    - I am not just complaining. I am going to see that the system changes. It may take time and more people but I believe that it will change. I appreciate and respect every teacher who is giving his 100% to help the students.
    Dear students,
Instead of becoming intolerant towards a religion, try becoming intolerant to bad teaching in the colleges. Make sure that all the colleges do the justice to the fees that you are paying.
Dear Faculty and the management of the colleges,
If you really think that it is the student's responsibility to search for various resources to learn, then why should they be paying for colleges? Why should they attend the classes? I am not talking about the things that are not in the curriculum. If you still feel that students should read only the books to gain the knowledge, then please make it an open university and do not force students to come to the college to get the degree. They will learn from books and good teachers somewhere else without wasting their time in the college.

The truth has been spoken! you are the voice of all the engineering students in India! I have applied for you GATE lectures and have been watching your videos for 6 months..and trust me all the engineering knowledge I gained in these months are just because of you.. diploma and degree were a waste of time and energy! EVERY ENGINEERING STUDENT WOULD AGREE TO EVERY WORD YOU SAID IN THIS VIDEO! You are our big brother guiding us! Love you sir!

Okay! First thing, I think there is hardly someone out there who would spend around 80-90k per year just to enjoy 4 years of college life. Second about the passion of some students, passion and scoring marks are two different thing. However passionate you are about any subject, that doesnt mean you will score 90% in every exams. And about the faculty guiding the students, thats what this video is all about, the faculty(sometimes) today, in most cases, do not have that ability to guide their students well. Thats the reason most students are very nearly failing in their careers.

The engineering college management should make sure that all the professors in their college are good GATE rankers. They should make them write GATE once in every 3 years. Like driving license, there should be a teaching license, which is given only after clearing GATE or some other exam for selection for teachers.

    Dear Ravi,
I myself being a faculty of NIT, supports your observations. It is an eye opener to many including me. Here, I want to add the fact that, mostly teaching load comes even less than 10% of the duty of any faculty here. All are busy with administrative charges, clerical works, research etc. Faculties are counted for their research and not for teaching.
Research is in line with the concept of continuous learning. It really gives confidence to the faculties. But it should go hand in hand with teaching.

I agree and it's not just a problem with the Indian education system. The same problem exists in the U.S. There are way too many professors who are forced to teach who have no experience teaching and no interest in teaching. They are not qualified teachers and they stick to it because they get money and have little to no consequences for bad teaching due to tenure. Education system has turned more into a machine that is concerned with making money rather than producing the best engineers, scientists, etc. My success is entirely due to the work and studying I have done myself and not from the resources (or lack-thereof) provided by my university. My university has only given me a paper degree as a validation for me to get jobs.

    • @AmarVashishth
      @AmarVashishth 8 років тому +43

      +Cherry Pauper
there is more problem to it:
a 3rd class chairman recruits 4th class HODs
a 4th class HOD recruits 5th class Teachers
a 5th class teacher delivers 6th class education to students.
(this is all to keep things under control)
Also, in India only a Trust(organization) can provide educational services on non-profit promise, College/Schools cannot be a commercial entity as per laws, due to corruption these laws are severely violated.
Delhi government has acknowledged this fact too. They have proposed(implemented? idk) laws which conveys that no money earned from the students of the school/college could be spent outside it; Violating which will be justified with punishments.
MOOCs and more of online learning/collaborating platforms have been a humongous and only easy help.
      Thank you computer science!

i am also a engineering college teacher (before college teacher i m running my coaching classes). when i join college i feel that i m not teaching as good as before reason behind this there are lot of constraint in teaching (in college) time constraint, resources constraint, result constraint, senior instruction constraint, extra other college clerical work ... etc.
that why a faculty not teach as good as they want.
i agree your each and every point..

India has way too much population and it keeps on growing exponentially, which in turn, considerably decreases the living standards of the citizens. Simply, there aren't enough resources for such a huge population. At such rates of population growth, we'll be run out of residential space, and would be living on top of one anothers' head, literally. Why there are so many private colleges (especially engineering colleges) rapidly popping up here in India? Simple, because there aren't enough seats in the Government colleges. Education has become one of the major business sector in India, and its quality has worsened. All we have nowadays is a system of "memorization and vomitting out the contents in exams".
For those who idolize the IITians : If those IITians are actually so brilliant, then why India still needs to purchase the "S-400 Truimf" advanced anti-aircraft/missile defence systems WORTH Rs.40,000 CRORE, from Russia? And the Sukhoi Su-30MKIs and MiG-29Ks, used by our military are also Russian tech. Yes, the Mangalyan mission was successful, but tell me how many engineers from IITs were involved in that project?
Even the ".in" top level domain is owned by the US, and is based on their servers, and they can block it whenever they want.
Lastly, "REDUCE POPULATION FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW,
DITCH TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS, BE LOGICAL".

