Favorite baseball clip of all time probably. The play, the commentary, Jackson’s reaction, perfection.
“Cespedes play, when it grows up it wants to be this play” LOL
His throws were pretty good two, if you are referring to he was with the A's and against the Angels. The only thing that marred those IMO is the fact he didn't field it correctly. But still great throws
Funny line, but I think the Cespedes throw was better if for no other reason than it saved a run. Plus the internal buildup due to the initial misplay.
reminder that this is only his 5th career game in the majors, and he already has 3 outfield assists
Yeah he was amazing last year. And this year he’s having a pretty slow start
No hyperbole here: this is one of the greatest throws I have ever seen. When I first viewed the replay, I couldn't believe how much air Laureano got under the throw. But, that's obviously what one has to do from 321 feet away.
It was an epic throw. This guys gonna have a few gold gloves down the road guaranteed
Gonna be tough to beat Buxton and keiemaier for the gold gloves
As of this post, there are 23 people who either don't understand what they just saw or just don't appreciate just how simply amazing it was that human being threw a baseball 107 yards.
I'm guessing he was eyeing up just how far the throw was so it would be accurate.
steve b The pump, was to set up the correct arm angle and release to match with his feet. He needed a couple steps to get full momentum on the throw, and pumping the ball into his glove (natural reaction like playing catch and making a long throw) sets up the release. Incredible throw...
Maybe they’re Angels fans lmao
steve b forward momentum plays a huge part when throwing for distance
The problem is, we didn't see it. Terrible camera work.
Best Throw I have ever seen. Absolute Unit
It was an amazing throw but not close to best ever.
Bill Ebob UA-cam Jose Guillen throw. That's the greatest throw ever made.
They look quite comparable to me -- both awesome.
Ichiro Suzuki is up there..
Jim Bertido before you make the final judgment on that, check out Dave Parker’s throw in the 1979 all star game.
The fact that the announcers took that long to process how amazing that throw was says a lot.
I mean…on the fly, right into Canha’s glove from the warning track.
Wow!
The fact Cahna barely had to move is incredible. That could not have been a better throw.
best throw and worst cameraman all at the same time
Best comment on here!
No, that was his job. He's not paid to make personal judgments about what to shoot, he was asked to shoot the bag after the catch. It's another cameraman's job to see the throw in-field
Glybirdy whoop dee doo
Wesley Hessr I’m sorry that that concept is too hard for you to understand
Brian Scalabrine I understand I just don't care that much
U can’t coach that. You can’t learn that. That’s pure talent. Amazing.
The best part is how the first baseman doesn't have to move an inch to field the throw. Laureano could have been pitching from that distance and it'd have been a called strike. Simply phenomenal.
This is why I love ⚾ you never know what can happen best sport !!
*everybody liked that*
Hell of a throw!
Go A's!!
I wouldn't know the throw was so good, since the footage was so terrible.
I just saw this play on MLB plays of the week. SOMEBODY caught the throw on camera. I am trying to find the footage here.
@@Ritty109 i know this is late but I was actually at the game. The throw was so much more impressive than the camera makes it seem. by far the most impressive thing I have ever seen and probably one of the best throws ever.
What’s wrong with the footage? Skip to 1:40
If I didn't know any better I'd say there's some angels in the outfield helping him out.
I love how calm Cahna was lmao
I was at this game and the one where Cespedes threw out Kendrick at home from the warning track as well. Absolutely crazy. I’m a huge Angels fan, but I’ll give props to our AL West rivals. These were two of the best throws I’ve ever seen.
Who on earth would thumbs down this play?
I think what makes this a great play is the range he shows tracking the ball down, having the patience to stop and line up his throw, and then deliver a perfect throw right in the glove. Amazing!
Angels fans
Not just the distance, the accuracy was perfect - Awesome!
I saw this game live and I couldn't believe my eyes. I've played baseball and have probably watched a few thousand games live in my time and this is probably one of the best or the best defensive plays I have seen. MLB network has shown a 50 best plays and a 100 best plays and this was #1 on both.
Awesome camera work!!!
I hope that's sarcastic
Check out awesome camera work at 2:17 to follow the throw to first from the fence. wow! Spielberg should hire this camera person.
