Awesome job. I watched your first time skating all the way to this vid and your progression is awesome. I started skating when I was a wee kid back in 1986, and had a Vision Mark Gonzalez, so other than tossing the skateboard on the ground and jumping on it while moving was pretty much all we could do besides low ollies. Our boards were tanks, and hard to do much other than dropins and ollies or tossers because I was like 70lbs in 1986 lol. I got an apartment in my early 20s at a place with the light rail (Sacramento) and Sac had a bunch of places downtown to skate so I got an updated board and learned kickflipping and stuff with that board. The smaller wheels always scared me because on the 1986 board our wheels were like 3x the size of the wheels on the new boards. That took a bit of getting used to. But into the 2000s in my early 20s I was skating again, and now I am in my early 40s and still know how to skate, but my bumps and bruises don't heal very fast anymore sadly, so other than skating with nephew I cannot do much of it anymore.
advice for kickflip: focus on your legs and feet to move them faster. fast feet are good feet in skating. keep visualizing yourself actually landing the kickflip throughout your day and really think what u need to do with your legs and feet to land it cleanly. this helps some people. it really helps to make your tricks high so both the board and you have more time in the air before the board hits the ground. so pop more, train your legs, any skater would take higher ollies and tricks any day. and again..... fast feet are good feet, tricks look the coolest when the skater does them high and fast. this might sound weird and unnecessary but if u train ur legs beyond skating then it will help, doing things like skipping rope, squats and calf training will make ur legs stronger and more coordinated. trust me, I've actually done this. anyway, I hope u will find this helpful :) land that kickflip, girl!
take it step by step then put them altogether. what helps me get close is doing the flick while im standing on the tail over and over again b4 i actually try to do the whole thing. practicing the flick that way helps for me. try landing it with front foot first. u got the back food landing down.
Hey, I'm a skate coach form the UK Your video got recommended. For kickflips it's really common for your flip foot to do what yours is doing. It's a fail safe, and our natural reaction to put the leading foot to the floor so we know we are safe. The main way to get past the habit of your foot trying to go to the floor first is to kick towards the nose for the flip, then upwards with your foot (i don't mean up the board, i mean upwards into the air so the front foot is higher than the back foot.) So the opposite of what is happening. It is a leap of faith as you have to trust that your foot will flip the board, go up into the air, and land on the board after. Keep aiming up after the flip motion and before long you should start to see a difference. It's just trying to understand that your are breaking a habit and making a new one for that front foot.
As your friendly neighborhood new skate youtuber on the block lol, I would recommend practicing the flick by itself just standing in place, jump from that position, and then pull your foot back onto the board. Practice this and try to do it faster and faster. This personally helped train my front foot to come back to the board and not go straight to the ground. I'm gonna upload a short about this drill soon. I feel like more people should know about it. Hope this helps!
Good question! On the day I filmed I started out with contacts but my eyes get super dry in them so I had to switch. If I’m doing lots of Ollie’s down the stairs I try not to wear glasses but so far they haven’t fallen off. Glasses are such an annoyance for skating LOL
Hi friends how’s it going!!

🔥🔥🔥
As a fellow kickflip learner it looks like you're flicking down which makes it impossible to land, try changing your technique to flick up and forward
i have the same issues with kickflips but its my back foot rolling as you do it helps a lot cuz its all in the motion dont stop the floww!
It’s so frustrating! I want to get them so bad!
You're making me want to come back to Waterloo
Come skate 🥺
I have the exact same problem with the kickflips, can you please tell me how u get them right ?
real question: isnt skating with glasses suuuper dangerous? love your videos btw!!
