In the late 1950s/early 1960s, a friend of my older brothers dad worked in an old Kentish chalk quarry (now extinct), where he drove on 23" wide narrow track, pulling hundreds of tonnes of chalk out to join up with national railways for distribution. Chalk was used for paper production, amongst other things. My brother was allowed to ride in the cab of those mini tank engines occaisionally, but i was considered too young.

@@HenrysAdventures didnt know billing aquadrome had a mini railway but the NSoME is new to me