That was insane
Anyone remember Bo Jackson throwing out Harold Reynolds at home plate?
Wow! That throw was really lofted too and still a perfect strike! ....Amazing!
Clemente's arm will always be my favorite.
Never tire of seeing this...WOW...😎
FUN FACT: Matt Olson started every single game at first base that year except this one, where Canha was at 1B and it was the most iconic play of the year
Paused at 2:10. The reaction of the Angels fan with the grey shirt and beard is priceless.
His buddies mind was blown so much he was calling an incomplete pass.
I am crying bc that was Tyler Skaggs pitching
My shoulder hurts after watching that.
Rick Ankiel-esque with that one! What an amazing play omg 🤯👏👏
Baseball TV directors have always been clueless when it comes to what to show on the screen on a throw from the outfield. The THROW is the action. The announcer should be telling the viewer where the runner is. This is one of the most incredible throws ever and the viewer had to wait through and entire commercial break and for the a 2nd replay in order to actually see it...and because the director cut back to the runner rounding 2nd and heading back. That's the announcers job. SHOW US THE THROW!!!
He pulled a Cespedes there, amazing throw
The first baseman just standing there: "Wait for it. ... Wait for it... Any day now... BOOM!"
I was watching the game live it was CRAZY.
my mouth dropped to the ground and my friend who was with me goes "what was so special about that..." until he saw the replay and immediately went "I think that was willie mays level of execution"
Laureano continues to wow me! First that throw to 3rd against the Tigers last week, now this against the Angels!
Guys trying to steal extra bases will learn to respect his arm if he continues doing long forceouts like this if they haven't already.
Dallas Braden's reaction in the background says it best! 🤣
I mean, that's the best I've seen. In terms of accurate throws from distance, that's no. 1.
Fuí jardinero central muchos años, se me eriza la piel porque sé perfectamente lo que involucra una jugada así. Alguien que no conozca béisbol no lo entendería.
Rip to the Skagginator
This dude did it again. Hose
such good camera work on the runner running back to first. So fascinating. Dude is running. Who can do that? Impressive. Rare feat. Too bad they couldn't get a shot of the thing that the video is about though
Tyler Skaggs 😭
0:14 Tip of the cap from the opposition. Proper show of respect there for such a unbelievable play!
Dallas Braden’s commentary tho 😂
incredible accuracy... Canha just stood on the first base and the ball went right into his mitt.
Just saw this on Twitter and (partially due to terrible camera angle) was very confused about what was going on. Can someone please explain why Young was running so far back to first? It was a short clip on Twitter so was confused as to why it looked like he was running the wrong way round the bases (as it didn’t look like he’d only got a few steps and then turned back) and now having seen the full clip including him literally rounding second, I’m even more confused.
To everybody upset with the camera man, you are angry at the wrong person. The guy at the replay station could have shown literally any of the other 10-12 camera angles on that throw but he absolutely botched it. I don't know their control room, but can almost guarantee you that he was publicly flamed by an angry director over an open comm line that the entire production team could hear.
This video is a 1 minute guide on how to get fired from your job at the replay station lol
Jose Guillen's "mutant" throw from the right field warning track at Coor's field nailing Neifi Perez at third base is slightly better
steve b so by that logic, if the throw was 2 feet left or right of the bag and the 1B had to tag the runner it would've been more amazing?? To even throw a baseball, or any ball over 300 feet and to even get it close let alone right on the bag is amazing in and of itself, appreciate what the man did, no need to compare
That was the first thing I thought of---Jose Guillen turning what seemed like a sure triple into an out.
Nope
@@johngosline7990 well said sir!
That Bubble Butt , he's got an extra speed , jajajajajajjajaajajajajajja
Omg that throw😲
This was MLB Network’s play of the year.
Absolute cannon
what a throw
I was at this game. Just amazing catch and throw.
I Miss Ray Foose
"Thats one of the best catches you will ever see"😮
Have you ever heard the name of ravindra jadeja
Anyone here after Laureano tested positive for steroids?
That's why we call him the Laser.
Jose Guillen
This is why baseball is the greatest.
That’s the way we throw in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴. I am not even in the majors and I used to throw like that from the outfield just playing in my neighborhood in Santo Domingo, same hometown of Ramón Laureano. Plátano Power!
