Midge, married to Alan, son Ryan, daughter Nikki. I had all the happy family dolls except the grandparents. The first recall I remember was the box with pregnant midge didn’t show Alan. She was by herself, which might suggest (shudder) single motherhood. They recalled that box and re-released it with a cardboard cutout of Alan standing next to her. Haven’t heard about the rings and I don’t recall if mine had them. I had all those Krissy doll sets, and KB was where I bought tons of Tommy/Kelly clothes on clearance which now fit my tiny BJD’s. I used to have a collection of Kelly’s and Tommy’s. I had around 200 of them and every single one was different.
I had bought the pregnant midge and the shopping one also with nikki and the grandparents with their house and them separately along with the krissy sets and the toy store playset all for my daughter. I kept most of them when she outgrew it all. We did not get alan. Not sure why. But we loved this line. They never made more grandparents. That is sad. So now they are mine. I found the house at a thrft store and the alan still in box last year. I will have to set it up. The midge was so pretty.
@@pamelot7040 yes, a bottle for the baby to feed itself... (Which goes against my parenting philosophy, but oh well...) They stopped making them because you couldn't clean them properly and they would get full of bacteria.
Not to dump Barbara Lore but Midge & Alan got married in the 90s, there was a giant set of Barbie's characters cast as wedding party members with Barbie herself being the maid of honor. In the 2000s they made the Happy Family line to continue to storyline of Midge & Alan having children after their wedding. The supposed reason they never went the wedding and pregnancy route with Barbie herself is apparently because she's meant to represent a teenager perpetually. She's of course had a ton of wedding dolls but as far as I know they're always called like ✨Dream Wedding✨ or ✨Princess Bride✨ why any of this is controversial idk 😭 also congratulations!!! They're so amazing!
People said Midge represented teenage pregnancy or single motherhood because at first, Alan wasn't portrayed anywhere with Midge. They added a cardboard of him later. It's complete bs, because even if Midge was a single mother, what's the problem with that? Well, I guess the conservatives gotta conservative or something, but it's really too much ://
I think it's just because barbie is the main character so they want her to be static, she's supposed to be anything and everything so that anyone can project onto her and they can drastically alter her from release to release without any issues. The same applies to a lot of main characters in huge franchises. If they made barbie married or have kids there's really no way to go back on that later down the line.
I used to have that Midge doll. I am not sure if you know/remember this, but a feature of the pink crib is that it turns into a changing table just by pulling it all the way down and turning it upside down. This was one of my favourite doll lines, because it was the only one that actually had a wide diversity in age ranging from babies to grandparents. Yes, they actually made grandparents. They even had a house that was essentially "grandma's kitchen". It felt really family-focused and I wish I could have both the entire Happy Families line and it's... sister? sequel? line Happy Neighbourhoods. Sadly both Happy Families and Happy Neighbourhoods are quite expensive (and getting them with all the cardboard pieces is quite hard to find), so I'd say you got really lucky! Congrats! As for Steffi Love, I personally always saw her as sort of a budget Barbie, so I never really liked her. That said her furniture sets were quite nice. If I compare current Steffi Love to current Barbie, then I actually prefer her, because the clothes aren't molded on to Steffi's Kelly-size dolls. Comparing Steffi Love to Barbie is kinda weird tbh, bc while Barbie looks super modern, Steffi Love somehow looks like she's stuck in the late 90's/early 2000's, but not in a bad way. Personally... I think that if I liked her face more, I'd be more into Steffi Love, because I genuinely don't think it's a bad doll line.
I'm not a doll collector but I still have a lot of my dolls from the 90s. The Sailor Moon doll brought back some good memories. My mom bought me the whole set and I still have them to this day. I really should look into my old dolls from the 90s to check on them. Beautiful doll collection you have!
