now that you are 80%...you need to go for secondaries all the way to 100%..Tinnitus, if you have headaches file it, Sleep Apnea..if you have sleep issue get a study at the VA and then file it, If you take meds for PTSD and have IBS or GERD file it. these are all secondary to your service connected disabilities...Don't stop and don't give up...you waited 20 years..don't wait no more. Educate yourself on the VA and the claim process..Good Luck..

Trust me if you are in a combat zone for 7 to 10 months with the constant thought that you may be killed or injured is stress in itself... It was a living mental nightmare

The VA (Viperous Aggrevators) Claims Deniers jump to the conclusion that the VC & NVA RPG's, ambushes, snipers and sappers were not aimed at us. The reality is we all carried M-16 rifles, all wore the same green uniforms, and all rode in the very same trucks as the 11 Bravo warriors.
It is very, very, very hard to represent oneself and file any paperwork at the VA. Specially when one relies on what is in ones medical or military records. They deny everything. So thank you all for these videos. Wish I knew CCK before.

In my service in 1968 I escorted troops killed in Viet Nam to their next of kin. Army regulation stated if the NOK wanted to view the remains I had to open the sealed box it was shipped in. Over 100 bolts held the seal down. This trooper had been MIA for a month in 120 degree weather. You can imagine what the N0K saw. I got sick and so did the Mother. In 2016 I was awarded 50% PTSD disability. Every one I took home was in a sealed box and yes I had to take the seals off. Now, 54 years later when I see troops coming home draped in a flag, all of the trips I made pops back in my mind. Military funerals are the worst for me. When the fold the flag and present it to the K0K and play taps, I go crazy. The VA has denied all of my appeals. Over a year ago I was diognosed with Demintia and can't remember what I am suppose to do. I have all but given up.

My battalion was the third to do the crucible in MCRD when it started on 96. On the last day I was taken to the hospital with flem with blood and 100 plus temperature. I ended up with hypothermia and stayed at the naval hospital. My original medical record got lost and the naval hospital only has intake documents. This led to my service connection chronic bronchitis which has led to sleep apnea. Having a hard time connecting everything because they can't find the incident. Definitely sounds non combat stressor
I’m P&T the best way is continue seeking treatment for about five years which will show your disability hasn’t gotten any better and is static and then request to be P&T

Now they want more info, I told them everything, my wife was there in the consult and told them I almost choked her to death in my sleep. These people make me sick, they say that it was not on medical records. How was I supposed to know I had ptsd? And by artrillery, my liver has cirrhosis due to the poisonous water at camp lejuene, I was left with 19 spinal injuries in the cervical, toráctic, and my lumber which has already been operated on in 2014. Yet they say it’s in my medical records but not military related. I almost lost my life last year in November when my portal vein exploded, and the doctors were scrambling to keep me alive. I lost 40 pounds in 4 day’s I lost all my motor skills I couldn’t even stand up? They took me off the transplant list and said they were going to try to keep me alive for a year before they reconsidered me back on the waitlist. I was 150 mcgs of fentanyl due to the extreme chronic pain I suffer in a daily basis due to all injuries, the shoulder Surgoen said he needed to remove the whole left bone from elbow to shoulder because it is completely destroyed and replace it into the rotor cup. Everything I suffer is military related. With only a 20% disability rating? For my 2 deaf ears. Go figure?
How about finding a shipmate with his wrist slashed. He survived but I still feel guilty I didn’t see the signs and have flashbacks about finding him bleeding.
It's a traumatic event that occurred. You were there and you saw it and it obviously bothered you and I'm certain you can't forget something like that. I used to think PTSD was all "Combat" specific etc and that is not the case. People have claimed for car accidents, plane crashes, just learning about a suicide etc. If it still bothers you then its a traumatic event.
Never filed a claim, I have a question. I was an infantryman and combat veteran of Afghanistan. Can I submit only one stressor when filing a claim, or can I submit multiple? I have 41 I’ve written down from my time in country.

Maura, Alyse, and Nicholas, this video was fantastic! Are all mental health conditions handled the same way as PTSD? What if your condition is Claustrophobia and the C&P examiner opines that the constant exposure to a vault like setting is just as responsible for a soldier developing a condition of claustrophobia as a singular event? I've seen BVA cases where sailors on submarines developed claustrophobia because of constantly working in a confined space. Thanks for the video!
The mental health stuff is all in the same basket. PTSD is the best if you can get it, there are many symptoms associated that you can tie to secondary claims. See my post just below that lays out all the symptoms for 70% PTSD.

