Nice dear
Thank you 😊
Hi B! I think that you are the first gardener that thought about their guests first. My wife is handicapped and so I try to plant in raised containers so that she can plant, harvest and enjoy just as much as I can. I am so glad I stumbled onto your channel...I'm hooked. Cheers from Down Under!
Hi Craig! Thanks for visiting my channel. I often want to cover ever square inch with plants and flowers but I also want to share my space with others and I absolutely want them to be comfortable and be able to move about without worry. It’s so awesome to hear that you and your wife can share in the joy gardening! Be well!
Wow Craig, this post made me cry. I’m dealing with a spine injury (it’s going to be ok, just difficult) and your sweet kindness towards your wife made me cry happy tears. My husband is wonderful too and it just warms my heart to see your love and consideration for yours. ❤️🌱
Very nice
Thanks!
Beautiful garden
Thanks so much! ~Batavia
Well done
Thanks!
I love it ❤️
💚💚thanks!
Awesome 😎🙏🏿
Thanks 🤗
Sis you doing are very awesome job
Thanks Sis!
Excellent!!!
Thank you!
Love to see this! SUBSCRIBED!
Many thanks!
Love this video. Thank you!
Thanks Belinda!
I do all my root plants in extra large grow bags. The potatoes really love them, great drainage, great airflow. This year I am also trying garlic and onions in grow bags. Also like to mention I am on my third summer using the same grown bags
🙌🏽 on using the bags multiple years! If you remember, I'd love to hear how the garlic does. I've tried two years and I think the bags get too wet in Chicago's winter causing the cloves to rot. 😌
Kale, collards, lettuce, etc don't require pollinators, so I cover mine in tulle. No leaf damage.
Same here with the tulle. I was experimenting last year to see how well some of those veggies do without covering.. No really, the veggie that was uncovered and had the least damage was curly kale and my lettuce always does well uncovered. But the rest..oh me oh my…luckily there were veggies in raised beds that were covered with tulle fabric.
I use 18, 20 & 30 gallon storage totes, five gallon buckets and half plastic drums for my gardening. I have contaminated soil, so I don't grow anything in the ground. Storage totes are awesome. They grow lots of veggies 🥬🥒🥦🥕🍅🫑🍆🧄, potatoes 🥔, sweet potatoes 🍠 and flowers 🌺💮🏵️🌼 for pollination.
Hi Donna! We are so resourceful! I’m a huge fan of container gardening and using non traditional containers. Happy growing!
@@BBettaGarden I have been watching Sun Garden, TEO Garden and DIY Garden Ideas. They recycle everything! Such great ideas. With my contaminated ground I have to think outside the box. Happy gardening.
Are the big totes ok for planting? Thought they had to be food grade
@@1John5-13-Lisa I would also like to know this
@@rubylace9963 this summer here in Ontario Canada, I used dollar store fabric bags, fabric grocery bags, laundry baskets lined with a garbage bag for potatoes, learning this , after spending a fortune on growing bags on Amazon! I had a great crop!!! I poked holes on bottom of bag, prob didn’t have to as it’s fabric, but just to be safe
This is amazing. Thank you
My pleasure!
Awesome, you are an inspiration.
Thank you so much!
Thank you …from Canada
Well hey there! Thanks for visiting my page!
I want my garden to look like yours when it grows up! Just now beginning w a container garden, as my backyard is too rocky for in-ground planting. Such a good view of what I’m aiming for! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
I’m a big fan of container gardening! So many possibilities ☺️
We just started container gardening this year.Thank you for ur content.
It’s my pleasure and I hope you had a great year!
talking about green thumb. everything look so nice and fresh, well taken care of. I have veggies growing in my backyard also. did good last few yrs. i'm proud of myself. i love that it take me away to my own space and time. loving my backyard and relaxing is everyrhing Good luck to you. yes i live in chicago also. enjoy
Heya Chicago neighbor! It so easy to get lost in the garden, I just love it. Great success to you this growing season!
Beautiful setup. Your voice is very pleasant. Thank you for the detailed tour. I'm envious of all your projects. Growbags atop crates is brilliant!
Thanks so much! After all the years of hearing my voice on videos, voicemails, it’s still hard to listen to my voice so this is an especially great compliment 🙂🙂.
Your garden is beautiful and inspiring! I live in Chicago as well, and only have a small space because I lease, and started a container garden last year, and the year prior.
Heya Chicago neighbor! Thanks for checking out my video. And there are sooo many possibilities with containers.
Really clean and organised garden. I'm really inspired to start gardening. Thanks
Thanks so much!
I like you already. I have locs and this is my first year container gardening. Thank you so sharing. GOD has truly blessed your hands
Hey now! Locs were the best decision I made for my hair. Wishing you the best with your container garden. Blessings! ~Batavia
I'm always impressed by how tidy and well organised your gardening is, a great way to keep on top of it all 😊
Thanks so much Carolina! I'm off this morning with my coffee to see if I can tidy up a bit :-)
NEW SUB! Super excited 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Nice garden, nice work. I do containers too, have about 80 right now. For your small row of rectangle pots make a small platform, maybe using 2 x 4s. Put four wheels on it. Now you can move it around , out of your way. Have a good harvest!