I always find the Midge pregnancy doll so interesting! I got a Steffi doll that was also pregnant but the mechanism works much differently (So the body is actually hollow where the baby fits in and then you click the tummy piece onto it. Then to make it flat again, you twist a part of the body where the tummy area is?) I really loved my Steffi dolls to bits though XD
Omg the baby doctor set was one of my favorites as a kid and I also remember just pretending she was normal medical staff of some kind since my mom was a nurse and she got it for me. I love all the little details. The fact a creative fun toy like that can cause such outrage is crazy to me. Only issue I noticed was all the possible choking hazards lol
im not that big into barbies anymore but i find the happy family line so interesting! i honestly love it and wish i had them. i remember years ago i used to watch this series on youtube based off of them lol. if you ever decide to expand ur happy family collection id love to see
these midge happy family sets are exactly what i grew up with too 😭😭 i lived in new zealand so i think my family from America gave them too me, i loved them SO much
Oh man I was like eight or nine when happy family came out! I had pediatrician Barbie and my friend had Midge, Alan and the kiddos. I think she had the grandparents too. The design of the packaging for this line was peak. I was old enough to appreciate that this line was high quality.
I had a blonde beach skipper I picked up at a thrift store that I took with me everywhere. She had a dress that didn’t belong to her that I have never seen despite the fact that it was a Barbie dress (simple pink short sleeved, long dress, with a gold ribbon under the bust with a B charm). Loved her to death but she sadly got destroyed by paint when my room was being redone when I was like 8. I really want to get her and that dress again if I ever can
My youngest, who is now 20, had all of those dolls...2 different Midge dolls, all the babies, Dr. Barbie, the grandparents, Alan, Ryan, and a bunch of the playsets, and the house. I really wish I'd kept those and her Krissy dolls. Especially now that I collect. I had so much fun helping her set up her house and play scenes.
i have a vague memory of having a pregnant midge doll before my younger sister was born. that one doll was one of the dolls that my sister ruined when she started to walk... like i don't remember a lot about the doll, but i remember all the accessories, and i even remember playing in a very weird way with that baby bed and my Kellys
Speaking of the pregnant Midge; I was just listening to a video of someone I recently subscribed to, and they were talking about an article they read/video from someone who is into video games. Why they put up this article/video I don't know; but they were on a real rant about all the weird Barbie dolls (in their opinion). The UA-camr I was listening to, said he couldn't believe this other person, and where they got all their strange ideas from. They actually mentioned the pregnant Midge, only I think they called her Barbie. They said that this doll was actually terrorizing and couldn't figure out why Mattel would make such a doll! I think some people are sooo touchy and why would a pregnant doll be terrorizing? Kids don't think like adults and I don't feel that those types of dolls would even phase them. It's totally natural and adults need to stop being so uptight. Great dolls Sweetie. Take care :)
You got such great dolls 👍! My faves are the Happy Family 😍 I wanted the entire set like the grandparents & the doctor but I only bought the preggo Midge & Alan sets when they first came out & I kept them in box until my daughter when she was little wanted me to open them so I eventually did 😄 It's so much fun to have our childhood dolls again and I'm looking to rebuy some Barbies too like my 1st ballerina doll which is a hard one to find especially at a good price 🤔
The Steffi doll is very new one. They recently started having diversity. Usually they are all the exact same doll, blond blue eyes, thin brows. Painted in the same way. The hair will vary but just different blonds and lengths. Never textured, rarely brown hair but always straight. I think they did is because it is cheap to mass produce one doll and dress her in different stuff. They are everywhere around in Bulgaria, where I Am form. I get them from time to time to steal their outfits for my Barbies. The clothing is always good! I have playlist about them on my channel.
I wish I could remember even a fraction of my childhood toys! I only remember a small handful and the only doll I really remember having is the Barbie as Rapunzel doll as well as her tower, but it was probably sold in a yard sale a long time ago. I also have the faintest memory of a Bratz doll who was a Yasmin I believe as well as one of the various barbie horses, but not really any specifics. Otherwise, it's like head is empty no thoughts to be found even with the few I kept. I wouldn't be surprised if I had more of the Barbie Princess dolls though because I watched the movies A LOT. Others I remember are: The blue ixi plushie from McDonalds which I got rid of at a yard sale and never stopped thinking about it. (The irony is I got another one in like 2017 at a yard sale with a bunch of other neopets. 2017 was my year for yard sale finds.) Pokemon cards though no memory of any specific ones. A vintage troll doll with a gem on its belly. One of the various playdoh playsets that you put playdoh in, press down and it comes out in long noodle-like strands. Slime. What kind I don't know, but I got it in my hair and to this day I have an aversion to it ha. EDIT: I also remember I have cabbage patch doll or two! I vividly remember being able to pick one from toys r us and then being allowed to pick out clothes for her at yard sales! I am fairly certain I have my first one in storage somewhere because I just adored her.
