Lauren Elizabeth Fine Art I wouldn’t say a lot, he has more light brown fur, but it surely made me want to paint my dog o canvas! His name is Chance, so maybe it would be a good chance to try
Lauren, thank you soooo much for what you do and who you are. I have followed many of your tutorials and find your loving, patient, self-accepting attitude calming on a deep spiritual level. I did your black lab mother's day video on Mother's day and dropped it off for a little 4 yr old girl named Sophie today. I literally went into some kind of trance when I was painting that and listening to your voice.
mark stewart I am so thankful for this Mark! So glad to hear you could also give your artwork to a child. Keep on creating! And thanks again for sharing!
Have a German Shepherd mix. He just turned 1 1/2 years old. His name is River and he loves all dogs, cats and people. He loves to sit on our picnic table under the umbrella when its hot (90's). I tried to paint him but can't seem to get his hair or eyes correct. Will try using your techniques so I can paint him for my wife's 60th birthday. The hard part is River is a light beige, black, grey and and light brown color. She loves this dog and I believe in these tough times it would make here extremely happy. Keep on painting!
MrCorona1959 thank you for sharing. I recommend using raw sienna and maybe a little orange, and then black and white to get those greys. Place down those darker areas first then layer random dots of color overtop that.
I knew would find the video where you do a GSD and I am here for it!! I decided my third “specialty” will be animal portraits and I wanted to start with my girls. Long story short watching this video, saving this video and Thank You for all your videos.
How you are so talented! 😮 I just subbed 🎉 I watched the whole video and it was amazing to see the little sketch turn in to a big beautiful German shepherd I am going to try to do this I have a gsd!
You make it look so easy! During these ‘cloistered’ days I’ve been attempting to paint various dogs of mine and friends. You’re instructions are so clear to follow, and your choice of colors is great. Thank you so much.
I appreciate that Valerie. Thank you! I really try to make it a fun, straight forward experience for creatives. If you need any help, I’m happy to assist you in your paintings!
Love your tutorials, I am learning so much about painting with acrylics from you. Thank you. I watched your German shepherd video and then painted a beautiful dog on an 8x10. Knowing what colors to use and how to mix them was so helpful. I would show you the painting but I don’t know where to upload.
Just found your amazing videos and love the small dog paintings, and different breeds. I follow along and you create a stress free and relaxing atmosphere. Thank you.
I’ve been managing with pencils but my gsd is not working so well with graphite . so trying with paint. Enjoying your very clear instructions and advice thank you.
thank you so much for this! I haven’t felt a good enough artist and more so with classes at the museum closed due to covid-19. I will most definitely paint my german shepherd mix and my late german shepherd lab mix. Thank you, once again. Your painting is beautiful ✨
@@laurenelizabethanimalart3215 i know and that’s how i actually did so for my high school art work (was homebound since 13 years old it isn’t the same because one gets left behind). A 1 minute tutorial once took me 3 hours haha. I’m going to just try my best and invest myself in tutorials. Going to look through your channel to see if you have any other tutorials! side note: BLESS, YOU DO! And btw you are so pretty ❣️
Wonderful tutorial. I do wish you’d bring the painting closer to the camera once in awhile so we can see a bit of the detail as you go. ( the nose especially) I will for sure try this and again it’s a wonderful painting. I look forward to finding more of your tutorials.
Jasper is my gentle giant. Hes the most loving loyal dog I have ever had. My constant companion since my husband died. When he looks at me, its like he sees my soul.
What brand are those short paint brushes you use? They look so comfortable in the hand. And I'm so excited I just found you - you paint exactly like what I am trying to do. Are you self taught? YOu keep it so simple and that is fabulous.
Thank you for taking the time to really show us what to do. May i ask you, how can I figure out what colors I need? For instance, how do I figure out the correct colors for pomeranian, black and tan German shepherds (they have that same yellow-ish color in their coats), etc?
Jennifer, I'm more than happy to help you, send me photos to my email and Ill give you the exact colors I would use. My email is lauren@laurenelizabethanimalart.com