Thanks for the tip! I was just hauling them around by hand :-). I'll add this to my try it list . Have a great growing season!
Be sure to plant some red, purple (blue), & yellow flowers that are perennial. In NC mine bloom mid-June. This attracts honey bees, butterflies, and bumble bees. They need a little shallow cup of water. This gets your peas, beans, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers pollinated. That means more beans and most vegetables. Bees have gotten thin here because more highways have killed all the plants once there. Your garden is so beautiful and neat.
Thanks for the tips Janice!
Omg I thought I was the only one who had a lot of container. 😅 You have a lot of containers 😍 You inspire me to get more containers. Your garden is beautiful!!
Ha! You are not alone. Let us rejoice in our love for containers 😁😁
Amazing how you maximized your space!! Very encouraging!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Hi Doris! Thanks so much! I really try each year, and it’s so encouraging to me to know I can be helpful to others as they set out in their gardens!
Thank you for motivating us to literally grow our own vegetables, strawberries, and maybe ginger.
This makes me the happiest! So happy to motivate others! 💚
I love your setup 😍 Your garden is amazing and productive👍🏾
Thank you!!
I'm also in Chicago. I would love to see your garden.
Thank you! I hope to have a space in the future that I can open up to the public 😊.
In The Carolinas they use red and green or white cabbage, Cauliflower around the edges of their sidewalks like flower bed. Trust me it’s beautiful. They also make wreaths to put on their doors and they’re made of nothing but fruit fresh fruit nothing plastic.
Growing up so broke in Michigan we had to walk around and find food when we saw this in the Carolinas we were tearing those peoples doors up trust me we had every fruit that day lol
I was just talking to a garden friend about how people use cabbage as decorations around their yards. It’s always hard for me to imagine growing food that you don’t plan to eat 🙂. Thanks for watching and commenting/sharing!💚~ Batavia
I love what you’ve done! Can’t wait to see it thrive this season!
Thanks! I’m super excited about this season!
WAOH! IT ALL LOOKS SO PRETTY!
SO ORGANIZED!

Heya Lemmy! Thanks for checking my channel out. ~ Batavia
It feels nice to have someone close to me, I’m in the south suburbs of Chicago and I’m trying to start a garden. I’m glad I found your video to help me along. I have 10 plants to start off so far and I’m scared 😱
Hey neighbor :-)! I'm wishing you a wonderful growing season!! For what it's worth, I have had (and continue to) my share of fails so don't beat yourself up if everything doesn't flourish. And to that end, celebrate every win! 🙂
Love it! Thanks for the hard work and amazing content!
💚thank you!
Very impressive - the organization, plant health, & functional arrangement you've developed! You now have an IN Zone 5b subscriber! Beautiful!
Many thanks! And I basically claim everyone in the Midwest as a neighbor but IN is right next door 😁😁 (I’m in Chicago). Take care!

Absolutely gorgeous and encouraging as my space is limited 👏🏾👏🏾🌹
You can absolutely do it Sue! Thanks for watching and commenting! ~Batavia
Beautiful garden!
Many thanks!
Your garden is beautiful sis! Thanks for the tour, those kales are beautiful
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Take care Sis!
Your garden looks awesome! I started using the 18-gallon storage totes from Walmart as containers and set them up on bricks. They're food safe #5. So far, they're working out great.
Gardeners are absolutely resourceful!!
Wow...i just went and bought Mulch....not no mo 😂....im fenna use dry leaves from now on...trees all around me...gonna trim some asap to dry...i always learn something here...thank u!......1❤.....1
It's definitely my * new * favorite mulch 😊😊
Great job on the container garden! Now I know how to protect my kale, those little pests come every year! You have a beautiful smile and every time you say "okeydoke" it makes me giggle, maybe because I'm in northern Canada and never heard that expression before. Anyways cheers and blissings from the great white north! I'm subscribed now.
Heya Gina! Thanks so much for the compliment. Oh and I giggled when I realized that I probably say “Okedoke” quite often and don’t realize it 😁😁 🥲. Thanks for so much for visiting my channel, subscribing and helping me laugh at myself (it’s healthy!).
@@BBettaGarden Absolutely! Don't quit saying it. It's really cute, and with all the crap going on in this world today it's good to giggle cheers! love your channel.

Hey Sis! Thanks so much for checking my channel out, subscribing and commenting!
Everything looks great! Love how your garden is set up!
Thanks so much!
You did what I did last year when I first started out. We don't realize how BIG some of these veggies get during the grow process. Try artichoke. OMG those get HUGE! lol. Sending you love from a fellow gardener from AZ 9B gardening district! New sub!
You would think I would learn but I underestimate it every year 😃😃. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!!💚
Great garden. Thanks.
Thank you Susan!
