God bless you and congratulations, God is good and all in His timing. I live in Maryland and I’m 70 years old on Sect.8. I too have dreams of one day owning a small home or nice condo. I just read on it and already took the 1st step of doing the workshop that starts on line in two weeks. I am a firm believer in Christ and I feel in my Spirit God is going to do something big. Amen..

WOW.....congrats! I'm also on Section 8 and waiting to start with the workshop in a few days. I can't wait. I'm 43 years old and have been living in the same apt since i was 7. I am soooooo excited but so nervous as well. But your story gives me hope!!!

What are you supposed to do when your Housing Authority refuses to help you with getting a section 8 choice voucher? We rent in federal, and I have asked 2 x now for help, and they ignore me. I am in Massachusetts.

Housing choice vouchers are hard to get in Philadelphi alone. There’s a waiting list you could be waiting for 20 years before you get section 8 voucher and other counties. You get in 2 weeks
Not for veterans and women with children. There is a priority list for families with children.

20 years later
So being on section 8 for 20 years and now given a house. Rewarding bad behavior. With section 8 your only required to pay 30% of your income towards rent they also cover your utilities. Meaning 70% of your income stays in your pocket. The highest expense we generally have is our living expense yet if your on section 8 you don’t have to worry about that. She probably paid less than $500 a month for rent and now she’s given a brand new home. When most people have to work hard she’s handed free stuff. This is what’s wrong with America
Its NOT Hers to sell or take out a mortgage on.....its just to keep her stable until she dies literally....and then the government can offer it to someone else on the Program

These programs are intended as an aid used to support messing assist not to be your sole provider. The problem is not what I’m saying the problem is thinking a handout is an accomplishment
