Same here our data center has switched to all new incoming servers HP. No issues so far keeps us happy. I personally use a Dell T430 at home it’s been good for a home server.
Thank you Morten for this video. I beg to differ about hp, the hardware is very dependable with sturdy quality components. Their pitfall is that they want you to buy everything hp. With so many riser PCIe cards the fans tend to blow slightly louder. For OS SSD, I found all brands work even market ones, but the high volume hard drives have to be hp otherwise the server cries. If you add any non-hp PCIe cards it also cries. You get the idea.
Hi Mamdouh Tawadros Thank You very much! way to mush errors on HPE,, bought 10 blade centers c7000 1½ years ago,,, some 210% error rate on them,, all needed an Intel CPU microcode patch,, all needed replacement of bootable dual SD card USB boot thing,, and 10% other error,, and we have had 5 blades that needed new system board. I have worked 10years with IBM/Lenovo,, changed the first Lenovo system board 2 month ago. HPE is great for keeping your job,, they keep us busy. Thank you for watching! :-)
Funnily enough, that fan issue can be fixed on G6-7 servers by *downgrading* the BIOS. I did it on my 380 G7 and it calmed down to ~35dB. The fans raised up even though I used a HP ConnectX-2. The fan speed issue is even worse on a DL180 G6. Adding a P410 in any of the full height slots shoots the fans up to 8000 RPM. Almost unbearable in a homelab environment.
The CPU patch is not HPE issue but an Intel issue. You will find all recent xeon cpu having the same problem across the board, whether Lenovo, or hp or dell.

I have had some poor experiences with HPE services,, where 10 days to fix a broken down dl380,, has been more the role then the exception :-/ and we have had batches of 30 servers with 100% fail rades because of bad firmware, netcards, SSD's, SD-card readers(the boot thing) on top of normal amount of what you could expected fails. NAS and/or SAN backup or cloud provider for backup 4. bare metal Hypervisor for run windows 2016 terminal server whit 30 client remote desktop any advice you give me... Thanks again, from italy...
Hi Massimino Bevilacqua Thank You very much! as a Lenovo Server fan boy,, I would recommend you to look at the Awesome Lenovo SR650 instead,,, For a NAS box on the cheap, I would go with a Synology NAS,, a rack one to make it look good. Thank you for watching! :-)
First which coming to my mind is the ILO. With the standard license you would have an option to do basic server configuration and Remote Console would be time limited. With the Advanced license you have much more flexibility. I would put 5 disk in RAID 5 and if you think about VMware, set the ESXi OS on the USB or SD card.
@@maxb90 actually you would have multiple options but still main connection is over Ethernet. You could use dedicated Ethernet port for the ILO at the back of the server, you have USB ILO port at the front but you would need the converter from USB to Ethernet to connect to the ILO and you could configure your standard Network Ethernet port to share the data traffic and iLO traffic through the same port but I would not recommend that.
No that tells you that they have very good sells department. I have worked with 100´s of IBM servers and now 100´s of HPE servers,, and it it the HPE servers that are keeping us busy,, there have way more,, at least 3x more unplanned downtime. And here it is totally normal that HPE 3th party techniques comes to visit you three times to get a standdart server like the DL380 G10 fixed. First visit he will have a network card, raid controller, ram block, with him. Witch will not fix the issue. (and this is after I have firmware updated this server, because HPE always wants this,, even though the server is right next to 139 100% identical Servers) Next visit he will have a system board, and a CPU with him. He will then quite surprised to discover that the system board that HPE has send is flawed, and they never experience that..... But on the 3th visit he will come with a working system board,, and after normally 10 days, I will have the Server back up. :-/
i am also building my backup server; ( Hp DL360 G7 8 bay version (with 8x 2TB 2.5 inch SAS drives)) . edit: the server i already have , the drives i can get for 'cheap' from my parts supplier ;)

nice server...too bad it is an HP :) are you going to do a follow-up showing it installed and connected to the SAN array?
Hi Unkyjoe's Playhouse
I do not know if I can,,, lets see. Just ordered that 2*500TB storage today,, and 26 2TB SSD's,,, $110.000 ish :-/
Thank you for watching! :-)
Coming from someone with lots of dell servers, HP is better.
You don't even want to know my troubles with iDRAC.
😂😂😂 why is it bad cause its HP??? They make great servers
It's a running joke... I don't care for HP's, but that is a personal preference, they make great machines!
Amazing to see what money can buy nowadays ... What's Lenovo's answer to this HP beast?
Hi Henk Kok
Thank You very much! Lenovo SR650,, I want one!! :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Thanks! Very clear and fun
Hi Architectorus