I stopped displaying my dolls I collected a few years ago and finding your channel has inspired me to start collecting again and put all my bratz on display :)
Congratulations on your Happy Family Lot! I think the G1 MLP nursery shaped like a bottle is the set I’ll probably never get back from childhood but would love to have complete. Oh also the giant G1 MLP palace with the pool.
If there's any childhood doll I wish I had back, it'd be Blair from Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses. I only ever had Blair and Courtney out of them, but if I could only have one back (even though I'd want both), it'd be Blair. Those two went on so many of my doll adventures. I was a bit of a horse girl that also took a few child ballet lessons, so as you can imagine, there was a strong appeal other than her being really pretty. I do sort of regret selling my Swan Lake dolls, I used to have Odette, Siegfried, and the Enchantress, but the little girl who got them at the garage sale was so happy to have them, so I can't be too upset about that, goodness knows I didn't play with mine a ton. There was another I was sad to let go of. I don't remember if it was her given name, but I called her Kayla, and she was a barbie in a pink zookeeper/explorers outfit outfit with dark skin in this choppy low pigtails. She was the best friend to a Barbie that came in a nightgown and fuzzy blue bathrobe that I'd dubbed Princess Rosa, and they fought against the forces of evil together.
I had the whole set in two skin tones. My mom could find the middle skin tone in our local stores. I have the photo album with pictures of my doll collection.
Not a doll but I had an original G1 My Little Pony Bubbles. I remember that my sister and I were tossing her and a Care Bear into a bush and letting them fall through to the bottom. One time the Care Bear returned but Bubbles was never to be seen again.
Stuff like that has an element most dolls and sets are missing now. It's educational for real life things like for instance having babies. This type of toy is how I first learned about baby stuff and even the doctor side of things to a degree of some realism. In concern to the happy family set that's why I feel they make great toys. A great mix of education based in realities and just play.
I always found it so strange that people were fighting over the Midge doll when children are constantly pressed with being parents and stuff like that. At least that was how my childhood went.
Oh god, I'm getting triggered...I'd been looking for a set of dolls bunkbeds I had as a kid that my mum gave away when she lived in Spain...I'd been hunting for about 20 years for them but didn't know the make so was just looking randomly in the dolls section of Ebay...then I found them last year and got so so excited, paid a huge amount to get them shipped. And now they just sit in my doll room...the blind 'need' to get them outweighed any idea in my brain of what I was going to do with them once I got them! 😆 But I did get a doll back that I think was my original one based on where it went missing in the 90s and where the seller was...also, there were some marks on the outfit that I recognised, LOL! It was a Rood Supergirl doll that I'd bought when I was a student...
I had the first few Barbie mermaids in the 90s that I loved and I’m still trying to track a couple down. I found the original mermaid and skipper babysitting the twins and was so happy
...I do have Midge in a other more light rose version...the bow is uon the collar...her hair is more in waves..and the shoes also light rose...onbyour crib is missing the white mobile with figures on it.
