Im from Finland and been to VN five times due to my Vietnamese wife, visiting relatives and travelling around for a month each time. Been to Hanoi, Haiphong, Halong, Hue, Danang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Dalat, HCMC and Phu Quoc. Let me be clear on Vietnam: I just absolutely LOVE the country ❤️

Please beware of the downsides too, as not everything is sunshine and rainbow in current Vietnam, unfortunately. Under the utterly corrupt and brutal Vietnamese Commie regime, Hanoi is most polluted city in Southeast Asia, and that's one of the reasons Covid-19 have been killing way more Vietnamese than citizens of neighboring countries, as persistent pollution severely damage lungs and make them vulnerable to infections. The young, the old, and the handicaps are permanent 5th class citizens under Commie regime, as the disadvantaged members of the society are often taken advantages of by others with no safety net nor societal protection whatsoever (fairly common sights are tattered pre-teeny kids and old men and women in their 60's, 70's begging or selling lottery tickets on the streets), and almost everyone 95% of population get abuses by the utterly corrupt and brutal Vietnamese Commie regime as their lands can be robbed by it anytime. Even during the pandemic when most countries provided aids to their citizens, the ruling Vietnamese Commies not only didn't provide aids (only about 1% received them and those were usually the members of privileged Commie ruling class or their own associates. Yes, they took citizens' tax money to selectively give it to themselves) coordinated with each other to exploit the citizens even more with their dangerous nostril test kits (made by their shell company Việt á) that they falsely claimed of having been approved by World Health Organization (WHO). The result was deadly, as tens of thousands of people died needlessly. Yes, these ruling Vietnamese Commie lowlifes saw the pandemic as another great opportunity not to help but to make money out of the already indigent Vietnamese citizens most of whom could barely survive after being steered like animals by the brutal Vietnamese Commie military police into barbwired, unhygienic quarantined areas sleeping on the floors with inadequate food, water, toilet, beds, and medicine. All true. Do your research. Caveat emptor! Search for patients lying on concrete floors in hospital corridors and even under beds from Google Images. Torrential floods essentially all over the country half of the year, while HCM is a sinking city.
The development of Vietnam can really be said to be a miracle in the world, and the effectiveness of the tourism promoted by their government in recent years is obvious to all!
A smart government with a group of hardworking and optimistic people, has created the miracle of today's Vietnam!

Have insurance that covers you here immediately or have around 5 thousand USD. They hospitals will let you die unless they gets some payment first! Don't be fooled or mislead by all the glamour videos you see on here-they are only to gather views. I have been here 22 years and tell you it is dangerous to travel here and you need to drink bottled water. You will most likely get sick the first few weeks from the contaminated food and unsanitary conditions. Bring your own tissues as restrooms do have them. No need for a cup or comb because everyone shares the same ones.

Would love to see you go back and do the adventurous stuff like the multi-day caving like "Adventures of A+K" and "Tim and Fin" or visit the gorgeous caves like "Sammy and Tommy". There's also canyoning in Da Lat (lots of stuff to do there like tea/coffee plantation, alpine coaster, Elephant Waterfalls as well as Pongour Waterfalls, ride the olden day train to one of the most beautiful temples/pagodas in the area, clay city, the Maze Bar, etc.) Visit Cat Ba Island and Ba Be Lake.
As long as Vietnam is still ruled by the oppressive and exploitive Communist regime, her potential remains greatly diminished. For any 1% that wants to stay, 99% of the population wants to get out, and many have risked their lives doing just that (for example, 39 doomed lives found in UK container truck recently on the news, and that's only what's been reported), unfortunately. Murderous Vietnamese Commie regime even had a thug murdered Christian pastor Giuse Trần Ngọc Thanh, like it has done with many other pastors across the nation. There is a reason why the current Commie Vietnam ranks at the bottom of the world in freedom of speech, (true) freedom of religion, and freedom of the press, barely above Commie China and Commie North Korea. Search "cuop dat dan" (meaning "land-robbing of citizens") to see millions of footages across the country from North to South, spanning for decades, dated back to Ho Chi Minh's bloody land reform 1953-1956 that killed nearly 1 million North Vietnamese in only 4 years, or 250K people brutally slaughtered in torturous painful deaths (like being shot, stabbed, mutilated while being alive, or heads being plowed over by water buffaloes while bodies being buried underground) each year on average to rob their lands and homes. Travelers to Vietnam in her current form (not at all like this before the Communists took over) should keep this in mind. Behind the beauty of the land and smiling faces at popular tourist destinations, there are a lot of darkness and tears, bloods, sweats, sorrow, horror, and sufferings all over the country.

I’m a US traveler currently in VN, I’ve been all over the place, I’ve used all sorts of transportations, I’ve talked to foreigners as well as locals, I speak Vietnamese, and I agreed VN travel is cheap…besides that I often hear the complaints about the harsh weather, the pollutions, the floods, the sanitary, the bad attitude people, the price gouging, the downfalls of the economy, the closing down shops, most of all, the disappearing of the western tourists…I don’t mean to discredit your works, I just want to make sure those who watch have a better understanding of what’s really going on here besides the cheap beers, foods, hotel, etc.
you have to double check that thou.yes,vn has íts own issues but many vn mese just compare those to the western world and talking all sort of bad things.while for me,those issues are ,compare to the world, average at worst
Disappearing of western tourists...as in they were killed? That's a first as many foreign tourists, especially solo women travelers, mention how safe it is there. I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but plenty of vloggers love it (e.g. channels such as Jaychel (gorgeous video!), "Shot in the Dark Travels" (were in Thailand and came to Vietnam, loved it so much they kept making visa runs to make videos all over the country), "Adventures of A+K" (first time in Asia and said Vietnam exceeded their expectations), "Sammy and Tommy" (beautiful videos...even Sonny from the "Best Ever Food Review Show" left them a compliment), 2Passports 1Dream (must have loved it since they came back for a secret vacation they didn't film, I saw them in a video "Flora and Note" made on their 2nd time back to Vietnam...I think Brett also ran into them in his last visit to Vietnam), "One Pack Wanderers" are motorbiking the north now, etc.).
