Residents of East Worthing and Shoreham had the chance to grill their local Parliamentary hopefuls for the General Election at the Ropetackle Arts Centre at a special hustings event.
For the first time in 25 years, all candidates are unknown quantities, so this event offered residents the opportunity to find out who they are, why they want to represent you and what they hope to do as an elected representative.
The event is being organised and co-hosted by Ropetackle Arts Centre and the Shoreham Society. Simon Fanshawe, writer, activist and broadcaster, is host, and fielding the questions. Residents had two hours to get as much information out of the candidates as possible!
Each candidate was given 5 minutes at the start of the evening to introduce themselves, and after a short interval, took questions on a number of subjects, including the Economy, NHS, Education, Housing, immigration and important local issues.
Part One (before the interval) can be viewed here: • Part 1 - Shoreham by S...

Tom nailed it and clearly came across as the most capable candidate and was rightly elected as MP😊

What a shame our democracy only allows preselected questions to a selected number of candidates, by leaving out other candidates who might have brought up local issues that might have embarrassed the parties running the LOCAL council.
