Hey Sean, Should we be hitting these same standards discussed in the video before talking to a recruiter and signing up ? Hey Sean great video again! Could you specify what times would you expect - minimum and goal - (assuming a flat surface) for the 10 miler with 35-45lbs?
2hr 30 min is the bear minimum. Most guys can do it in 2:15 or less. Good rule of thumb on the 12 miler is to come in with enough time to go at least 1 more mile if needed. I always walk up hill, run down hill, and alternate jogging and walking on the flats. Some guys can run the whole thing.

And don’t know if it matters but I’m wanting to be a Ranger medic hopefully enlisting early next year
I would say definitely sign up for 18 Alpha Fitness. I am doing his SFAS programming now and it’s the best training program out there. I’ve done quite a few including SOFLETE and other random SFAS programs you can find on the internet. Kevin’s program on 18A has all of it and then some to keep you moving and hitting milestones. It’s all focused on getting you slowly better at stuff you will encounter. So far, your doing good man. Keep up your training and don’t quit. I started training for this a year ago in April when I just turned 28 and I was doing much worse (especially the running) than you were. Lol It takes time, but believe me you will get there if you keep at it.
THANK YOU. I've been researching online for good metrics to measure myself against to see if I was ready for selection and this is perfect. Does weightlifting matter at all? Should we be able to shoulder press a certain amount for instance?
Its hard to quantify because the weight during team week is super awkward and heavy. Your lifting numbers in squats, dead lifts, grip strength would be probably be the best indicators if any as far as weight training goes.
Would you recommend going an easier army mos, or to sign a 18x contract right out of highschool. My recruiter said it would be better to not have bad habits and go straight to selection.
You can’t sign an 18x right out of high school. Minimum age is 20. Very few guys that young get selected. Some do but not many. You need good study habits, know how to make and present a power point presentation, etc.

Hey man I run a good amount and I think if you practice running a sub 6:30-6 min mile then after you can run that without a problem then you try your 2 miles again and remember to pace yourself. YOU GOT THIS 👊

Should we be hitting these same standards discussed in the video before talking to a recruiter and signing up ? Or is it by the time we get our selection date and have already been through Basic all the way to SOPC that we should be doing those things comfortably? How much would you say you improve physically on the PT tests from going through Basic, AIT, Airborne and SOPC? My PFT score is 236 (61 PU, 62 SU, 15:12 2 Mile), would it be realistic to think that i could max that out by the time i get to selection ?
i signed up not knowing the standards at all, i just worked hard to hit them along the way, it never ends
@@FNGACADEMY Thank you
Anthony if you can comfortably get a 240 enlist. By the end of OSUT you should be 280+ by the end of PC you will be flirting with 300 if not there. It’s on you though. Motivation means nothing without self discipline. You can do it if you want it bad enough.
Awesome video! Are you still doing the Delta Force interview?
at some point, he had to back out because i said "Delta" its a tricky environment
Hi bro. Can you tell me please? What kinde of season in this video? In which month going selection process in green berets? In the same time. Do you have roads in the mountains while going selection? Thanks.
Hey Buck, I’m a college runner and can easily do a sub 10:40 2 mile. However, my push ups and sit-ups are only in the 70s rn. Will my running make up for lack of push-ups and sit-ups? Thanks
I’m also working on getting my push ups and sit ups at the moment but progress is slow
70's is not bad with a run time that fast, but if you can get into 80's youll be a stud
@@FNGACADEMY appreciate it. Keep up the great vids!
What did you do to get your 2 mile so fast? That's my worst part on the APFT
@@Haynes30 Do more sprints, work on your running form (yes this is a real thing), do more strength training for your legs, especially unilateral exercises, and work on mobility
Great video. So I’m nowhere near ready to start any type of special operations training like my PT is like 30 push-ups 55 sit-ups and a 18:00 minute 2 mile run should I do a 18 Alfa fitness or something like it now or train on my own get stronger and faster then do some kinda of program.
Thanks I really appreciate it. Good luck on your training
👍👍👏Wish I still had decent knees lol
Heck YEAH !!!
Welcome back bro!
Half these comments are normal. The other half are about his mustache...
BTW Buck nice mustache
Number 1 USA.🇺🇸🦅
God bless América.🇺🇸🙏🏻
That mustache is dope
Thanks homie
THANK YOU. I've been researching online for good metrics to measure myself against to see if I was ready for selection and this is perfect. Does weightlifting matter at all? Should we be able to shoulder press a certain amount for instance?
Idk, but just build as much strength as you can while you get up to the metrics as you can and it should be in the right direction.
Its hard to quantify because the weight during team week is super awkward and heavy. Your lifting numbers in squats, dead lifts, grip strength would be probably be the best indicators if any as far as weight training goes.
The old ladies at my mall do log PT in front of Sbarro
Would you recommend going an easier army mos, or to sign a 18x contract right out of highschool. My recruiter said it would be better to not have bad habits and go straight to selection.
You can’t sign an 18x right out of high school. Minimum age is 20. Very few guys that young get selected. Some do but not many. You need good study habits, know how to make and present a power point presentation, etc.
Prior service guy here training to go back in for assessment and selection for PJ. Do you have a promo code for 18A fitness? Going to do his special warfare program that starts Monday, figured I’d ask before purchasing this weekend
Any tips from coming from the Navy, Blue to green?
Currently stationed in San Diego.
Where can I find the instrumental you use for your intro or is it self made? I kinda just want to listen to the whole thing lol
Buck I’ve been watching you for almost a year I’ve been trying to attend selection but deployment a baby and pcs put that on hold. I’m only lacking in my runs sit ups push-ups and rucking are all good but I can barely get a 14:30 on my 2 mile. Is there hope if I can’t improve it much more?
Hey man I run a good amount and I think if you practice running a sub 6:30-6 min mile then after you can run that without a problem then you try your 2 miles again and remember to pace yourself. YOU GOT THIS 👊
Buck We all know you were Karate chopping through whole Army career lol
Buck, any idea when the sfod D interview will be out?? Thanks
That stache is the reason why I can’t no longer say with 100% confidence that I’m straight
LMAO!
Are we going full handlebar and this mustache?
working on it... lol
Hey buck I still have time before I join but on my runs is it ok if I stop a few times? I’m getting better tho
progression is a slow and steady process brother! just keep at it!
Thanks buck
Okay I played soccer in college and 7 minute miles is cookin for 5 plus. Definitely doable though
What was that outro song. Sounds dope
tainted red vidsion
Have you known any prior service guys who came back in with an 18x make it? I was an 11b and got out in 2019, got my degree with high honors and have been excelling in civilian life. Great job, full time, girlfriend, etc. Problem is that I don’t feel fulfilled and want to come back in and shoot for SOF like I should’ve done my first time around.
I am getting ready to head to Bragg for Selection, I’m in the 18x program and I’m in pretty good shape. However, I had an ACL repair surgery in February and my knee still aches after long runs and rucks. Do you have any tips for minimizing impact and helping recover faster during selection?
Did you got selected my man???
@@josemexjr2844 they missed me on the airborne roster so I’m still a holdover at benning. I’ll go up to Bragg for sopc and selection at the end of February
Stay strong bro
