The only thing I don’t understand is why an extension cord with three lines is necessary. That wasn’t explained. From what I can tell, you separate one of the three insulated lines from the other two. You cut the separated line in half, creating an open circuit. You trim the insulation back from the separated line, and you screw the exposed wire into each screw on the switch. You then plug the fan into whichever outlet on the extension cord corresponds with the line you separated. When you press the button, the circuit is open and the fan will not operate. When the button is depressed (popped out), it creates a closed circuit which then allows the fan to turn on. What I can’t figure out is what the other two outlets are for. Is it just preference?
