If anyone knows acappella they know that 'Take 6' are the godfathers of acappella. Whatever you hear from any acappella groups these days are all influenced from Take 6. 30+ years and Take 6 will still swipe any acappella group now days.
Take 6 is a much better a cappella group than this video portrays - this looks like a more off the cuff riff than their usual. Here's a better recent example of their talents: ua-cam.com/video/Iw64vKVx5D4/v-deo.html
@stormrider4477 Hello to you and thank you for the comment and the link. We thought they had better songs, we just happened to pick the wrong one this time. Cheers
Yes. This looks like they might have been singing at a radio station? Or that type of thing. They're having fun and playing around a bit which is why they're not exactly "tight", and the mix isn't very balanced, and the camera doesn't seem to know quite where to go because the melody keeps bouncing from one part to another. In the future it might be a good idea to ask those who are making suggestions for a link to the song they're suggesting.
For those comparing Take6 to Pentatonix and other current A Capella groups firstly remember this song is more than 30 years old. Production wasn't the same. As with any artist they grow and "improve" as their careers move along through different stages of life and musical tastes. And like all current artist of any genre, they are standing on the shoulders of those who came before. It's a rhetorical question, but would there even be a Pentatonix if there had never been a Take6?
Guys, thanks for featuring my #1 Group! Listen to more of their discography! ua-cam.com/video/zRfcMn1TVAM/v-deo.html Quincy Jones calls them the BADDEST VOCAL GROUP on the planet and the groups you are comparing them to do not even come half close! No disrespect. Take 6 is highly regarded among singers and musicians. As a musician, I can tell you those harmonies are one in a million. NOT root or everyday barbershop stuff. People can't even sing those notes without breaking a sweat! They were in London before Covid at Alexandra Palace. KILLER production. All those Grammys are for real genius!!!
@Chuey's Mama Poor Chuey, sorry to have inflicted any pain, we had to go with what was requested. Here's to next weeks Spin the wheel. Stay safe and not licking outlets kids!!
Way to pick the wrong video of Take 6 but you kept it respectful so I appreciate that. These guys invented modern acapella and what you hear now from PTX, Home Free etc.. are because of them. Their music is being sampled and covered all over the place. Quincy Jones calls them the best acapella group period. You also somehow miss their unique chord structure as well which is a massive inspiration for Jacob Collier for example. 10 Grammy awards as well and still going strong. Yeah it's about the harmony here, but this is a very unique harmony far above barbershop. Its something you can ask music teachers about and they are completely gob smacked when they hear it. Do yourself a favor and get into the meat of what they do. Here they break it down for you ua-cam.com/video/BLXpcehiQUc/v-deo.html
If you really wanted to appreciate the brilliance of them and their performance you need to look at the 1988 video version of this song. That is when they were in their prime. Also look at their version of I'm on my way
LMAO! I can see B1 in his leather chaps and cop hat! "Black Leather Motorcycle Club"? I'm SOOOOO glad I got Chuey's therapist with him so I could finish this video!! Naughty naughty naughty. Imagine what I would have missed! BUT for real, this is not my bag at all, but these dudes are good at what they do. Just not my thing.
@Chuey's Mama Greta to hear you made it to the end you know we will always try and have some fun along the way. We all got hear someone new and that's always a good thing even if it's not your bag your musical knowledge was increased. I am still trying to find out how to sign up for the "BLMC"
Sounds like a lot of collegiate a Capella. Even though these guys are probably well past college. 😀 7:06 AHH!! So it is a collegiate group. DANG!! I have to be civil too?
Hi there , well this is a new type of A cappella. I’ve not heard of this group before, they sound ok, and they have a long pedigree of working with top musicians and musical stars. It’s wonderful that they have been around for so long, I don’t feel them like the more main stream A cappella groups of today, but they sure had some amazing voices. Thank you for a great upload and reaction 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Where do I begin..... Take 6, as previously stated, have been around for a long time.. Nathan is correct, wrong video to use, but hey.... If you don't mind me asking, do ayf the presenters actually sing? Or have vocal knowledge? Just a question.. Not to be taken disrespectfully 🙏🏽 And i do respect that everyone has an entitlement to their own view 🙏🏽
@David Francis Hello David and thanks for the comment. Nope, we have no singing skill what so ever and nor do we try and be vocal coaches. We are just 2 music lovers that enjoy finding new artists. We were recommended to check out Take 6 by some of our viewers. We already know Pentatonic, Voiceplay, Voctave and Home Free, so we do have some background on how other artists can sing. We are not saying they have no talent, we were just saying we have heard better and maybe this was not a great song to pick from them. Hope that helps
@@BritPopsReact I do respect your views...but these guys sing harmonies never touched by Home Free, Pentatonic......They have 10 plus Grammy Awards...I recommend you listen to them live in person and then you have a different view.
This group is Pentatonix idols. They started this. Came out in 1988. Influenced Boyz II Men and every group after. These guys are old now. Go look at some of their old songs and videos. As a matter of fact look at the 1988 version of this song
Hahaaaaaaa! I haven't even watched the video yet and I'm rotflmao!! Nice! Glad the sweets helped! OK, going to watch now... OK, so this is old school a capella. I kind of sit there with you guys at 8. I mean, I agree with all of your comments, but in particular, BP2 hit the nail on the head. We HAVE been spoiled by the likes of PTX, HF et al. In saying that, the song itself wasn't for me. I think if they took a more well known song, they could knock it out of the park. I've seen several old school style a capella groups like this on talent shows and I've been wowed. Song choice definitely matters. These guys get massive respect for their longevity, and their voices mingled together nicely. Also, what up with you two and weekend leather wear?? This isn't the first time it's been mentioned. Maybe it's THAT you are hoping to get sponsorship for. The mind boggles on the benefits though.. 🤪
@EnderOllie 4 Well, you were kind enough to let us know about "Jakemans" so I had to get it in there somewhere. Old BP1 caught me off guard with the "Black Leather Motorcycle Club" I though he was keeping something from me🤪🤪 As this request came from our Spin the wheel and we always ask for something obscure, it fitted the bill, not sure we will return but as a one off, it was fine and we have added to our music database, which is always good. Anything to keep the "little grey cells" active is always good. Onwards!!
Poor choice of song to introduce yourself. To Take 6 This one is poorly mixed and their voices already sound tired. I would suggest you watch them on a live set, on one of their gigs with their own in-house sound guy (Tony Huerta) Most of the group's you mentioned would shudder at your comments about Take 6. BUT... I can't blame you guys... You don't know their discography or their videos... And you unluckily picked one of the ...uhm... Not so nice ones... Let me see if I can find you something more interesting
ua-cam.com/video/bRvDXhdJ1oc/v-deo.html This live "Tribute" set is particularly good The lead singers are singing the songs that "influenced" them as individuals... The first guy singing is the older brother to Brian McKnight... The R'n'B crooner
I just stumbled on your channel and I don’t think you’ve really heard a good rendition of this song. Take 6 tends to make use the whole history of the African America musical experience when they on a single song. If you have another listen to the original track you’ll find that they reference a lot more the the Jackson Five and they go further then anything that Motown Artist put on tape. Please listen to the original recording of Spread Love, I guarantee you both with be floored.
