I'm really digging these Rhino vids...I own an '04 Grizzly & have been looking for a Rhino but they're either clapped out or people want an insane amount for them! Awesome to have a 2nd means of starting your side by side. In my 5 years of ownership I've never pull started my Grizzly lol.
I had never seen a recoil starter on a SSV/buggy/UTV but I think it's a good idea ! I know there's a pull starter on the Honda odyssey fl250 and some little buggies, and on much ATVs there is also a recoil starter. There's nothing more reliable than the recoil starter ! So, I think that ALL the ATV, UTV, motorcycle and even your everyday-car should have an electric starter AND a recoil starter.
Absolutely! Makes me want to add a mechanical means of starting to both of my trucks as well. Although they are manual trans so I can just bump start them in most instances
Yeah I'm sure it gets pretty hot in there especially during the summer. I figure scented still has the fan belt blowing air back there it should be okay. I will keep an eye on it though. Thanks. Good call on the fire extinguisher. I don't have one in there yet
Thanks for the idea! I did this mod to my Rhino. I can barely pull mine. I am assuming very high compression. This is a good thing for the engine, but not for pull starting.
No problem! Yeah really just a emergency type thing to have. Mine is really hard to pull as well! However if I give it one good solid pull it reliably fires up even when it's cold. Almost better than the starter motor. I guess because the decompression isn't activated.
Just purchased both parts and am hoping it works. I am curious what does the pulley grab onto? I didn't see any teeth or cutouts that the pulley would fit into on the recoil.
I used to take my 660 in deep water not a problem. When the screen you removed got brush in it it ran like crap. I would clean it out then it ran great.
Mine keeps killing the Voltage Regular !?!?. Charges fine for about 30 minutes then it stops charging ??. Any idea what would cause this ?? I've bought 3 different Regulators and all 3 have did the same thing !. The Pull start would save my butt if alone. Any idea what my problem is ??.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow so for the pull start pulley, does it matter what year grizzly you get it off of? The one I’m looking at is for a 2000 yanaha grizzly. Would that work on my rhino 660?

Glad you find the videos helpful or entertaining. Yeah it's tough finding a clean Rhino it seems. Grizzlies are pretty sweet too!

I totally agree! Everything should have a manual override starter system
That upgrade could prove to be a lifesaver!👍

Put a pull start on your truck and rip your arm off😂
@@MyDIYAdventures LOL. Yeah I was thinking more of like one of those spring loaded ones that you crank up
Im thinking if anything the exhaust is crowded in there pretty good. Watch for melting stuff and always keep an extinguisher on board... 🔥

This is a video that should be played in every educational public school shop

That's pretty awesome could be a life saver. I was also digging rancid in the background haha
Yeah for sure! All about redundancy. And awesome, you're the first one to mention it! Surprised I didn't get hit for copyright
I have an 09 rhino 450. Will a 660 or 700 fit the frame? Or best guess on where to find out. Thanks.
I dig your vids Chris, background music rocks as well
Dude I've seen it done a old Yamaha bike that is awesome 👌👏
Right on!
Great video. I was wondering about the recoil and as a bonus got to know about the disconected battery.
Thanks!
Subed.
Thanks man
I used to take my 660 in deep water not a problem.
When the screen you removed got brush in it it ran like crap.
I would clean it out then it ran great.
Got you. I still feel like it's better off without that thing on there.
Would that work on a 450 rhino as well looks like same set up
You could hook up small electric fan back to hose to blow heat out
I just picked up this exact same rhino. Having problems with it killing batteries it's killed about four batteries in 3 months.
Mine had a parasitic draw coming from the - that I installed. I ended up just putting a battery cut switch on it
I just keep a jumper pack in the glove. It costs about the same as the all the pull start parts and doesn't require removing or replacing any parts.
Definitely a good call to keep a jump pack. But what if the starter motor fails?
What if the jump starter died too
Great video man! You’re a smart dude!
what recoil fits? 2004 660 rhino here can't find a listing on one...
what happend with the quick key turn on thing but would just keep turning the starter when you hold the key on?
Dude now you got hot brakes !
Doesn't seem to cause a problem.
✅
Another mod you need is an electric fuel pump, the vacuum pumps go bad on them. Just something to think about.

Call up rm stator. They know their crap.
Anyway you can email me the links where I can buy all parts needed for this mod?
I dropped a link to the pull start on Amazon down below in the description and you just need to find a used pull start pulley on eBay from a grizzly
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow so for the pull start pulley, does it matter what year grizzly you get it off of? The one I’m looking at is for a 2000 yanaha grizzly. Would that work on my rhino 660?
Jumper cables .
That doesn't help out if your starter motor or starter clutch fails.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow What if the sky falls ? LOL
Haven't seen that one happen yet. But I've seen plenty of failed starters and starter clutches.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow I know what your saying , it is good to have another way to get the engine started if you are out alone .
Sell me your fan set up ,mine caught fire
Just get rid of it. Put a pull start on
