Part Two of two short travel videos. The color balance may be off, the resolution poor - but these images from my May 1982 visit to western China and to the "Autonomous Region" of Xinjiang portray a very different part of the country. Islam came to this part of China in the 10th Century. In the 1980's in the aftermath of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) all religion was experiencing a revival. We visited at this time Urumchi, Turfan (Turpan), Bezeklik, Gaochang and areas around the Taklamakan Desert. So much has changed since 1982.
