    Love the videos. You are giving yourself the best chance to make money running older kit. No big repayments. I’m in the west of Ireland. 25 years ago our contractor baled with a 399. I know farmers with 1/4 of the land and bales you have and they have brand new 200+ hp tractors baling. No need for it. And the 399 is probably more reliable. I loved the video of the 390T on the 2250 tank! If you were seen doing that around here you’d probably get arrested😄 how do you manage with narrow and almost bald tyres on all your tractors?😄keep up the good work and more tractor walk around please👍

      Thanks Darren! That’s exactly it we don’t have any big monthly payments going out on fancy new equipment! And yeah tbh I don’t know how long it’ll be until the 390T gets some fresh boots hopefully not too long but its rarely noticeable as it still performs well especially on the 2250 tanker!

    Gone back to baled silage this year after about 6 years mostly pit silage. Changed our baler and wrapper for a fusion 2 last year which has made doing them ourselves again a lot more doable
    Pit is awful handy to feed out from but like you said it’s a big bill every year to put it in a pit

    • @farmerwillmellor510
      @farmerwillmellor510  Місяць тому

      Bet you soon get it done with a Fusion! And yes I see all these with out silage and I’m definitely sure they get more waste than we do with bales!

      Thankyou Paul! We do most of it ourselves and rarely need to extra help in tbf because it we’ve got our system set up just right it works really well for us

    Aye, I think I remember Geoff Eyre being on tv with his invention wow, it was years ago estimate late 80's early 90's🤔 it was either tomorrow's world or northwest tonight I think . I remember my dad saying what a good idea it was when he was demonstrating how it worked!
    Thanks for the video Will, I've been wondering how your bale operation worked!

      Thanks! Yes my dad has talked before about Geoff being on tv before, pretty sure he also made a prototype non-stop round baler in the early 90’s think they’re a photo somewhere on the internet of it behind his snoopy nose Massey 3065🤔 if I can find it I’ll make a walk around traileyre video and pop in that👍

    Good video Will an congratulations on getting over 3000 bales for 1st cut 👌 never seen a bale trailer like that before fabulous piece of kit well built and very simple to operate 💪💪👍

      Thanks Bob! They were quite common round here at one time as they were originally designed and built just a stone throw away from here but times have changed and baler/wrapper combinations have token over and these types of bale handlers have become obsolete

      He doesn’t make them anymore he sold the design to Ritchie who toke over production of them but I think they’ve since stopped producing them

    Have you a link to that bale carrier manufacturer Website

    • @farmerwillmellor510
      @farmerwillmellor510  Місяць тому

      Hi I’ve tried looking for them on the Ritchie website but it seems they don’t make them anymore but if you google “Ritchie Traileyre” you’ll find some examples thanks

    Do you chop all your silage bales ?

    • @farmerwillmellor510
      @farmerwillmellor510  Місяць тому +1

      Not all of them, we try too but as the crop gets heavier the tractor struggles to power the chopper to chop a heavier crop

      In the better earlier stuff we made yes there is and there’s still time left to make some better silage

    What weight do you reckon them bales are

    • @farmerwillmellor510
      @farmerwillmellor510  Місяць тому

      Never weigh them so hard to say precisely but I’d estimate 600-800kg

  • @johndaniell887
    @johndaniell887 Місяць тому +2

    why have you only stacking them twe high get them 4 high atleast takes up les room on the ground

    • @farmerwillmellor510
      @farmerwillmellor510  Місяць тому

      They’re all stacked 3 high we never stack 2 high….we can’t stack more than 3 high as our loader tractors can’t reach