    Sir,
I literally got goosebumps listening to you. All the things you said, from the very first word to the last, is actually true. I was the victim of this education system back in India, however, after my sophomore year, I planned to transfer to US, and the difference is in front of my eyes. I am a Computer Science major, and loved the way you pointed out Data Structures; in India they send noobs to teach such a crucial subject. Even the faculties who are teaching it, doesn't actually know how important the subject is. I think this video should be aired on national television. The three categories you mentioned ( faculty, Hod , Chairman) should certainly do their bits to make the education system better and to acknowledge academic integrity. It's not a money making business, and people need to understand this.

Yes I agreed with Ravindra sir's thought that Indian education system collapse but the solution that he proposed doesn't work especially in engineering colleges because the ego of faculty is very high and they never admit that they are not knowledgeable enough to teach students. I think here Govt. can do one thing that they organized an Exam like GATE or IIT-JEE type for those who want to teach in private or govt. school and qualifying this exam is compulsory for all. The level of exam is such that only one who have depth knowledge of subject can qualify that exam. By doing this we can at least get rid of unqualified teachers and since number of qualified teachers are less, so there salary should also be high.

THANK YOU for this Nobel work. Every point you made, is 99.99% TRUE in not only my but also in all other engineering institutions as well. I went through same frustration but at least I survived this EDUCATION CANCER although I bantered that with the most precious thing 'TIME' which I could have actually tried INVESTING rather than just WASTING in becoming truly an Engineering in a college.
But my point is NOT everyone is so lucky. Some of the students are so unfortunate that they DON'T even realize what's wrong with their unfathomable potential suppressed due to this CANCER.
I too agree to all the solutions you gave to the teachers, HODs, and Chairmans; I believe this will change with radiating sensible awareness and outspoken as well as firm actions just like this.

Don't bother by this bad education system. I can understand your mentality as a student. You are a bright student & have potential to achieve your dreams! But work hard & believe in yourself, dreams you will definitely will get there, don't give such imp to such bad education system to control your dreams, aims! You have lots of to achieve, also don't take seriously the negative opinions of people around you!
Work hard for your dreams, believe in ur self & you will definitely will reach there where you want to be!👍

I have first time seen such a brutal and straight forward statement to the system.
Sir I also think the problem is that education specially at college level for the sake of degree's has mostly just become a Business.
The fees is not for learning but only for the degree that you get at the end.
I think every single teacher appointed at any college in the country should first go through an interview with the brightest minds of the country and then there should also be a training process of teaching the selected ones how to teach.
We can be intelligent and we might also know our subjects well but doesn't always mean we can teach well.

In my 10th class I got 9.8 GPA. But I totally failed in BTech. I have so much interest to learn new things from the lecturers but that doesn't happened anywhere. I have a big dreams to achieve, but I totally failed to achieve the dreams because of joining in that college. Going to college is waste of time now a days. I lost my interest on academics. Lecturers in our college are worst, ask please explain clearly they will said "learning by doing". what the fuck....how much we can learn by our own? In my b tech I got 70 percentage by only bihotting. I could not learn anything 😭😭😭.

A major revolution of some kind is needed, to counter this problem. As of now, I can just hope that true and selfless people like you continue to grow in numbers who will inspire us and we, do everything possible to learn more and apply positive changes to the society so that the next generation is again, not a copy+paste of what is happening now. Thank you for speaking sir you have really understood the reality of the present education system I wish there was at least one person like you in the college where I am studying now. The truth is unless you are from IIT's nobody gives a damn everyone are self centred including some of the teachers. I am in second year now and the reason I am going to college is for the sake of attendance I have not learnt anything productive since a year and half. And some teachers do have some attitude problems (not being mean). I am not blaming everything on teachers but they need to understand that an average student like me is only capable of passing and scoring up to certain level beyond that they certainly need help. Almost every teacher that teaches us expects us to be God's and literally knows everything from birth. I am defenetly going to share this video sir thanks a lot again.

I agree with the points made by the guy in this video. The big problem is that the people in India who become teachers think it is a last resort. It's the last option left for them to choose if they don't get any other job so they go for it. They do their work with total disinterest and do not care if the students learn anything. They want to give their lecturers and pick up their salaries at the end of the month without any commitment or regard for the student's needs

All they do is teach from the text and expect high standards; nothing else. The second case is that I have had teachers despite their high level of knowledge, they have huge personality issues. Those people should not belongs in schools or in academia whatsoever.

Yes i agree teachers need to be changed and updated according to the modern student mindset by incorporating the new teaching techniques and help them understand the subject with more practical approach than the boring theory based. Teaching should be more practical and activity based so that everyone gets involved in it and helps in inducing the learning seeds in them.. We already have lots of engineering colleges and profressors, but its time to get the quality instead of quantity. All the Engineering colleges which are not having certain standards needs to be cut down...
