This was a helpful update, thank you! I watched your previous video and it was ticking all the boxes minus the battery. The overheating is still a concern, but I'm looking for something simple and small to record DJ sets with and I think this could be perfect. Thanks!
Wicked just got a longer usb-c to usb-c cable and put the battery into a sling bag - a little cumbersome but can now record for longer when on a shoot ..... thank you ( don't know why i did not see it before )
Darn it. It gets pretty complicated and I am quite stuck. So, long story short - I'm a teacher and a journalist and I need a camera for both jobs. Something that will suffice for 5-6 hours per day of online conferences as well as occassional interview recordings. But that overheating problem seems to rule out Canon V10 for me entirely as I am going to, very likely, fry that poor device very fast. On that note, do you have anything that you could recommend me?
It is challenging for any camera to operate for 5-6 hours per day. Additionally, if you need a camera of a similar size, finding the right one becomes even more difficult. In any case, I would recommend going for a standard mirrorless camera, buying multiple batteries for when you're on the go, and a compatible dummy battery for continuous power. That said, the most affordable option is the Sony ZV-E10. A mini pocketable tripod, like the Joby HandyPod, could also be useful. There’s a video about this camera shutting off due to low battery (not overheating) after 1 hour and 30 minutes of recording at 4K, both outdoors and at room temperature. In 4K, the camera is more prone to overheating, and the battery drains faster, whereas in full HD, the camera handles better. I hope this helps! Extra info: the camera can be used as a webcam with no additional software required - just an usb-c cable is needed. Hope this helped!
@@cameraexplorations Aye! I really appreciate your generous response. It's a tremendous help. Btw. I've noticed it is a strain on the camera to go for that long as my previous not-so-great Razer Kiyo simply died on me in the middle of the lesson while also buzzing ominously as if there was a short circuit.
In a video of when you took the canon 1200d you used a 24mm lens you said it was the 2nd most cheapest lens that canon sell is the 18-55mm lens worse or better than the one you used.btw i know that was a really old video but pls ans
I said that the Canon 24mm f/2.8 STM is the second cheapest PRIME lens made by Canon. The 18-55mm is a zoom lens. There's no point in comparing a prime lens with a zoom lens in this case. They are both cheap and good. It all depends on a person's needs. The 18-55mm zooms, giving more flexibility, while the 24mm doesn't zoom but lets in more light. Both are nice to have, but when choosing one, it all depends on the photographer's needs and what they want to achieve.
If I were to leave it on all day, I guess I wouldn't have a working Canon V10 anymore. By saying that it gets 'so hot that you could fry an egg on it' I warn/hint at the fact that it might break if it's used for many hours, making it unsuitable for Twitch streamers, for example. If you need a good webcam for to 2 hours, it is fine, but I wouldn't leave it on for more than 2 hours.
@@cameraexplorations thanks for the fast reply. if I used the hdmi output instead with card reader to a webcam, do you think it will still heat the same?
There is a segment, towards the end of this video, where I show just that. It can record continuously for a maximum of 1h, in Full HD, then it stops and you have to press the record button again, if you wish to record more.
For every beginner, I recommend three things: a DSLR camera, an 18-55mm lens, and a 50mm f/1.8 lens. If you can only get the first two initially and purchase the 50mm f/1.8 lens later, that's fine. In my opinion, these three items help a beginner learn the basics of photography faster without requiring a significant investment. The brand of the camera isn't very important; what you buy should depend on your budget. You don't have to spend a lot to learn-those three items will suffice. That's it.
I haven't tried this since I don't have a USB-C power bank or power brick at home. It definitely can charge if you use those, but since I haven't tested it, I don't know if the battery icon turns gray during extended recording. If anyone in the comments has tried using a USB-C power bank or power brick, a response would be greatly appreciated.
I set it to 4K resolution and left it on as a webcam/for streaming. It doesn't seem to shut down even after two hours, but it gets really hot. I didn’t want to leave it on for more time, since I don’t want to break my camera.
FYI - Refurb sells for $200 on Canon website. But not for me still due to the cons you mentioned. Can't even put this on a gimbal and looks like an old camera from 2009 like the kodak zi8... Thanks for the review!
Sorry iam just new to this camera world can you tell me does the camera come with a prime lens what is a prime lens and how much is that one i think it was the 24mm prime lens please tell a little Btw iam still really sorry but i want to spend my money wisely if you answer it would be a great help pls ans
Usb C to Usb C to a power supply. What do I plug into my computer for the cameras to work in OSB studio and Streamlabs so I can record video? The cameras are only lasting an hour.
If you have a USB-C to USB-C cable, use it to connect the Canon V10 to a USB-C port on your computer. This will allow you to view the footage on your computer's monitor and the camera will not drain/use its battery.
What is your opinion of the Canon V10 now, after seeing the solution presented in this video?
this video sold me. thank you for all your pros and cons.

Nice to hear that this solution is working out for you! All the best!

Yes, I mentioned this in the first sentence of my previous comment. Hopefully the new cameras are better, they should be.

if it heats in 2 hours using it as a webcam, it can not be used all day long as a webcam? or it will still get the job will frying some eggs on it?

I haven't tested that, but I think it would run into the same exact issue: very hot in 2 hours.
@@cameraexplorations ok thanks for the quick replies
If you leave if on for more than 3 hours it will definitely fry some bacon . Make sure you use it in the morning for breakfast.
How long can the cam shoot video continuously till it stops?

Iam just a begginer and jist need to learn the basic of photography and need it for fun to learn something new pls tell wich should i buy

i can charge using powerbank and using apple type c to type c cable ?

Very helpful thanks a lot
Thanks very much for the fix for not charging during recording, you saved some of my videos 😊
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for sharing the good news! 😀
i wanted to ask if i do for streaming and setup 4k reso . its gonna be overheating? and make camera auto shutdown?
I set it to 4K resolution and left it on as a webcam/for streaming. It doesn't seem to shut down even after two hours, but it gets really hot. I didn’t want to leave it on for more time, since I don’t want to break my camera.

Thanks for sharing! I understand your needs. I also prefer a camera that offers more flexibility, even if it is bigger.

Prime means the Lens can't zoom but it has better image quality compared to a zoom lens in the same price range
so its just a new wird version of the lecria?
I don't know what "lecria" is, but yes, its a "wird". The wired version of a Canon V10. :D
@@cameraexplorations sorry, i ment "legria" its one a lot of vlogers used a while back bit its discontinued
Ah, yes. It is, indeed, like a Legria, but much more compact.