Google "viet nam military engagements" and you will get a massive list of them, pick the ones you were involved in. I did the same as I was all over III Corps around Siagon and used this to recreate my history in combat. I also had lots of pictures of post battle casualties, weapons seized etc...anything will help.
Would being involved in an automobile accident in 1988 when I was in the US Army serve as a stressor? Since it was 32 years ago I contacted my insurance company and my insurance company gave me an affidavit on their letterhead (Allstate) verifying I was in an automobile accident, date and tiime and policy number. Would the affidavit suffice as a stressor?
Well you are Property of the Military 24/7 so it does not matter if he/she was on leave. You were in the Military when it happen. If you got into trouble on leave they would still discipline you depict whatever.
I had a c&p exam jan 2021 I got a great exam the va contracted examiner stated I had 2 stressors and diagnosed with ptsd the va sent for records proving the stressors they could not find no evidence it took va 1 year and 5 months to get back to me got a letter in the mail saying they could find no evidence of my stressors would my 2 buddy statements help me
I have a case in now for ptsd and somatic symptoms disorder. I have been waiting for over three years. The VA says they don't need anything else from me at this time???? My question is, do I need to wait until this PTSD claim is complete before filing for something else? I would like to file a secondary claim. I am rated 10% for tinnitus and would like to file a secondary claim for migrains. I have medical evidence in my VA records for headaches going back at least 4 years. I also have an ap called Migrain buddy which tracks the conditions and effects of the headaches. I also have a diagnosis from a private PHD physician with a DBQ and a nexus letter stating "more lickley than not" I couldn't find a number to contact you. Hope this works.
Good Afternoon! Thanks, for the panels informed opinion. That said, as a veteran, 'Nick's,' viewpoint that 'COMBAT' is the only way that the VA. believes that a stressor occurred. I'd hope, that the panel pursues 'Combat Related Special Compensation,' the action/event which entails 'live fire exercises' which translates in the theatre being globally. This is considered to be 'practice, practice, practice.' There certainly, has been many disconnects; as you've expressed and mentioned. However, Wounded Warriors, are still having to live with the inequities of the VA's acts and omissions. While they conveniently, become disinterested in our lives. After all, at the end of the day, those in the administrative chairs, will not here the sounds of our pain, does that mean they are only thinking of themselves? In the Navy ,anytime you are deployed, especially Aviation the tempo is identical to war time tempo.,The Danger is constantly present. Fate can happen during peace time or war time training accidents! The Navy has their enlisted aviators fly all day and work all night for the next day Helicopters are very dangerous. I have a question which doesn't pertain to PTSD but I'm a veteran who received arthroscopic surgery on a non service connected knee. Should I be allowed disability because of arthritis and chronic pain due to having this surgery? I was paid temporary 100% but they stated it was for my left knee which is service connected but was never operated on. Please help clarify
You need to get a doctor to state that the second knee problem was a secondary condition from the service related condition or if your surgery was done in the VA hospital it can be connected that way. It’s a maze but don’t get discouraged.

The military recruitment process is at an all time low, because potential military recruits are seeing in every media platform how the veterans are treated, especially upon return. My grandfather served in WWII and father in Vietnam and returned home from war, still discriminated against and prejudiced in nearly every sociopolitical and economic way. I am myself a Desert Storm Veteran, struggling with my own disability claims. It shouldn't take veterans centuries to have success on their claims only to be vindicated post mortem. Atrocious at best. I wouldn't let either my sons nor daughters join the United States military today, they grew up watching what their own father went through. I think it's time for the Supreme Court to get involved as natural rights are being prejudiced and violated by administrative agencies.
I understand how your saying to prove events but can you use press release announcements of where division units go to a degree I mean you can find press coverage faster than the VA records reporters, at least army times news reporting records travel with general military information chain of events of the day of a unit with information of general whereof the division unit of the veteran can prove collaboration day of life in war
Question: I submitted a claim for sleep disorders and was diagnosed with PTSD during my C&P exam by the psychologist examiner. My examiner and I discussed my stressor and at length during the C&P exam. To my surprise, at the conclusion of the exam, the examiner informed me that she was going to recommend service-connected PTSD. Should I expect the VA to come back and ask for a stressor statement with evidence of the stressor?
Sam Jones they probably will not ask you for a stressor, they will just award the PTSD recommendation from the doctor. The percentage will be based on what the doctor said your issues are.
Olalekan Adewale My PTSD diagnosis wasn’t even addressed in my claim results. They simply denied service connection for the sleep disorders. I’m in the process of submitting a claim for PTSD. I will include a statement with my stressor along with some buddy letters. I also requested a copy of the C&P exam results (under the FOIA) where the VA’s own contracted psychologist diagnosed me with PTSD. I’m going to include that in my claim as well. I would “think” it would be hard to deny the claim and service connection when their own people have diagnosed me with it. But who knows...
@@samjones9006 You can be diagnosed with PTSD but it doesn't mean it is service related. Your stressor event will need to be verified and the diagnosis will need to come from a VA or contract psychiatrist/psychologist at the PTSD C&P exam.

