In this video, I finally start to craft the Mawdrey Ascended backpiece which was introduced in the living world season 2. As we draw closer to the Heart of Thorns expansion for Guild Wars 2, I realize there's stuff I want to accomplish and I thought it would be fun to take everyone on this journey with me.

Gotta admit, I accidentally clicked this video. I probably like most people look for the shortest video and when I saw this was "part 1" i was like aweeee hellll nawwwww. But having gotten thru part one, it was really fun going along on this adventure with you. I really enjoyed it and will definitely subscribe. Almost makes me wanna try making some videos in the same long form adventure style. Super slick.
Yeah when I made this backpiece there were already a ton of succinct guides out there, so I figured, why not just record me as I got through the process slowly myself and folks seemed to like it. Thanks for your comment. It really made my night!
i found out you can get all the items for the mysterious seed, layline infused stone , vial of sacred glacial water and pile of phantasmal residue with out doing "The dragon's reach part 1" which cost 200 gems. (Which i paid and it frustrates me) when you can get it for under 5 laurels through speaking with the Garden supplies vendor (NPC name: Azarr Softhoof) in "Uplands Oasis" at "Dry top"

Thanks for this vid! I posted it on my guild's forum to see if anyone else has stuff they are working on before the xpac hits and this is one of my "to do" list items too! I'm almost done with it, still working on the third and final part for my ranger Tiger Lillii who would really look awesome with that backpiece!

I thought crafting Mawdrey was a lot of fun. I loved having to use all of my character's crafting abilities and going to various places to charge the items. By far the worst part of crafting Mawdrey was gathering the foxfires. I actually farmed most of them because I was short on money at the time. But it was totally worth it.
Thanks for making this guide!!! Cause on the wiki and dulfy and whatever it all gets a bit complicated, so it's nice to have a video to follow along with :D
Glad to see these videos, Mawdrey can be very daunting when taken as a complete task, but gathering the pieces in three parts, over three time periods makes it more approachable

note to everyone who's stupid like me and threw the items you get from dragon's reach part 1 away. You can buy these back for a couple of Laurels at the vegetable farm in the top left corner of the Dry Top map. Speak to the centaur guy over there :)

I have been putting Mawdrey off cause its so much work. Now, I want to do it.
I'll start crafting this tomorrow, kinda like it. And btw, a lot of people probably asked this but I'm too lazy to search for it: how did you get so much gold and gems? I keep spending mine on Ascended Armor and weapon skins like Volcanus
Folks get me gem cards for holidays and birthdays and I'm very frugal with them.

Oh but of course! When I think of plates of food, I immediately think they were cooked by Huntsman, not Chefs! Silly me.

I remember throwing away the seed and the water and all the stuff you need for maudrey, dunno why i did tbh. If you just replay Dragons reach part 1 do you receive the items again or?

If you do happen to lose one of the story items that can either be purchased from the centaur in Dry top oasis.
Also, you can repeat the story steps on an alt, which will provide all the items to that character.

feistyferret If you don't have the episodes unlocked then yes, but you only need 2 of the episodes. Dragon's Reach part 1 and 2.
