Kobe Bryant greatest games: 50pts vs Clippers - 40 in 2nd half (2006)

  • (2006) "Two-Face".
    When Kobe's frustrated, watch out. After serving a 2 game suspension, KB torched Phily for 48pts before playing the Clippers. Kobe has the capacity to make the last shot even if he missed his last 10, or scoring 30pts in the 4th after being scoreless in the 1st three.
    So here comes Mr Two-Face in this city rivalry. After a 10pt 1st half on 2 of 12 shooting, Kobe lead his team to a wild win, scoring 40pts after the break with 6 threes. Oh yeah, he made the game winner too.

    Kobe should be the definition of on fire, because when he get's it going there is no stopping him, and the difference between kobe and KD and Melo is that kobe can make the most difficult shots, he doesn't need to be open nor does he need any space, these guys do.

    kobe is the reason that being efficient is overrated. kobe was off during the beginning and start firing it up. wats the big deal missin shos early in a game if ur goin dominate later in games?

    • @TheRafaelBond
      @TheRafaelBond 7 років тому +1

      because you cant always bank on this type of second half, if he wouldnt have made the final shot, his disastrous efficiency would have killed them.... its not overrated simply because shooting 50% is more beneficial to a team than shooting 45%

    You must not know how to play basketball if you fail to realize how hard it is to drop 50, let alone 40. The most I've ever scored in highschool was 38 against a really good St.Mary's varsity team. And that was hard being doubled teamed and all that. The shots that Kobe was hitting are absolutely crazy. Only Kobe and Jordan can do this.

    But if you consider the fact that New Jersey in 87 (24-58), Denver in 92 (24-58), Orlando in 90 (18-64) or the Bullets in 92 (25-57) were great teams, we have an issue here!!

    I know, I see it, but Lebron is too passive in the 4th quarter. And he was already a pretty good defender with his size and stature alone. He still is an average jumpshooter and has alot of work to do. Kobe had a better killer instinct at his age and could finish games better than Lebron at his.

    Thos stats hide some part of the truth. You said that Most of Jordan 50pt games came vs team with a 50% winning record...you're right. BUT, for exemple, he scored 50pts vs Cleveland 5 times (in 88 & 90). Yes, it was a team with a 50% record BUT it was actually a combined 84-80 in those 2 years.
    So team with 50% record...yes; a Great team?? NO
    A 50% record doesn't make you a GREAT team.

  • @mamba9381
    @mamba9381  17 років тому

    On Jordan 39 50pts games (incl the playoffs),18 (so almost 50%) came vs teams with a bad winning percentage. You're going to call me an idiot & bla bla bla but check those stats:
    18 MJ 50pt games came vs teams with a combined 45% winning record. Yes!
    More precisely, 13 came vs 41% winning teams;
    6 of Jordan 50pt games were vs teams with a combined 31% winning record!!!! So bro, to say that 91% of Jordan 50pt games were vs great teams, it's just a joke.

  • @mamba9381
    @mamba9381  17 років тому

    I don't know if it was you or Bruce who donwplayed one Kobe scoring performance and said that the 64pts by Jordan vs Orlando was better, that Orlando was a great team and they have shaq....bla bla bla
    1st...Orlando was NOT a great team that year (41-41)
    2..... Shaq was no SHAQ yet...he was a rookie
    3....Jordan took 49 shots in that game
    4..... The Bulls lost.

  • @mamba9381
    @mamba9381  17 років тому

    YOU have no point here. Even if you love MJ, you have to be honest with the stats I've just given you. Those are not fake!
    I'm not saying that all Kobe 50pts games were vs great teams, all I said is 50% of Jordan 50pts games were notr vs great teams too.
    And to compare with Kobe, wait until KB match his 50pt games total.