Hi Morten,Czechoslovakia split into the two sovereign states of the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic on 1st January 1993...
See it is not even 30 year yet, how should I remember:-)
Its always fun when you are transferring half a millions worth of servers to DC's :) Is the E5 series dropped now and replaced with the Gold, silver and bronze variant?
PS you can also get another 2 drives in the back making a total of 26 drives on this server
Hi Adam Leach Leach
Thank You very much! The E3, E5 and E7 is now replased with the Intel Scalable series,,, pretty much the same but with metal :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
cool video, continue like this :)
Hi Ole Morten Njærheim
Thank You very much! glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Czechoslovakia? :D 1993 happened a looong time ago :D ... Slovak here :D
Peter Bočan i still say czeslovakia still ...i was 11 when it split so i pretty much lived my childhood when it was still czeslovakia
Ahh I will give it another 10 years to see if it lasts :-)
I have not worked with big enterprise machines a lot, but is it really necessary to have that much ram and 2 18core processors to handle storage? It seems overkill. Please tell me why you need such a beast, I want to learn ;-) Btw, really cool video's (just discovered this channel today) it is interesting to have a look inside what goes on in a data center
Hi Niels ten Thije
Thank You very much! This server now control 500TB of HD and 26TB of SSD,, It might be well configured.
Thank you for watching! :-)
Chinese text says its a Class A product and will cause radio interference, Steps should be taken to accommodate for it
Hi Lobster Cation
Thank You very much! glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Thanks a lot, can you reccomend me for this server
1. a good remote tool
2. a good raid sistem with 5 disk 1.2TB SAS 10k
3. NAS and/or SAN backup or cloud provider for backup
4. bare metal Hypervisor for run windows 2016 terminal server whit 30 client remote desktop
any advice you give me...
Thanks again, from italy...
Hi Massimino Bevilacqua
Thank You very much! as a Lenovo Server fan boy,, I would recommend you to look at the Awesome Lenovo SR650 instead,,,
For a NAS box on the cheap, I would go with a Synology NAS,, a rack one to make it look good.
@@HUEFESFS thanks a lot, for ILO system is necessary a Ethernet connection?
@@maxb90 actually you would have multiple options but still main connection is over Ethernet. You could use dedicated Ethernet port for the ILO at the back of the server, you have USB ILO port at the front but you would need the converter from USB to Ethernet to connect to the ILO and you could configure your standard Network Ethernet port to share the data traffic and iLO traffic through the same port but I would not recommend that.
Did you get fired after this video?
Hi fedoracore321
If so, they forgot to tell me! glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
@@MyPlayHouse we are looking at buying the Proliant ML series, would you recommend this compared to a Dell or Lenovo?
I would of course go with a Lenovo, myself,, But I am sure the Proliant ML series is fine to.
Thanks!!
oh i wish i could afford one DL 380 gen 10 replacing my aging dl380 g6
Hi Viktor Madarasz

If you don't mind me asking, what does your company do that it requires so many servers?
Hi Cole Motuliak
I like to show you the hardware,,, for security reasons I do not answer that.
Thank you for watching! :-)
I love HP servers!
Putting in 19 - DL360 G10's soon running Windows 2019. We have reasons for 2019, so no comments needed.

Thank you for watching! :-)
Thank you po
Welcome 😊
mind "lending" me one of these? lol, i'm sitting here still stuck on a g5 server. have a nice day!
Not mine to lend out:-/
I was expecting more for that price...at least 10gb ethernet ports.
Hi macuser1k
Thank You very much! there were 4*1Gbit and 2* 10GBit,, and 12* 16Gbit HBA for SAN
Thank you for watching! :-)
The CPU's really need 4 Channels Each. 16 Sticks at the minimum.
No. He explained it correctly, each CPU has 6 channels. With two CPUs installed it would be best to use either 12 or 24 modules.
Yes it is 6 Channels on the Scalables.
Yes there is 6 memory channels,, so if there is 4 CPU´s in this server,, it is 24 or 48 blocks of memory,, to get max. performances.
Info: It is just called UEFI, replacement for BIOS, Can't be called UEFI BIOS.
Hi Johan Last
Watch ME :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Honestly hpe sells more than Lenovo, I guess that says a lot about how good their servers are. Maybe hardware problem is your personal opinion
Why is intel always so pricey?
Well Now we have some real competition with AMD,, so propoly soon we get way better prices.
CzechoSlovakia DOESNT EXIST ANYMORE NOW IS ONLY CZECH REPUBLIC AND SLOVAKIA
Miquel ehh same difference lul
Kirbyofdeath No because that's like calling Turkey Ottoman Empire when it's now just Turkey and Bulgaria.
Nahh I will give it 10 more years and see if it lasts :-)
nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice
Hi 8745400

i am also building my backup server; ( Hp DL360 G7 8 bay version (with 8x 2TB 2.5 inch SAS drives)) . edit: the server i already have , the drives i can get for 'cheap' from my parts supplier ;)
dedb25 ouch, 2TB 2,5" SAS, that's going to be exspensive. For this money you could also buy an newer server and an 3,5" shelf.
10 (2 a spares) 2TB drives cost me 250 eur incl shipping ;)
Hi dedb25
Thank You very much! good price,, I think!
Thank you for watching! :-)
dedb25 that's a damn good price, do you have a link?
I mean, here in Switzerland, we have a many shops, trying to sell the 73GB 2,5" plates for 20 CHF, so yeah, 25 Dollar for 2TB is really hot.
the same HDDs but 2nd hand and a little bit more expensive; www.benl.ebay.be/itm/JOB-LOT-CHEAP-10-x-Seagate-ST32000444SS-2TB-SAS-HARD-DRIVE-WORKING/132466090278?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
I will take that of your hands since I know you dont like HP :P
Hi thingyee1118
I would not do that to you,,you are to nice.. :-)
