Syd Barrett was the original guitarist in Pink Floyd. The song "Shine On Your Crazy Diamond" is about him. He was schizophrenic and took lots of LSD. Originally the band name was Tea Set. They went to play a gig and the band they were opening for was called Tee Set. So on the fly Syd Barrett renamed the band "The Pink Floyd Sound" after two Piedmont bluesmen, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.
Roger Waters recorded two complete demo's playing all instruments and singing, then asked the band which one they wanted to do. They chose The Wall. I have both of those demo recordings. The live performance of The Wall there were two complete bands. That's how they were able to play in a hole in the wall (the alternate band), the lights dimmed then came back up and they were on top of the wall (the real Pink Floyd).
I wonder if Tara has ever heard the album by Marvin Gaye and Pink Floyd. Marvin Gaye's people wouldn't let it be released, so it was never sold. But I have it.

I'm a Pink Floyd fan also Tara and you did pretty good! Syd Barret was the founder and lead guitarist / vocalist before David Gilmour joined up. Interstellar Overdrive 1st song side 2 is the instrumental only remember that from my childhood lol! and 1982 is when The Wall came out in the theaters because I seen it in March of 83 when I stationed in Fort Belvoir VA.
Of course dogs, pigs and sheep were right and the cow on the cover were right. The rest I dunno...

Pink Floyd released their first album before David Gilmore joined. Syd played lead guitar and sang lead vocals. He was _good_ but he was a bit mental. Roger on bass, Richard Wright on keybards and Nick on the drums. I think it was in 1967. I was in elementary school. I know Richard's granddaughter and I've worked with her.
Um. "Pow R. Toc H." was the instrumental from the first album.
The Wall (movie) came out when the World's Fair was in Knoxville in 1982. I remember that.
