Can confirm. Have annihilated shins on hitch many times.
You can't tow with it (yet😀), so the tailgate is as close as you can get to a shin annihilator. You can't legally leave a ball and hitch in, in Massachusetts for this reason. You're supposed to take it out when you're not using it.

I fear I'm being the "a person on the internet will tell us" guy, but PTO is power take-off. Basically a spinny shaft off the engine for spinning mad accessories. It's a farm tractor thing. Please still love me.

Ive been watching MCM for about 7 years and in that time I've noticed that martin never says moog's name but moog says martin all the time.. Genuinely think this episode is the first time martin has spoken his name

Martin, you are the best man I know (well... I kinda know), and you shared exactly my thoughts with every explanation of "why a tiptruck and an excavator are a must-have in life".
I never had any contact with such machines until I had to use them to make some money (at a very difficult time in my life, usually I have an office job) and ever since, I just love digging trenches and holes and dumping dirt.
I was using american style trucks (ram 5500) but this cute kei tipper is the perfect thing for both fun and (some) practical use.

a PTO is a Power Take-Off device that uses the energy from the driveline to power an external device. On heavy trucks you can have the PTO either connected to the flywheel (good for a concrete mixer which needs to spin all the time) or the gearbox if you only need it when standing still (hydraulic pump).

don't forget the kanji for up/down. It felt really backwards though, forward for down and back for up.
haha yeah, my Japanese reading ability ends with katakana, and even then sometimes I need help from the chart.. kanji is a scribble fest in my eyes 😆

Awesome! I was thinking along the same lines as Moog about "tray". You should do a camping mod (not a permanent one though). Something lightweight but still comfy for a sleep or two... then do a road trip to check your fans around Australia!

After the last couple episodes on the BMW, I have to admit, I was frustrated and left with the feeling that I was watching a long commercial instead of an episode. This brought it right back for me. I know that I appreciate it when you guys are "emotionally" invested in a project, regardless of whether or not I like the direction of the build, I enjoy watching it progress. The support from Moog and the obvious joy that it brings to Marty ensures that this will be a great build series. Thank you!!

Welcome to the world of minitrucks. I got my 94 Daihatsu Hijet S110P to push a snow plow. Something with an enclosed cab, heater and windshield (with wipers even), makes a lot more sense than an ATV or UTV when you’re pushing snow around.
Turns out that it is the funnest thing I’ve driven on the road, since i was twelve, and my dad took my go-cart away because he caught me driving it on the road. The little guy has turned into my daily driver.
And, with the tipper (actually I think yours is a Heavy Dump), there is a space at the back of the cab and in front of the bed where you can add relays, fuse panels, etc. And, if you put the bed up in dump mode, and take of the engine protection panel you can actually get to almost all of the engine without needing an extra wrist.
Actually at low speeds, such as around the homesite they can haul 700-kg. Part of the weight limit is the Kei class regulations in Japan, which limit the max weight. The limit is most likely the tires. Get some of the little 12-plys and it will haul a full bed of sand.

Driving these kei trucks put a bigger smile on my face than any other car I have ever driven, I completely understand ya Marty, a Honda Activity was my initiation, and I will forever want one.
A smashed pie is a far less controversial sponsor than whatever that computer game company was. The pie also seems to have given you guys a far more reasonable deadline for the build. I hope we see more from the pie.

"You have to have owned a truck to understand." This is so true. I am 100% a sports car guy, daily a BMW e36 M3 or an Austin Healey Sprite. On a random whim I purchased a Jeep Comanche pickup. I felt exactly like Marty feels, it was super useful, smooth and great to drive, a satisfying relaxed driving experience. Particularly wonderful was the torquey I6 with a long throw 5 speed stick.
Unimog 404 axles and box, OM606, 40” tyres, crazy arches, 4” stack, roll cage with lights on top. Boom!

Marty is absolutely correct about a truck. Rented a half ton for a weekend to move some stuff. Kept it for the week. Bought the same model after I returned it. You can do everything with it.