My situation with PTSD...Asleep at 2 AM in my rack and Unknown assailant Assaulted me with a Wrench, Blood Had 4-5; stitches in ships' Medical Bay the Assailant never caught....all on my Medical Record with records state PTSD and The Assault itself

IF they give you Tinnitus it will cap at 10%, but that can drive a secondary claim of migraines, depending on how bad they are and frequent can go much higher.
I've taken the 17month course a was told that I was able to get my VA Disable for PTSD because alot of the trigger were used on me from Tylenol small that's how I went to service so would that be non service connected?
If your record says you served in a combat zone, they will most likely just have to presume your story is true. I served in Afghanistan as a motor transport operator, and it's on my dd214. I also got an ARCOM while in Afghanistan, stating we were exposed to small arms fire and ied ambush attacks.

I spent 2 months in the gulf in 91 that was stressful in of itself. The whole unit was short tempered and aggressive

The Navy has situations that mirrors combat without being in a combat zone i.e. USS Enterprise shipboard fire documented around the world in 1968?

The mental health stuff is all in the same basket. PTSD is the best if you can get it, there are many symptoms associated that you can tie to secondary claims. See my post just below that lays out all the symptoms for 70% PTSD.

You will need to seek doctors recommendations or ask to speak with a Behavioral Health Provider/Specialist. Tell them everything and how it affects your every day lifestyle.
Can a news report, army times reports, muster roll call of a division units prove whereof of soldiers events for veterans benefits news coverage of gulf/Vietnam war?
Google "viet nam military engagements" and you will get a massive list of them, pick the ones you were involved in. I did the same as I was all over III Corps around Siagon and used this to recreate my history in combat. I also had lots of pictures of post battle casualties, weapons seized etc...anything will help.
Would being involved in an automobile accident in 1988 when I was in the US Army serve as a stressor? Since it was 32 years ago I contacted my insurance company and my insurance company gave me an affidavit on their letterhead (Allstate) verifying I was in an automobile accident, date and tiime and policy number. Would the affidavit suffice as a stressor?
Questions: were you on leave at the time of the automobile accident? Were you on base and in a military vehicle?

Well you are Property of the Military 24/7 so it does not matter if he/she was on leave. You were in the Military when it happen. If you got into trouble on leave they would still discipline you depict whatever.
The VA would likely not consider that unless it was a military vehicle...you need Combat stressors if you have any, those work best.
I had a c&p exam jan 2021 I got a great exam the va contracted examiner stated I had 2 stressors and diagnosed with ptsd the va sent for records proving the stressors they could not find no evidence it took va 1 year and 5 months to get back to me got a letter in the mail saying they could find no evidence of my stressors would my 2 buddy statements help me
I have a case in now for ptsd and somatic symptoms disorder. I have been waiting for over three years. The VA says they don't need anything else from me at this time????
My question is, do I need to wait until this PTSD claim is complete before filing for something else? I would like to file a secondary claim. I am rated 10% for tinnitus and would like to file a secondary claim for migrains. I have medical evidence in my VA records for headaches going back at least 4 years. I also have an ap called Migrain buddy which tracks the conditions and effects of the headaches. I also have a diagnosis from a private PHD physician with a DBQ and a nexus letter stating "more lickley than not" I couldn't find a number to contact you. Hope this works.

I'd hope, that the panel pursues 'Combat Related Special Compensation,' the action/event which entails 'live fire exercises'
which translates in the theatre being globally. This is considered to be 'practice, practice, practice.' There certainly, has been many disconnects; as you've expressed and mentioned.
However, Wounded Warriors, are still having to live with the inequities of the VA's acts and omissions. While they conveniently, become disinterested in our lives. After all, at the end of the day, those in the administrative chairs, will not here the sounds of our pain, does that mean they are only thinking of themselves?