    is he the the most skilled 1 on 1 player ever? when i mean most skilled, i don't mean the best. i mean maximising his just above average at the athleticism ( especially after 2002/2003 season ) his size , height, rules and playing trends of his era and the limiting confines of the triangle and countless variables, yes he is the most skillful 1 on 1 player. footwork, fadeaways, jab steps, pull up jumpers, left and right hand etc.. yea he can't leap off the gym like mj and lbj, he is not tall like kd, he is not a cheatcode like curry. but he played at an era when more and more freaky perimeter players an emerging. who is guarding MJ ?? bryon russell? dan marjerle ? maybe better.. dumars ?? its like they are at slow motion when watching mj hightlights . and who is guarding kobe . freaks of nature. its just more pleasing to the eye to see someone pirouetting his way to score a bucket than someone who score easily using speed height size.
    IMO his peak season in terms of overall athleticism, playing with speed, going to the bucket and breaking down defences with ease was his 2000/2001 season. Lakers would not have a near perfect record without him destroying the kings and spurs and shaq was coasting. jerry west himself said the suns series in 2010 was the best he ever saw kobe played since 2001 playoffs
    people underestimate his influence on the irvings and paul georges , Derozans , westbrooks and KDs. when the nba game shift to a perimeter game, there is an influx of skillful , multi facet and athletic wing players? guess who they are watching when they are middle to high school period? when mini fro kobe was 3 peating , they are at grade school..when the mamba was scoring 81, they are at some basketball court in the neighbourhood, hoisting fade aways after fade aways..
    P.S - always felt that in terms of natural talent , of course lebron and mj were superior. but one only has to look at Tmac to understand how kobe squeeze out every ounce of his potential....

    somehow i dont see your comment here again, but anyway. what im doing is what everybody should, look at the big picture, HOW he got those games, lebron if he wanted could post 30+ all 82 games long, and 40-50 in 40 of them, kobe cant, only by taking 30+ shots...win shares are a flawed metric, kobe doesnt have the most playoff points, jordan does, kareem is 2nd, kobe 3rd. also, 7-28 in playoff game winning and tying shots in the last 24 seconds, the epitome of choke, no need to bring up most gw's

    where the hell is your comment? anyway, you do know this is one of those bricklaying 40+ pt games? 50 in fact...its INSIGNIFICANT when putting his entire career in perspective?? LOL
    why? please educate me on that.... lets be real, scoring is his thing, thats what he does and only does, so he gets his reputation based on these 40 and 50pt games, making these facts obviously even MORE SIGNIFICANT. i made my argument and backed it up, your turn.

    Umm yeah the suns were really good at the time. and houston were pretty good also.
    umm no ???????? kobe NOW is a better scorer, passer, leader and playmaker. His overall play is way better than fucking wade who only gets passes from lebron for easy layups.
    Kobe still gets double teamed like in 2006, meanwhile wade is given all the airspace he needs.

  • @TheRafaelBond
    @TheRafaelBond 11 років тому

    its not weak, because its not shotjacking if you make them, shotjacking=bricklaying, kobe isnt allowed to shoot more, that would be a fkn travesty and cancer for the team, it already has been to some degree..
    aha, LeBron 5-12 in playoff gw+gt shots last 24 seconds,,,, id like to hear your thoughts on that lol

  • @TheRafaelBond
    @TheRafaelBond 11 років тому

    oh yea i guess 17-41 is COMPLETE FINE.... as ig 24 missed shots=24 failed possessions would hurt your team... no problem... no player has ever shot 10% when taking 40+ shots, but, kobe has the worst % and most misses in 40+ shots games ever, this one, and his 17-47 against the celtics 2003.....GODBE

    LeBron and Bosh can carry wade so that somehow makes him better than Kobe? He has 2 other all stars to depend on, one of the best shooters of all time in Ray Allen, Former all star Rashard Lewis, Shane Battier all to carry him. Yet you think that makes him better than Kobe? At what point in this season has Wad had to put his team on his back? He hasn't. Yet this is what Kobe has done his entire career, which you can see on this channel
    Not ONE single NBA analyst would agree with you.

    my comment is below yours i see it as kobe was like a little kid bursting to get out of class at the end of the day he had so much bottled up energy playing as a second option having others hinder him from playing to his full potential that he exploded in a way of shot attempts possesions it was something new to him that he hadnt experienced before and so he went trigger happy in a way so much freedom the first few years but settled down and began to mature...

    i will say this i think MJ is better because he was a smarter player. MJ knew the game better! now kobe has more range behind the 3 point line and jordan was just a quicker player. kobe is not as fast as jordan. Jordan was better going to the basket. post game jordan to me has the edge not with skills but because jordan was again a smarter basketball player. kobe is a beast when he gets hot from behind the 3. see thats the thing kobe needs to get hot but jordan did it when he felt like it.