You didnt throw over 100 yards with pin point accuracy. Please. DR has produced some legendary players but to even think you threw like this is delusional.
Kryptonlte, thanks for the comment, I had a good arm, but I recognize I went too far with my comment 😀
@@jprd8413 respect the honesty ! Cheers brotha.
Thank you amigo!
2:08 the fan
Great throw, wish I could have seen it.
The next inning Tyler Skaggs was pitching at 1:33
I was there, and even I couldn't believe what had happened.
Please check 2:17, best angle and comment for this: Which play is better this or Cespedes'? One commentator said I tell you right now Cespedes play, when it grows up it wants to be this play.
0:41 Paul Heyman?
Best throw in my opinion and im a phillies fan
Sad to see he took drugs :(
2:16 the only camera man not on acid.
greatest throw of all time.
@steve b it was the best ever...get over it angels fan
Welcome to Braves country Ramon
DAMN
Lol. Reminds me of that michael vick powerade commercial from years ago
I don't think we're able to make that throw in MLB the Show. from the warning track of LF-CF to first base. time to change the game
2:30 "for an outfielder to have that kind of arm strength, you just don't see it anymore" um what?!
How many current outfielders can you name who can make this throw?
@@Sacksalot mookie betts, yoenis cespedes, cody bellinger, Aaron kicks, Aaron judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Mike trout, Bryce Harper...probably most outfielders
The camera leaves immediately in the first angle
Dominican Republic :)
這真的是雷射肩
ichiro 2.0
Jose Guillen approves of this video.
L . E . G . E . N . D .
what is it with a’s and throws at this park? first cespedes and now this
I love this clip, but I’ve been bitter towards Eric Young Jr. since I was 17 and was invited to a college baseball showcase at the meadow lands.
I was easily top 3 at the show case In hitting, fielding, and arm strength for 2nd Baseman. E.Y. Jr was as raw as they come as if he just started playing a couple years prior. Bottom of the group in fielding and throwing, but he could hit alright, not good, but had a compact swing built to run out ground balls and dinkers. We got paired up first group to run the 40 yard dash which seemed as tho they switched it to a 40 instead of 90 feet just to see him. I could run decent, played RB in H.S. Football and stole 14 bases that year as a Junior. When we took off I felt good for about 20 feet and then I saw him just run away from me to the point where I gave up well before the finish in disgust and my time sucked. Every coach in that building went to talk to E.Y. Jr and everything I’d excelled at to that point was erased. 2 coaches came over to say Id be a good fit for their teams, but didn’t extend any immediate scholarship money. One went so far as to say we like what we saw and we don’t really need you to run🤦🏻♂️. I didn’t end up at any schools from that showcase. And neither did E.Y. Jr who was supposedly committed to Villa Nova for football. He got drafted instead in the 30th round by the Rockies, quit football and just worked to become a utility OF pinch runner. Moral is it’s good to have a dad who played pro ball and run a 4.4 40 in high school.
Uhhhh.....so there was this guy named Bo Jackson, and he.......never mind. Wow this Laureano guy is amazing.
The camera man should be fired 😂
r those the kelly green tops
Great throw but not even the best throw by an A's player in the Angels stadium. Cespedes had a crazy throw from the wall home a couple years ago.
Skip to 2:02 for the best footage
Close to the mutant throw
Anybody remember when Bo Jackson threw a bullet from the warning track to the catcher at home plate and nailed a runner trying to score from 3rd?
Actually the runner was on 1st and was on his way to steel second when the ball was hit to deep left field. He was a fast runner and had a good head start and still was gunned down by Bo Jackson.
Fire that cameraman
Baseball !!
Cespedes esque
how bout eric young with the heads up baserunning
I'm confused about the camerawork whiners!!! There ate shitloads of awesome shots!!!
That was a very nice throw. There would be many more plays like this if baserunners all ran the bases as carelessly as this fellow. Yeah, the throw was 321 feet but the base runner had to run about 135 feet with a right turn along the way. Thus, a 'mortar' round got him. Much more exciting is the 'cannon' throw from the outfield to 3rd or home that results in a tag play on a runner trying to advance 90 feet..
You're an idiot... clearly...
Best angle is 2:03
Holy shit
Jose Guillen-esque
PEDS haha my man
