    I have a flight from Houston to Amsterdam and then connecting to go to Glasgow with only 50 minute layover, I hope that is enough time. I am watching videos like this to give me an idea what to do to be quick. Luckily I can walk pretty fast but nervous!

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  2 роки тому +1

      Normally, 50 minutes will be enough. As you see in the video, you will have to go through security and passport control. At some hours, there can be crowded in the passport control, if that happen to you, and you running late, just contact the ground staff, show them your boarding pass, and tell them you are running late for your flight, they will then, if you are short of time, let you jump the queue. So have that in mind if you runs out of time.

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  2 роки тому +3

      Sorry, wrong information, you will not have to go through the passport control. Scotland is not a member of Schengen area. So you will only have to go through the security control. So that will save you some time on the transit.

      Security on arrival depends on the origin of the flight. Pier E, F and G (all non-schengen only) have a double floor design for arrivals from "unsafe" countries where the screening level is not verified to be up to EU standards. That's why in this video you see no actual departure gates or shops during the walk and get funneled through security. If you are from a "safe" country, and I believe the US is, you should be entering the lower floor of the pier where you could theoretically take a connecting flight on the same pier right away.

    Thanks for sharing! Very informative .. I am travelling to Amsterdam next month and I am wondering if US/Canadian citizens can use automated immigration control eGates when they exit the Netherlands (or other EU country) to non-EU country (like flying back to the US). I see conflicting info on whether US/Canadian citizens can use automated immigration control eGates from certain EU countries. Thanks.

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  2 роки тому +3

      Yes, when crossing Schengen to Non-Schengen or opposite, you will have to go trough the passport control. But when you going from Schengen to Non-Schengen there is no security control, only passport control.

    Hi, I am flying from Washington, DC to Porto with a layover of about 1.5 hrs in Amsterdam. This video was super helpful given I am tight on time with my layover. Just to confirm, once I am in Amsterdam I will have to go through passport control and security correct? Thanks so much!

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  Рік тому +2

      Hi, yes, that is correct. You will have to go through the security and passport control. My latest reports says it has not been crowded inside the airport, and almost no queue at all. Remember, if you running late, just tell the ground staff and they will let you jump the queue in the passport control, but they will normally check your boarding pass to see if actually running late :)

    Hi there - we are flying to europe this summer with a connecting flight in amsterdam with a 4 hour lay over - did they require a digital covid card or did the paper copy do? did they even ask to see it?

    • @JustinThailand
      @JustinThailand  2 роки тому

      Covid requirements is determined by the country of your arrival. If there are some covid restrictions, you will normally have to deal with this during your check in. There might be some document check at the boarding gate of your transit. I would, to be sure, print out a paper copy, since this can vary a lot depending on the staff checking your documents.

      Hey you :) First, you have a lot of time to do the transit, that's good :) So, since you are coming in from India, and traveling to USA, you will do the transit inside the Non-Schengen Area of the airport. So you will only have to go through the security control. You don't need any transit visa as long as you stay inside the Non-Schengen Area. If I understand this correct; You will do a transit in Schiphol, Amsterdam from Rome, Italy, and then depart for Bogota, Colombia. If you arrive from Italy, you are inside the Schengen area, and will have to go through passport control when going to the Non-Schengen area.
