    My favorite thing about the attention to detail with martial arts in this series is that as the show progresses you see that some of the team ends up incorporating different nations martial art skills into their own bending. Like when Katara blocked Hama’s attack using a earth bending stance. Hama was shocked by it. You also notice the that in republic city many of the benders are using mixed martial arts as now it is a nation of many cultures so people are evolving and learning new skills and techniques they never had before.

    • @The8thblock
      @The8thblock 2 роки тому +18

      tarlock (i cant remember which brother it was) also seemed shocked when Korra used a more traditional stance compared to the fast movements they seem to develop in her time. i think she used a solid stance when moving a wall behind him. it seems like the more mixed style in korras time is faster with less effective bending (by that i mean throwing smaller disks of earth as compared to lifting boulders that require a better stance), over the more traditional style of bending. i think bolin specifies that if korra keeps good solid stances (at least for pro bending) then she will be a sitting turtle duck, and to instead adopt a lighter footwork and getting solid only at the strikes.

    Corrections:
    - Circle walking is not a synonym of baguazhang, but rather its fundamental training.
    - Shadow boxing is not a specific word for taijiquan.
    - Taijiquan - "quan" is pronounced like "chwen," not "kwan." (Just like in "qinna" or "qigong" - any "q" actually)
    - Shaolinquan, xingyiquan, nanquan, changquan - ditto (don't say "kwan").
    Actually, both baguazhang and "northern Shaolin" are both very aggressive and very defensive.
    - Xingyiquan - I don't see any xingyiquan movements at all.
    - Northern mantis - I don't see anything here that looks particularly like northern mantis.
    - Kobudo does not have "of Okinawan" in its meaning; it means any kind of old martial art in Okinawa or Japan. (Also, why all the irrelevant Naruto clips here?)
    - Changquan - in real life, this is basically a synonym of "northern Shaolin."

Benders are no joke, but some of the most skilled warriors in Avatar can outsmart and outmaneuver benders in the right circumstances. Team Azula: Azula has her incredibly talented fire bending and ability to create and redirect lightening. But the other two are an assassin prodigy that is a master of knives and close combat martial arts, and the other is a fluid acrobat with the ability to temporarily prevent a bender from bending by blocking their chi and stiffing an opponents mortar functions in their muscles.

      Earth doesn’t allow growth. Growth comes mostly from photosynthesis, partially from minerals from the ground.
      The fire of the sun doesn’t feed the tree. The light from the sun is one component of photosynthesis which is the process of making food.

    What’s the difference between all the different styles of water bending ? Like northern southern and swamp

    • @Khrene
      @Khrene 2 роки тому +2

      Theres no record for South Pole style other than Hama's blood bending which takes from Puppetry.
      The difference between Northern and Swamp is that swamp style works with stagnate water, so instead of focusing on the flux and flow of moving water, they use larger - usually circular - motions to generate power.
      You can see the martial application when Katara fights the swamp bender. Notice she takes deeper stances, wider steps, and using more straight line tactics more like Shaolin.

    you got this a bit wrong. fire bending is hung gar (a branch of southern shaolin, made famous by Wong Fei Hong), Earth bending is wing chun (branch of southern shaolin made famous by bruce lee and yip man movies). Air bending is ONLY baguazhang, and not xingyiquan. though there is at least one branch of bagua that has roots in xingyi because it is the older style and bagua's founder only taught people that already mastered another style (one of which was a xingyi master). Water bending is taichi as you said.

    • @7swordquanta459

      Boxing can be good for Fire being a "hit fast, hit hard" combat style. This philosophy mainly embodies Fire.
      Wrestling is definitely Earth. Most techniques in it, if I'm not mistaken, would really focus on putting enemies to the ground.
      Capoeira is mainly Air IMO. The Capoeira user is often moving using their dance-like steps (similar to Baguazhang). And their kicks, while beautiful, are fast and hard-hitting.
