    Great video. The rules look very interesting and easy to learn while providing ample strategic possibilities.
    Question: As the number bases influence the number of dice, what is the recommended way of basing units for this system? I am particularly interested in advice regarding 28 mm figures.
    I am thinking about 40 mm square bases (with 4 line infantry on it, which is an artistic choice of course).
    Thank you very much and I wish you all the best!

    Looks great, and I'm looking forward to playing. My only question is regarding force organization. If someone said to me, "This force is composed of 4 infantry brigades and an attached cavalry brigade", I would naturally think of it as corps, not a division. On the other hand, the "brigades" on the table are a bit small, almost more regimental in size. So, as a GM, if I have a classic division of 2 brigades, each of 6 battalions (2 regiments of 3 battalions each), is it better to organize it on the table (for the purposes of the best use of the rules) as 2 brigades, or as 4 "demi-brigades"?

    • @ruckandmaul5018
      @ruckandmaul5018 7 місяців тому

      Brigade size varies from 2 to 6 battalions. Across all armies brigades ranged from just two battalions right up to, as you say six battalions. Even some French fielded just two battalions per regiment, so four to the brigade. Basically it's flexible so as to accommodate all armies and all periods.

    When Rich’s troops retreated on the right after melee wouldn’t that unform the support behind them or has that changed? In GdA 1 the defeated soldiers would fall back straight for a distance and unform friends they contact. Great video

    • @ruckandmaul5018

      See 1.39 - the Grenz are unformed by the retreating unit - shown by placing the rear rank bases at an "disordered" angle or position.

    What size table is this? Also what size table would I need for a corps of 2 divisions?
    If you fight a historical battle I think it would be better to fight 2 or 3 battles and the player with the initiative chooses which section to fight first or the scenario states which order they are played, that way all the troops rush to don’t pile in to the battle map being played and it’s a walk over in the next 2 battles. I like the idea of each base being a company.
    Of course those of us that played with 20mm Hinton Hunt or Mini Figs will remember organising battles fought in 2 different rooms. But there has to be a better way.
    Fortunately I can still find my GdB scenario books.
    Some of the early battles may be interesting.

      With regard to the GdeB scenario books, I believe Dave's son Chris is working on revamping these to work with GdeA 2. As to how this info will be made available I'm sure there will be some form of announcement via Reiswitz in the near future.

      I’m pretty sure it’s 6 feet by 4. Rich said some time back that he wanted a typical table to play on, and anything larger might unbalance the play testing. I still use 1/72 plastics and Minifigs for GDA, using the 15mm ground-scale. Works fine with a “division” of 3 inf brigades + 2 cav brigades on each side on a table that is 6’6” x 6’, but any more might be a squeeze.

    Is a unit worn when it reaches 4 casualties or 6?.

      All units are worn at 6. However, when artillery reach 4 casualties they may no longer Assault Fire unless using a caisson.
