impressive work, a suggestion as you get better with soldering and electronics look at using alternate circuits for the modes, you could hide a lot of your wires away by having pin connectors in areas that adjust the circuit and then just hide the wires inside the body itself. Amazing project and great job showing the work you had to do along the way !!
@@starfleetau Ooh I hadn’t come across those! Will definitely look into them for the next one, cheers! And glad you enjoyed, always worried I geek out too much or too little, happy I’ve got a bit of a balance
@@nectarmechanics The type I'd suggest if your planning on not having to worry about pins 'slotting' into each other properly is low profile spring-loaded pogo pin connectors or mill-max spring loaded interconnect headers. If you've ever seen the back of a garmin watch for it's charger/usb connector they use the first.. as do some laptops before they moved more to usbc etc when they were using magsafe style connectors. There are a lot of tricks you'll learn with electronics as you dive more into it, hiding the wires 'inside' is something you should do not only for aesthetics but also durability, and don't be too afraid of running them through joints, unless your using really **** wire eg the cheapest stuff you can buy, a lot of it can support general movement and bending, just try not to get it pinched and if your really worried use silicon wire (its really flexable) And don't worry about geeking out too little too much, some people will enjoy the deep dives some won't, you just have to do what you feel like you want to do.. It's your channel and videos in the end.
Primus himself couldnt have done better!! I've been thinking lately that given the reissues of G1 and Netflix Soundwave, it's a shame they couldn't have added soundchips so that inserting a cassette allowed you to play maybe 3 soundbites/quotes from Soundwave in the G1 cartoon. 3 quotes per cassette using the original 6. It would have been nice for the 40th anniversary. Looking at how talented you are, you could probably do something like it yourself. Anyway, Fantastic Work!!

@@VulpisFoxfire Kinda! I know Soundwave in G1 was a micro cassette recorder, but as I mentioned to a few others mine isn’t for a few reasons: In most reboots, and even how he acted in the g1 cartoon, he was portrayed like a self contained regular cassette player. I’d also already made Laserbeak and Ravage as normal sized cassettes because 3D printing micro ones would have been a pain, and I really wanted them to work with my soundwave. Thus, boombox Soundwave! And I tried my best to differentiate him from Blaster, the handle being the arms etc. Doesn’t mean I can’t still make a Blaster later down the line though 😄

Well done dude. I just worry about the sliders/sliding rails over time because it's something even official transformers struggle with because they ware out. I guess it's not that big of a problem since you can thicken the joints up with tape?
Thanks! Yep the slider system was something I was worried wouldn't work as I've heard hasbro has outright stopped using them on mainline figures now. For now he's doing fine, and if they do get loose a tiny bit of superglue to thicken it up does the trick!
that is probably the most epic way of using a 3D printer! the engineering is great and the design kinda reminds me of armada! but one thing I'm questioning, (transformers nerd question incoming) I thought blaster was the boombox?
@@prettycoolbananas1201 Ayy thank you so much! Glad the design is reminiscent of armada, love all parts of transformers and want my designs to reflect that! Your totally right, Blaster is normally the boombox, and Soundwave is styled like a Walkman. But in the cartoon he was portrayed more like a self contained player, ala a boombox. When I went to design my version, I wanted him to play normal sized cassettes like in most modern versions depict him, but his 80s toy was based on micro cassettes so the proportions didn’t match up well. Also I’d designed Ravage and Laserbeak a few months ago as normal cassettes because printing working micro cassettes would have been a pain, and I wanted them to work with this Soundwave. So to further distinguish my design, and to make him work more like the cartoon version, I went with the boombox! Sorry for the nerdy info dump, but glad to receive nerdy questions! And just because my Soundwave is a boombox, doesn’t mean they’re can’t still be a Blaster later down the road… 😁
@@prettycoolbananas1201 I know right? I was worried I’d either change him too much that he’d be unrecognisable, or just look like a Walkman with a handle. Think I managed a pretty decent redesign!
I can understand Hasbro/Takara not doing the "working cassette player" part, but how have they not made a Soundwave that's 1:1 scale with an actual cassette player?!
@@otaking3582 They kinda did! Sorta. The G1 toy is actually meant to be a micro cassette recorder, like you’d bring to lectures or dictate into. That G1 toy due to originally being a micro change toy is accurately sized to micro cassettes, just not normal big cassettes.

Toy designer and Transformers comic artist Don Figueroa did a big kitbashing project before becoming a pro.
There are a lot of tricks you'll learn with electronics as you dive more into it, hiding the wires 'inside' is something you should do not only for aesthetics but also durability, and don't be too afraid of running them through joints, unless your using really **** wire eg the cheapest stuff you can buy, a lot of it can support general movement and bending, just try not to get it pinched and if your really worried use silicon wire (its really flexable)
And don't worry about geeking out too little too much, some people will enjoy the deep dives some won't, you just have to do what you feel like you want to do.. It's your channel and videos in the end.

@@VulpisFoxfire Kinda! I know Soundwave in G1 was a micro cassette recorder, but as I mentioned to a few others mine isn’t for a few reasons:
In most reboots, and even how he acted in the g1 cartoon, he was portrayed like a self contained regular cassette player.
I’d also already made Laserbeak and Ravage as normal sized cassettes because 3D printing micro ones would have been a pain, and I really wanted them to work with my soundwave.