The only way I've heard of is the wife of the deceased can get the records. Then you have to have documentation showing you were in the same event.

In the Navy ,anytime you are deployed, especially Aviation the tempo is identical to war time tempo.,The Danger is constantly present. Fate can happen during peace time or war time training accidents! The Navy has their enlisted aviators fly all day and work all night for the next day Helicopters are very dangerous.

I have a question which doesn't pertain to PTSD but I'm a veteran who received arthroscopic surgery on a non service connected knee. Should I be allowed disability because of arthritis and chronic pain due to having this surgery? I was paid temporary 100% but they stated it was for my left knee which is service connected but was never operated on. Please help clarify
You need to get a doctor to state that the second knee problem was a secondary condition from the service related condition or if your surgery was done in the VA hospital it can be connected that way. It’s a maze but don’t get discouraged.

The military recruitment process is at an all time low, because potential military recruits are seeing in every media platform how the veterans are treated, especially upon return. My grandfather served in WWII and father in Vietnam and returned home from war, still discriminated against and prejudiced in nearly every sociopolitical and economic way. I am myself a Desert Storm Veteran, struggling with my own disability claims. It shouldn't take veterans centuries to have success on their claims only to be vindicated post mortem. Atrocious at best. I wouldn't let either my sons nor daughters join the United States military today, they grew up watching what their own father went through. I think it's time for the Supreme Court to get involved as natural rights are being prejudiced and violated by administrative agencies.
I understand how your saying to prove events but can you use press release announcements of where division units go to a degree I mean you can find press coverage faster than the VA records reporters, at least army times news reporting records travel with general military information chain of events of the day of a unit with information of general whereof the division unit of the veteran can prove collaboration day of life in war
Question: I submitted a claim for sleep disorders and was diagnosed with PTSD during my C&P exam by the psychologist examiner. My examiner and I discussed my stressor and at length during the C&P exam. To my surprise, at the conclusion of the exam, the examiner informed me that she was going to recommend service-connected PTSD. Should I expect the VA to come back and ask for a stressor statement with evidence of the stressor?
Sam Jones they probably will not ask you for a stressor, they will just award the PTSD recommendation from the doctor. The percentage will be based on what the doctor said your issues are.

Olalekan Adewale My PTSD diagnosis wasn’t even addressed in my claim results. They simply denied service connection for the sleep disorders. I’m in the process of submitting a claim for PTSD. I will include a statement with my stressor along with some buddy letters. I also requested a copy of the C&P exam results (under the FOIA) where the VA’s own contracted psychologist diagnosed me with PTSD. I’m going to include that in my claim as well. I would “think” it would be hard to deny the claim and service connection when their own people have diagnosed me with it. But who knows...
@@samjones9006 You can be diagnosed with PTSD but it doesn't mean it is service related. Your stressor event will need to be verified and the diagnosis will need to come from a VA or contract psychiatrist/psychologist at the PTSD C&P exam.
@@thinkforyourself9334 Thanks.. I was diagnosed by a VA contract psychologist (from LHI). She determined it was service connected. I am going to gather a few buddy letters to verify my stressor, then submit a claim for ptsd.

My situation with PTSD...Asleep at 2 AM in my rack and Unknown assailant Assaulted me with a Wrench, Blood Had 4-5; stitches in ships' Medical Bay the Assailant never caught....all on my Medical Record with records state PTSD and The Assault itself
Don't forget all the secondary symptoms you have from that, file those as well!

I have not been sent for a c&p for anything other than bilateral shoulder pain and tinnutis.
IF they give you Tinnitus it will cap at 10%, but that can drive a secondary claim of migraines, depending on how bad they are and frequent can go much higher.
what about former police?
I've taken the 17month course a was told that I was able to get my VA Disable for PTSD because alot of the trigger were used on me from Tylenol small that's how I went to service so would that be non service connected?
So I have to be consistent… but the VA doesn’t. Cool.

If your record says you served in a combat zone, they will most likely just have to presume your story is true.
I served in Afghanistan as a motor transport operator, and it's on my dd214. I also got an ARCOM while in Afghanistan, stating we were exposed to small arms fire and ied ambush attacks.