I do. I actually have 5 German Shepherds right now. They are Longcoat European Imports. 1 working line who is female, and 4 Showlines. 3 german females and 1 Polish male. He is a UKC Champion. I studied art in college 35 yrs ago, my college education was paid for by Purina....surprisingly....or maybe not, I chose a career path with dogs rather than art. My mother is a professional artist. I struggled, always comparing my art to my mom's art. It took years for me to realize our styles were completely different, and there was no reason for my insecurities. I painted as a hobby off and on for years. My love for dogs, that is a different world. That is my passion, my screen name, gsdmom... gsd = german shepherd dog 😊 I started training and showing both as a Jr. handler in Conformation and in Obedience in the 70s while I was in 3rd grade. I had a Norwegian Elkhound then. I eventually started teaching private, group classes, and extended personal training where I kept their dog for several months, trained it, and then trained the owner. I have been a show judge, a breeder/trainer with a German Shepherd kennel. I still train, show, and I'm an AKC Ring Stewart. I have trained a couple of the pup I bred but held back to be Certified Service dogs. Both are medical alert service animals. It is a fabulous breed "If" you want an intelligent animal, you want a challenge and you want to challenge them. They aren't ps Unfortunately, my babies are all getting older. I have been thinking about doi.....ng some portraits. It has been so long since I picked up a brush. At least I used acrylics. That was my paint of choice. My mom's was oil.... smelly back in the 70s!! I enjoyed watching this. Thank you. 🐾❤🐾 ,,.,,,.
I just finished a white German Shepard commission. I love this bread, wow 5 germans!?!?! I bet that was hard having a mother as an artist and then going to art school. I can imagine that was a lot of pressure. I hope this tutorial inspires you to keep painting and embrace the original style only you can create. Thanks for your message and story dear!! God bless.
I understand that I am just now watching this in 2021 but I recently got a GSD and I was looking to paint him and this video was super super helpful. And really funny thing that my dog does to get attention when he feels like we are ignoring him is take one of his favorite balls and rolls it under the bed or under a dresser so we have to get up and get it for him and he will repeatedly do this until he gets bored of us sitting on the ground next to him repeatedly grabbing the ball or stopping him from rolling it.
Can you do a tutorial of a white German shepherd? I have 2 shepherds one is white and the other is black. I will eventually be doing portraits of them both and I would love some hints of painting white fur and black fur.
I just posted a video on white and black fur animals. It may help you with this. I don't think I'll be doing a white german soon just because I already have a few tutorials on german shepards.
I really enjoyed this video, and it is one that I really want to try. a couple weeks ago, we had to put our Golden Retriever Down. Cooper was 10 yrs old, and had advanced lung cancer. We then got a 10 week old German Shepard puppy, we call her Bailey. I would really like to see and try a tutorial on a Golden Retriever. I have a picture somewhere of Cooper with a baseball in his mouth, and I think that would be a good picture to try and paint.
I’ll add it to the list of requests. I don’t see why not! Especially since I love that breed! Just may take a little while :-) I appreciate your feedback.
it made me so emotional.. I have a German Shepherd and this reminds me of him so much. It was really calming to watch
Aww! I’m so thankful this brought good emotions. Does this look like your dog a lot?

I would love to see a groenendael or a blue merle sheltie
Wow what unique breeds, but I'll add it to the list.

Thank you!
It would be SOOO helpful if you could include a print out for people who want to transfer the drawing instead of sketch it from scratch.
I'll definitely add a reference photos to this. I'm so sorry about that!
I would love to paint all breeds
Thanks for your feedback Sherry! I'll see what I can do. What is your favorite?

Thanks so much!
I take care of strays but a basset or a pitt
How that is so wonderful! Thank you for doing that. And wonderful choice of breed. Pit bulls are quite easy to paint as well.
I love all breeds, but I have Chihuahuas, Yorkie, Pitbull, and Boston terrier.
Good to know! I can definitely do that in the future! :-) Thanks again!
How about a yorkie then a golden retriever. Thanks
I keep seeing golden retrievers everywhere. And yorkies are actually very easy to paint! I'll see what I can do. Love your feedback.
How about an extremely adorable red heeled that is a dork🥳😜