Hi! Great video. Love how you have everything organized. It’s also obvious that you put a lot of thought into protecting what you grow, the cages are very functional and pleasing to the eye but the veggies still get plenty of attention:). Peace-
Hi! Thank you for watching and for leaving such a thoughtful comment 💚
How inspiring! Just beautiful and thanks for sharing.
You are so very welcome!
Love your container garden!
Thank you!💚
I am glad that I've found your channel. I am looking to change my container pot by my front door and put herbs in it instead of flowers...but I can hardly find any videos that have herbs as curb appeal. I love how yours look very appealing
Heya Kristi! Thanks for checking my video out and commenting! I have really enjoyed planting herbs in containers and the best place I’ve found is planting them near the door. Even if I’m elated in harvesting, they still look interesting 😁.
Beautiful ! So inspirational. I am about to start a new set of veggies this weekend
Thanks so much! I have some planting to do today to😊😊😊
Good morning from Nova Scotia, Canada 🇨🇦. Very nice garden and you have utilized your space for your garden very well. I am starting out this year using totes. Learning time. Have a wonderful day. 😊
Hi Michelle! Thank you and I’m wishing you the very best of luck with your garden this year. Take care! ~Batavia
Beautiful garden. Might I suggest stating more information on where you're growing, your grow zone, how long you've been gardening. I think this brings in the personal aspect. Best to you!
She said she's in Chicago zone 6 in the video.
Hi Lisa! Thanks for checking out my garden! And great suggestions, thanks!! ~Batavia
Thanks for the information 💐
You’re welcome!
Looking good Batavia! Can’t wait to see your potato harvest. Keep an eye out for those dang Colorado Potato Beetles!
Thanks Adrienne! Im on the hunt! Oh and some of the plants are flowering this year (they didn’t last year). I just may need to pull out some ‘new po-ta-toes’ ☺️☺️
Everything is Beautiful I love your garden setup I have a huge raised bed and container garden and a moderate size strawberry patch!
Thank you! I was just chatting about my strawberries. They are in a 4 x 4 bed and aren't producing much. It's year 3 for them :-/. How are your strawberries doing?
Girl i looove this you did well my first time watching, there are no excuses why we cant grow at least one corp that we love no matter the space am longing to find a permanent spot for my 21 container crop the pine is getting so big i dont want to give it away
Thank yo Donia!! And when folks realize how much better some things are when home grown. I don't think I had every really had a sweet bell pepper until I grew them. Wishing you a great garden season! ~Batavia
I’m late but hey fellow Chicagoan!
Heya Chicago neighbor!!
Soon as I heard Chicago I subscribed! I'm a beginner Gardner, this is my 3rd summer of growing a veggie/herb garden on my patio in containers. Thank you for your tips 🌱🙂
Chicago!!! 😁😁 I just love the flexibility growing in containers gives us!
Well organized and well put together!!!🪶🪶🪶
Thank you!💚
Omg I was watching while doing something else and when you said you planted something on 6/8 my first thought was that you were living in the future! 😂😂 I’m so impressed by your garden I hope you’re still at it. I just found you today. 🤗
Ha! How about I am replying on June 8th :-) Thanks so much for watching and commenting. It's also interesting that I have a video that came out today and my garden is a bit behind by comparison, but that's okay, I'm trucking along :-).
Hi, you have a wonderful garden. I just wanted to let you know that not all plastic containers are safe for food. The #5 on the bottom is safest, and there are a few other numbers, please check on line the chemicals that can leach into your food, not good!! I used large 92 litre plastic storage totes which is a 5 and I have build wood around a group of 8, to help slow down the breakdown of the plastic from the sun, as all plastic will break down in the sun over the years. It is great as I put a lip on the sides so I can sit and weed comfortably . Good luck with your garden this year.
Hi! Thanks for the tips! For the buckets, it’s easier where I get them from because they are food grade/from bakeries and things. Your tips are super helpful for the other container types. Hoping others see your comment too! Happy gardening! 💚
Lovely organization of your containers.
Heya Jackie! Thanks so much! ~Batavia
Every thing so nice and orderly, thanks for Showing
WOW! EVERYTHING LOOKS FANTASTIC!!
Thank you!!
Beautiful and organized garden love it,thanks for sharing👍I'm new to your channel.
Thanks for checking me out Gwen! ~ Batavia
Many, many containers here, mainly because our native soil is poor and has high pH (The substrate is limestone). We have some raised beds. Cedar chips over weed block fabric surround the beds and grow bags sit on the cedar chips for drainage. I'm in year 3 of a quest to overcome the Black Thumb I was born with.
Being able to grow in containers is such a treat. The only issue I continue to run into is getting the watered 😊. Wishing you a bounty this year!
Thanks for sharing your video! Your garden is beautiful. I’m a gardener too and I’m researching all the things I can grow in containers. I’m happy it led me to find you. I’m so happy it did your channel has so much to offer! This is very helpful. Thanks for teaching me something new. I hope we can learn more from each other as we grow our gardens and our channels! 💐🌸🌺🌻
So glad that you came across my channel! I am Uber curious about what grows well in containers vs in ground or raised beds. What I know for sure is peppers do great in containers! ☺️☺️. Have a great growing season!