I am so happy to see you got the happy family dolls complete and in great shape. So exciting. I love that line. You need the grandparents too. I want to get back my loving you and peaches and cream barbies from the 80s but in box. I just don't want to pay crazy prices for them. I will do it some day. I will find them for what I am willing to pay. I had my mother's barbies from when she was a kid. I decided I wanted to replace them with better cared for dolls. Hers were so played with one the neck started to split. It was is a red head ponytail barbie from the 60s. But I loved it so much. I did find a better shape one. Well that sent me on a mission to collect the fashions from the beginning of barbie. I have never found a new in box doll from 1960 to 1980 so everything has been used. I cleaned them all up. Washed the clothing and all. There is something about those vintage barbies I love. All the zippers and snaps and details. I have a 1969 twist n turn christie. Beautiful doll. My toddler saw her and said mine. I had to tell her gentle she is older than mommy. I love all dolls but vintage barbie is just special to me. The happy family line has a place in my heart too. That and the fairytopia dolls were special memories with my now 21 year old daughter. Plus both lines were so fun and beautiful and detailed. Well I think the dolls that will hold memories with my little one now for me are barbie, rainbow high and monster high. Plus all her baby dolls she loves so much. My 21 year old was a lot like you about dolls as a kid. No babies. My toddler just loves dolls. Almost any doll so more like me. I have loved dolls all my life. But it was trying to find better shape vintage barbie to replace my mother's that kick started my collecting dolls. I have always had a few from as a kid or kept my daughter's when she outgrew them but I significantly added to my dolls in the last 8 years. Some of everything but mostly vintage barbie. It has been fun to see the changes through the years barbie made. The eras are so fun. Not many lines have lasted long enough to see the differences through generations. I have to say monster high may be like barbie in a way. Comparing generations of dolls and characters. I find it funny it is mattel again though.
I had the lovimg family baby. I do have the Midge with child; I just didn't get the rest of family. Lol What are your thoughts on Growing up Skipper doll from the 1970s?
I still have my childhood pregnant Midge doll. Unfortunately I’ll never know if mine was the ring/no ring variant because my dog chewed off her hands 😬
i look back at pictures and realize how many barbies even jazzie and maxie and jem and she-ra dolls i had when i was little and stuffed animals when i was 9 i had a coffee table in my bedroom with a teaset on it some dolls i did not have all at once they would buy me to replace when my brother and his gi-joes would blow them up i got all my little ponys from a lgirl downthe street that was having a yard sale my favorite was sundance i'm still trying to find a sundance i had popples ,evenaapopples pippie bank a wrinkles dog puppet and a pillow people i have some things like i had still looking for some
Idk if you know but The Happy Family set I used to watch on yt haha. I think it was called the happy family show. The quality and creativity of it was so cool as a child. 10/10 a really good doll show. But yeah the rings thing was weird. These a children toys they don’t ring if they have a ring or not. Like be actually Fr. As if the whole population has parents that are married in order to be “perfect”
im not too much of a barbie fan the only barbie i have is the chic barbie i forget what year it’s from but she’s really cute. i would love the midge baby set and the midwife barbie in my collection though. i don’t like kids but i always think nursery toys are adorable and i always love them
I just wish I could find the electric wings to my barbie swan lake doll, I have seen her for sale several times but always without them, and I remember not selling the wings, I put them away for a reason
The little mermaid and her sisters set is nostaligic to me i used to have one of these with ariel and a throne or idk sompting to sit on i still have her could you tell me what brand made them and what are tyey called?
I only had like, a couple barbies as a kid (was more of a littlest pet shop and webkinz kid) BUT my FAVOURITE was the fairytopia kindlee doll, I thought she was SO beautiful and I adored her wing-skirt-mechanism, but for some reason I got rid of her when I was like 12 or something and I've been losing my mind ever since trying to find her again with her wings for a reasonable price RIP She's especially hard to find secondhand in my province ough but someday... someday I'll have her again... SOMEDAY I love the happy family sets, I remember when I was younger I always saw them on like listicles of like "TOP TEN wEirDESt DolLS whooUUUAAAUUUOOH" and it always bothered me because like, it's not really weird at all, it just kind of a sweet and fun set with education value, particularly for kids who are gonna get a new little sibling soon! Plus, and maybe I'm just a sap, but I just think the little tiny fashion doll scaled newborn is SO cute like bro....... its the miracle of life JRFKDSHjdsdfds
