

We all have that "janky screwdriver"...I have them in several sizes....Thanks for the video!
If it's stuck, put your feet here...and break your legs 🤣
Easiest method is to crank it up and turn the wheel slightly until it pops off.
Lol the barefoot mechanic should be your name 🤣🤣
Thanks for the helpful video!!!

Yup. Both front rotors and pads and then rear pads only.
Excellent tutorial! Of course I still wouldn't be able to do it myself 🤣🤣
Thank you sir!
"Look at that nice new rotor. It'll look just like the old one in a couple of months."
Hey man did u replace the driver front brake rotor? U install it and adds 15 lbs of torque to the brakes.
great video, thanks!... where did you put the jack stand by the way.. under the control arm?
I believe so!
0:48 smacks and marks the alloy wheel. Brilliant.
I watched this in HD and can't see what you're talking about.
On this jeep on the rear pads was there little nubs on the brake pads that the caliper piston notches has to line up with? What year is this jeep??
I don't recall any nubs the brake pads had to line up with.
I believe this is a 2015 Renegade.
use a c clamp to compress the piston while caliper still bolted to spindle....
Why don't you do a video of changing the brake caliper? I am working on a jeep renegade front brakes and the caliper piston is all the way out. How would you change THAT?
You can use channel locks or they make specific tools to compress the brake piston assuming it's not seized.
Should you bleed the break lines after changing on the Jeep Renegade? Do you start from a certain tire position... Front left to right to back? Thanks
Not a bad idea. Usually it's done furthest from the ABS pump and working your way towards it.
@@bruceyyyyy ok thanks. Ill check on that

Any problems reusing the thread locked bolts?
I haven't had any issues but it's not recommended as I believe they are torque to yield.
I always change my brakes barefoot.. when I work on anything I have to take off my shoes
It's an ancient tradition passed on from my ancestors.
@@bruceyyyyy lmao. Just had to say something.. your a good sport !
@@bruceyyyyy Haha love it.
what was tool needed to remove the e brake on the rear brakes?
I used needle nose here but much recommend a caliper wind back tool.

@@libralongstroke For me, this option is not available, only turning on or off the brake while parking. What should I do in this case?
How do you put the automatic park break back on?
It just retracts into the caliper. Then the forest time you set it it takes an extra moment to calibrate itself.
Tough to put lug bolts on any tips anyone?
Use both hands :)
Hey💥 Ya might wanna put on some Flipflops" for protection !! "Gheeesh 🙄"
Them is my Australian work boot!
You had uneven wear on your pads.. you might have a caliper issue 🤔
Slider pins would be my thoughts.
How cheap can you be the only replace one rotor.
If you read the comments, you would see that he did both.
Dealership charged me $700 to replace the two front rotors T-T
No comments about the bare feet?!?! Lmao
It's a West Virginia thing. : D
F***ing gross lol.
Good job tho

In this video you can see how to do the brake service mode
It’s just the back brakes that need the e-brake retraction.
What a nice Fiat!
I'm surprised I didn't get more flak for calling Jeep an Italian company last video.
@@bruceyyyyy actually I quite like these little Jeeps.

I like them a lot, they remind me of the old geo tracker because of their size and offroad capabilities.