    Last post...I just wanted to make sure I addressed all of your points...the point about the footwork is kind of subjective as well. Anybody who destroyed opponents in the post the way that Mike did can't hardly be considered second fiddle in the footwork department but again, when comparing the two, I can't see anything related to footwork that Kobe did that Mike didn't do. Even the reverse pivot spin that Kobe did against the Knicks; Mike did that against the bullets and hit off the glass.

  • @81gwarren
    @81gwarren 12 років тому

    And yes there was also a period of time where Mike was no longer the athletic beast that he was and still dominated so that is not an advantage that Kobe has. Let's just keep in mind that as similar as they are to one another, they still went about using aspects of their games diffrently and though either one may not have used the exact same methods all of the time, it does not mean that one could not do what they the other did. My only point was that the things that Kobe did, Mike did as well

  • @81gwarren
    @81gwarren 12 років тому

    at scoring with his left. He had many finishes with his left hand. Third, I will admit Mike was not a lights out three point shooter early on but as it stands MJ retired shooting 32% from three while Kobe is currently a career 33% shooter. Not much difference there at all. Fourth, Mike's hands were extremely large (one handed ball fakes) and Kobe and Mike both 6'6 6'7 so I don't know how Kobe's frame is larger than MIkes and if that is so how that even makes him better.

  • @81gwarren
    @81gwarren 12 років тому

    ok, I can appreciate your comments because it sounds like you actually pay attention to the game and don't talk out of your head. Though I will start by saying that he has the greatest work ethic in NBA history is extremely subjective and there is no way of measuring that. Second, If you watch a playoff game against the Knicks in 93...game four in which he scored 54 points, MJ twice jab stepped from beyond the three point line and drained two threes in Stark's face. Third, MJ was very adept

  • @Clutch3Ball
    @Clutch3Ball 12 років тому

    - Ability to jab step behind the three-point line, pull up for the three and swish it in a defenders face.
    - The Yo-Yo Move.
    - Most complete footwork and deceptive moves in his offensive arsenal.
    - Flawless ambidexterity even from mid-range.
    - Ability to score from ANYWHERE on the floor. (MJ was a weak three point shooter most of his career)
    - Dominating without being the most athletic guy (40 inch vertical at best), having huge hands or a wide body frame or being the fastest guy out there.

    @MJrealhiphopandkobe well... generally people tend to get personal when it comes to their stars.... it exists in most sports where there are sports fans. Personally, my assessment on Kobe vs Mj or whoever vs whoever, does not really matter. All i know is Kobe and other great players alike made me really enjoy the game of basketball not just as an fan but as a casual player as well. Kobe is no doubt no lesser than the next 'jordan' nor is he greater.Really, there is no GOAT. until bb dies...

    Why do people have to say fuck Jordan Kobe's the best with his 81, or Fuck Kobe Cryant Jordan's the god of basketball. In the end if effects none of us and we gain nothing from who's better but their still makin their millions of dollars not givin a shit what any of us have to say, Kobe's multi amount of games with 60+ points are truely jaw dropping, but Jordan's leadership and overall basketball skills on both sides of the court are arguably best ever, to me, both these guys are legends.

    Good lord,how any basketball fan could find the words to hate on this guy just amazes me.I mean the footwork,the focus,the ability to receive the "quickening"is very different from going into the so called zone,he got his from slaying MJ in their final battle,same as MJ slayed Bird and Magic.Only those who seize power from another Great One can achieve this level of skill.Any player pro or otherwise that has ever been in a zone knows he aint never been hot like this over and over again.

    Very bad performances?? In 2000?? With the exception of Game 5(5/20), he didn't have any horrible performances.
    Game 1 he shot 50% and had 15 points
    Game 2 he played 6 minutes before getting hurt.
    Game 3 he didn't play.
    Game 4 he played hurt, shot 14/26 from the field and got the gamewinner WHILE BEING INJURED!
    Game 6 he went 10-27 and hit big shots in the 4th quarter.
    They definitely needed Kobe in 2000. Don't let the stats fool you.

    The thing with Kobe is, Kobe doesn't look to get open shots. He likes taking the toughest shots in the league and even Phil Jackson mentioned that. Michael liked to get open and could hit tough shots, but Kobe looks to take tough shots all the time. Two different players, similiar mentality.