I had the happy family dolls my nana said something about the doll not having a wedding ring for me i never really noticed And didn't even care. it was a big deal at the time. If they did something like this now people would be okay with it
I had the entire Happy Family Line the house the baby store the van the kids' friends midge's other clothes there was one outfit that had jeans and a matching denim sling to carry the baby in literally everything I had it and they were my most favorite barbies of all time I still had everything when I got rid of them when I was 16 (in 2016) my family needed money bad so i sold all of my dolls & their stuff and i had everything since my childhood I had my moms barbies from the 80s & 90s and then my barbies from like 2000-2012 in a big bin i had myscenes & everything and I've regretted it since the day they left my mom always made sure I kept all my barbie stuff together and in good condition and I appreciated it so much when i was older and wasn't missing anything that went to my dolls I should've kept it all 😭
I am doing a horrible job re building my childhood collection, I was able to get some of my 90s barbies in box but, looking for Movie star Teresa, the one with the blue dress, is just impossible to find complete. Also why 2000s midge and Teresa had such big foreheads!? Barbara sabottaged them haha
"I don`t wear my Ring ever, ... ) 12:38 You are Married? I have been watching you on and off FOR YEARS now and thats the first time i`m hearing this. Hope i`m not weird, just curious. Love you
i had this doll from an american muslim company called razanne and she has been purely impossible to find even messaged the company sound vision who is still in business but they don't make fashion dolls anymore :/ i had the prayer set but she was cute she had a teacher set and girl scout leader
I have several recalled barbies skipper grew breaststroke and hair by pumping her arm Becky school photographer was recalled for not fitting in the dream house elevator and of course pregnant midge.
I started watching this hoping for a freaking fairytopia doll and the first thing you said when you got to the 2000s is I still have my fairytopia dolls 🫶🙌 THANK YOU

I’m glad you got the Midge set.
It’s extremely expensive at Antique stores.
Common but priced at over $100 in box
I just saw these in an antique mall last month! They had Midge, Alan and the doctor, all in box, $100 each.

Haha I had no idea until later when I tried to ID my dolls and a bunch of them were way older than they should have been for my age ahaha
Such flash backs! I didn't even remember the purple and white dresser with the babies on it until I saw it.
I love this haul! Living vicariously through you.

She was the best friend to a Barbie that came in a nightgown and fuzzy blue bathrobe that I'd dubbed Princess Rosa, and they fought against the forces of evil together.
the baby accessories are so adorable
Awesome, that was definitely Steffi Love. I recently got AA & Latina versions myself.
In reference to your question in my case it would be Day to night Barbie... i loved her and i miss her...
I love your shirt!
I’m a simple person, I see Taylor Swift and I click immediately 😂
I had the first few Barbie mermaids in the 90s that I loved and I’m still trying to track a couple down. I found the original mermaid and skipper babysitting the twins and was so happy
...I do have Midge in a other more light rose version...the bow is uon the collar...her hair is more in waves..and the shoes also light rose...onbyour crib is missing the white mobile with figures on it.
such a great haul!
I regret giving away my Skipper Boat and Bionic Woman! Also my Charlie's Angles.
Lol
What are your thoughts on Growing up Skipper doll from the 1970s?
my ultimate pipe dream is to own all the taylor swift dolls, i have four so far and realistically i will probably not end up with many more lmao
I still have my childhood pregnant Midge doll. Unfortunately I’ll never know if mine was the ring/no ring variant because my dog chewed off her hands 😬
i look back at pictures and realize how many barbies even jazzie and maxie and jem and she-ra dolls i had when i was little and stuffed animals when i was 9 i had a coffee table in my bedroom with a teaset on it some dolls i did not have all at once they would buy me to replace when my brother and his gi-joes would blow them up i got all my little ponys from a lgirl downthe street that was having a yard sale my favorite was sundance i'm still trying to find a sundance i had popples ,evenaapopples pippie bank a wrinkles dog puppet and a pillow people i have some things like i had still looking for some
Oooh, I had this Sailor Moon! Every day is me regretting a doll I donated/sold hahaha
the 2008 garage sale tale needs to be in history books
I left out the part about how I cut some of the dolls’ hair and my mom was serious when she said she’d take them away if I did it 😭😭😭
Idk if you know but The Happy Family set I used to watch on yt haha.
