found my own beautiful 70s italian leather jacket at a flea market for $30. full of older folks just trying to make some money from their items. definitely recommend visiting flea markets if you get the chance!
Half-sizing! Thank you. If I ever see that now I will know to try it on. Being short and all the proportions being off on all of my clothes is an everlasting frustration!
excited about ur book. Go you! How do you deal w/ the stench? Thrift shops always smell so moldy to me. I used to thrift a lot in my 20s, but then I somehow got bedbugs from something that I purchased & had to pay so much money to get everything sprayed. So I haven't really done much since (in my 40s now). There have been at least 2-3 posts about 2 thrift shops local to me where ppl have picked up bed bugs from purchases.
try wearing a face mask or respirator when you’re in the thrift store, and make sure to give it a good wash when you get home. use scented laundry detergent or fabric softener if you want a stronger more pleasant smell!
Seconding the face mask recommendation. If you get a cloth one with a pocket-style liner I like putting in a dry peppermint tea bag to overpower any unpleasant smells. For bedbugs, sticking an item in the freezer for 80 hours (a little less than 3 ½ days) should kill them. They won't survive that period in temperatures under 3.2°F, and freezers are supposed to be set to 0°F, though you might want to double-check yours with a thermometer to make sure. For smells, I personally have yet to find any stench that can outlast two soaks in diluted white vinegar and two washes with Clorox Odor Blasters booster. I usually pour a glug of vinegar straight into the washing machine before tossing in the detergent, but you can't do that too often because you'll risk damaging the rubber parts of the machine. A diluted vinegar soak (add maybe a cup of vinegar before filling the rest of the basin with water) before a regular wash is typically safer for your machine and often more effective. Some people swear by baking soda, but don't combine it with vinegar or they'll react to each other and you'll lose the benefits of both. Some people like spraying clothes with a solution of half water, half vodka to get rid of smells, but I personally haven't tried that so I can't speak from experience. It seems to be favored by theatre costumers who can't easily launder the clothes they're working with. Hope this helps, and happy thrifting!
Thank you!! I love vintage and my youth group at my church is doing a thrifting day where we shop at thrift stores and dress up! This will help a lot! I love your videos and outfits! Can you do more videos on how to do 20s-50s hair if you are able?💝💖
Is anyone else looking forward to the _next_ video in this series: How to make vintage clothes look modern? (It's aimed at people who want to appear fashionable, but who are unwilling to purchase new clothing.)

Church basement op shops are always absolutely gold, same as the ones in small country towns.
You’re speaking my language! 😎

I live in England UK how do i go about it ?
Goodwills in Fargo/Moorhead are horrible! Expensive and filled with Shein/Temu crap. Small town thrift stores are much better.
First❤❤❤❤
Welcome!
You remind me of Taylor Lorenz
