Great tip! I just use a 3/8" wood dowel. Fits right into the drill. Tie the line on the dowel and STRIP.

Always remember to cut up your old fishing line into small pieces before throwing it away!
It could get wrapped around birds or other animals if you don’t!

Your comment is always worth mentioning! Some sporting goods stores will recycle it for you. I usually keep my old line in a gallon ziploc untill it is full and then take it in for recycling.

I keep old spools and fit them over a drill bit. The spool is larger than my reel so the line comes off even faster. Also easier to save if I don't intend to disgard.

PVC management tip- I use a piece of coated copper electric wire and run my fittings through the wire then twist the wire together making a loop. You can use a wire coat hanger if you don't have the coated wire. I separate them by size and type. So I have a box (milk crate actually) with all my pvc fittings in it separated by wire. I just grab a wire, untwist and pull off what I need. No more digging through the box looking for what you need.

I had made some spool De-liner. It pults off the line with a drill the same way, but it open in the middle you can cut the line into spaghetti size pieces so nothing can get tangled in it.

I use a large wood drill bit and about 7 inches of pool noodle.
Also how I flip and or back my braid of my surf rods.
I put on 150 yards of braid then top off the reel with mono on bulk roll. Then flip it by reeling it all up on a piece of pool noodle, then reel it up on another piece of pool noodle, then back on the reel.
Just have to insure that the uni knot from mono to braid is on the bottom of the spool or it will make a hump on the spool and catch when you cast.

    Metal dowel, blow torch.
WhoallaH! Saved the dolphins at the same time, efficient and super quick.
Or, any other way y’all say is good too.
There are many ways. Find something that makes it fun for you.
Do it more often. Make fishing more fun and find yourself doing it more.
    Better line, better time 🌵🧀🎣

I do something similar when stripping line.
    3 concerns with your method:
    1. Set the torque low on the drill (safety).
    2. Use something longer that what is shown here to keep line away from drill chuck.. Line can get wrapped underneath the chuck collar on the drill.
    3. Never use your fingers to guide line with this method (safety).
I simply chuck a wooden dowel into the drill. You can throw it away, slide the line off, or cut it with a razor blade/sharp knife.
I also wear gloves in case a finger gets wrapped up. Braid can literally cut to the bone.
Why not make a drill chuck adapter that steps up to a larger diameter/longer pvc pipe? Spray a little lube on a girthy pipe, and watch that line slide off!

Instead of running a bolt through a pvc plug, I ran one through the cap of a 16 oz soda bottle. Coke bottles have a nice contour for collecting line. Just attach to your drill and you're off to the races. When you get done stripping one reel, just throw some duct tape over the line and bottle. Repeat for many reels until the bottle is full. At that point, you can throw it away as one compact unit and re-use the bolt/cap on the next bottle.

I may have to re-visit this video the next time I'm re-spooling reels!
Any thoughts on making the inner piece able to fit a restroom tissue roll somewhat loosely, so the whole thing can just come off in an instant and be thrown out or recycled?

My buds and I have a much easier trick than both those options and I'm gonna share... A TWIG... kinda of like a slingshot from the cartoons or the capital letter "Y" ? Or like the old stick in the mud when fishing with a bobber and bait. By hand first, wrap a little line around the twig (towards the top of the "Y" so it won't slip off,) then with a drill, or even your fingers at the bottom of the twig (granted with fingers it's a slightly slower method) SPIN IT! AND when done, toss the line and twig, no need to remove it. Been doing this for 40plus... try it!

Grab a small throw-away stick, pencil, or branch that will fit into your drill. Unwind the line onto the stick. Melt the line into a sticky mess-on-a-stick using a propane torch before cooling it off and tossing in the trash.

I use a similar method with the drill. But instead of the PVC I use a plain old wooden dowel from Walmart and cut it at about 4 inches long chuck it in the drill and spin it off. Throw it away when done. Also never use your fingers to guide the line, it'll cut you! I use the tip off a broken rod.