Wow I love it so ooo much 🥰😍 & I love all your vid
im not too much of a barbie fan the only barbie i have is the chic barbie i forget what year it’s from but she’s really cute. i would love the midge baby set and the midwife barbie in my collection though. i don’t like kids but i always think nursery toys are adorable and i always love them
she’s the 1996 one
I just wish I could find the electric wings to my barbie swan lake doll, I have seen her for sale several times but always without them, and I remember not selling the wings, I put them away for a reason
I still have the happy family set lol never could part with it there are grand parents too but only have grandma and I lost her clothes lol 🤷🏻♀️
Lmao Taylor Swift Dolls. I remember Canadian Tire had them back in the day 😅
Slay!🎉
SOMEDAY
I love the happy family sets, I remember when I was younger I always saw them on like listicles of like "TOP TEN wEirDESt DolLS whooUUUAAAUUUOOH" and it always bothered me because like, it's not really weird at all, it just kind of a sweet and fun set with education value, particularly for kids who are gonna get a new little sibling soon! Plus, and maybe I'm just a sap, but I just think the little tiny fashion doll scaled newborn is SO cute like bro....... its the miracle of life JRFKDSHjdsdfds
As an European person I didn’t like steffy love 😭 she didn’t hit the same as barbie but the hello Kitty steffy collab was very cute
I had the happy family dolls my nana said something about the doll not having a wedding ring for me i never really noticed And didn't even care. it was a big deal at the time. If they did something like this now people would be okay with it
That was great video
I had that doctor Barbie as a kid 😍
what name of websites that you bought all of them?
I had the entire Happy Family Line the house the baby store the van the kids' friends midge's other clothes there was one outfit that had jeans and a matching denim sling to carry the baby in literally everything I had it and they were my most favorite barbies of all time I still had everything when I got rid of them when I was 16 (in 2016) my family needed money bad so i sold all of my dolls & their stuff and i had everything since my childhood I had my moms barbies from the 80s & 90s and then my barbies from like 2000-2012 in a big bin i had myscenes & everything and I've regretted it since the day they left my mom always made sure I kept all my barbie stuff together and in good condition and I appreciated it so much when i was older and wasn't missing anything that went to my dolls I should've kept it all 😭
Midge got the big forehead from her face sculpt predecessor, Diva, from Barbie and The Rockers.
I'm pretty sure that Lps key chain holds a water bottle, I could be wrong though.
I was a small baby 😭 I weighed 5 pounds 9 ounces when I was born 😗
I want the pregnant Barbie with her family!
They recalled her more because she looked too young and it did not have a ring.
"I don`t wear my Ring ever, ... ) 12:38 You are Married? I have been watching you on and off FOR YEARS now and thats the first time i`m hearing this. Hope i`m not weird, just curious. Love you
Complicated haha- I didn’t even think about how that would confuse y’all! No we didn’t get married yet. Hopefully soon we get legally married
@@xCanadensis And here i was worrying about being a fake Fan... anyway. Congrats💜
Sorry about that!! It’s an annoying family circumstance barring it so I just ignore it and pretend we are lol. We have plans soon though
@@xCanadensis No Apology needed. You do You. Again... Congrats
i had this doll from an american muslim company called razanne and she has been purely impossible to find even messaged the company sound vision who is still in business but they don't make fashion dolls anymore :/ i had the prayer set but she was cute she had a teacher set and girl scout leader
I have several recalled barbies skipper grew breaststroke and hair by pumping her arm Becky school photographer was recalled for not fitting in the dream house elevator and of course pregnant midge.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had the pregnant doll as a child
Hi Dolls 👋
Hey xCanadensis would you review Hamilton Candi dolls and Mikelimen Candi doll and the playline Integrity toys dolls from the 90s and the 2000s
That is f*****g ridiculous that a doll would need a wedding ring. People need to get a life - seriously.
Super random, but if you were to ever have children, would you let them play with your dolls and stuff lol?
Yes. They’re toys and were made to be played with so as long as I taught them how to care for things I would have no concern
What Brooke your married
I started watching this hoping for a freaking fairytopia doll and the first thing you said when you got to the 2000s is I still have my fairytopia dolls 🫶🙌 THANK YOU
