Here in America for the life of me I could never figure out why these guys were never monsters here. When you take into consideration that AC/DC came over here in 78 and then broke big a year later, I for one I'm not convinced that they didnt hone and modify there sound and technique after Quo themselves. Aerosmith, Ted Nugent were just starting to get the attention that Quo had been having in Britain for years. Thank God for vinyl. Without it and the perseverance for picking up the "Piledriver" that one day back in 1974 I might of never known what was happening thousands of miles away from me across the big pond. RIP Rick Parfitt.
There are several British Bands that never made here, but did in America, Def Leopard were an example, and American Bands coming to England to be recognised, it's probably differences in music taste.

To play concerts Rick must have had wrists of steel. The best rock rhythm guitarist ever and sadly missed. I had a 6 disc CD player in my last car, 5 of the discs used to change every week but PILEDRIVER was in there 52 seeks a year. Over two and a half years gone already. Time passes more quickly the older you get.
Sad that lots of music channel's have been playing George Michael non stop and a concert was shown of his on BBC, shame he died but I couldn't stand any of his music but I like a lot of quo stuff as do many others and yet I've seen nothing about him on TV no tribute no nothing to me he was more important than George Michael
Tina Jane Oxnam BBC4 finally got their act together a couple of fridays ago and showed a repeat of a Quo documentary from a few years back.it was the one that finished with the original band rehearsing to get back on stage again.so at least some welcome if belated acknowledgement of Rick,God bless his rocking soul.
He lived the life, and he was honest about it. There was no pretence about him at all. He knew the drinking and drugs were his own doing, but he didn't ask for sympathy and he didn't preach that life to anyone. He probably lived more than five guys would have managed but if you were to ask him to alter anything he'd probably laugh and say not on your life. He will always be remembered as a true rock n roller, and isn't that what he wanted?

at least they talk about george micheal. and Carrie Fisher and her mum. they haven't mentioned ricks funeral. or put a programme on about his life but as soon as it's george michael they haven't given it a rest. . he was more popular than G.m. when was it his funeral? . was he buried or cremated? and where. ?

if he wasn't such an idiot he would've been still alive. he was a good performer . abit of a laugh sometimes .expect u ally with francis rossi . I feel sorry for his twins . aswell as his older sons and 3 wife's. I've been going on holiday with friends to butlins minehead not realising that that's where he met francis there in the sixties. when I go there again I shall be thinking of him . 2 of the best records he wrote were whatever he wants & living on an Ireland. I love those records. I've got all the videos of his hits including them & what your proposing on my media player. RIP rick.
