- Let's DO IT LIVE! The antique shop had a small shoe box of silver age comics. I thought I'd make a transparent video showing how I'd make an offer on something like this!

You paid a very fair price. It would be an interesting video to take the same books to a couple different shops to see what they would offer.
I'd watch that video for sure.
Oh man that’s a great idea
A very generous offer. Made someone happy for sure!
An interesting collection. I find the retail price is a bit high, but if you can get it, good for you.
Honestly the average silver age book here I was placing at $10, I NEVER see that. This same stuff, at least near me and on eBay, goes for $20, $30, $40 and on and on!
60% is quite generous, especially when you mentioned having to press a few of the books.
So much DC goodness lately 😎
Indeed
Always interesting to get silver age comics in any condition. You paid a fair price to gain some vintage inventory. Even the few you dumped aside are still worth a buck or two as reading copies. Imagine all the comics that got trashed. So gaining any poor condition comics of that era are still good to get.
Love how you broke down your way of buying a collection, Would love to see you do it on a bigger one in the future, Also very far pricing. I'm sure the Batman will sell right away.
You were very generous with your offer. The only comic I liked out of that was the Aquaman. 🤠
Loving the transparency!
That was a generous offer. You did the person a favor and I hope they understand that one day
Don’t I know it!
You just have to be mindful that people don’t start expecting the same all the time… charity begins at home.
James, you truly represent the best of the best in this hobby. A great representative and ambassador who understands that everyone has their favorites and they are no less or more important than anyone else’s. I’m guessing the guy who left this box for you loved all the comics in it and with your video and offer you substantiated and validated his affection for them. Well done, man!
Very good offer definitely better than comic shops would of gave them!
MUCH better!
Really cool to see you go through the process.
detective comics 320 is one of my favorite stories! dc made a short animation on it too
It's really helpful to see your thought process on the offers you make
Appreciate what you do! Keep up the good work!
Thank you!!!
I'll buy all the Batman from you right now lol
Hit me up on my instagram!
Appreciate you sharing your process!
This is a super neat collection!
It was a welcomed surprise!
I must say, that wonder woman issue looked real presentable. I would have bought it after a little pressing if i was in you shop.
Good to know!
Independent cleaning and pressing costs are almost as much as grading costs. There's a huge difference between raw and graded. I almost think your to kind because of the time and skill needed
Very generous. 👍🏼
I thought so too
Great look inside the process!
Thanks!
First time I've heard of a "Giant Size bag " ---
Reader's crease? Or subscription crease?
Subscription crease! Sometimes I forget how to talk once I start recording lol
@@MintHunterComics I understand. I assume you had misspoke.
Surprisingly, you paid such a high price. An offer of about twenty dollars seemed reasonable as the books were beaten up. I would have passed on that box personally. This is based on my experience as a regular at a local show. Superman-related Silver Age books sat even when priced only at a few bucks. Batman moved better on the coattails of the 1989 movie. Punisher, Wolverine, X-Men, and Spider-Man were the big movers at the time, as well as the newly released hot book de jour. This was over thirty years ago, and during a nasty recession, Times and markets have significantly changed.
Judging 'comparables' from over 30 years ago doesn't really seem to be logical when determining prices. 😂
@@Sinsightful Indeed!
Possibly, I honestly wanted to be at $50 but I think I felt the pressure by recording it hahahahaha
@@MintHunterComics You are a good source of information. Thank you for all the fine videos.
Great video ! What was the app you was using to look up keys and value ?
Key Collector, recent eBay sols, gocollect
With all of the cleaning and pressing; basically, all of the time and/or money that would have to be spent on these books, I would offer $20-25.
That’s a lowball I think
Comic Karma will take care of you for giving a good deal on these
Thank you!
Thanks for the video
Thanks Triple!
Cool stuff, James 😎
Thanks!
You gave him a very good deal.
I think I paid high. I would normally want to pay $50 but I think I felt extra pressure having recorded this 😆
@@MintHunterComics You're generous and I see it returning to you on a regular basis.
I wish I was within driving distance to come to the shop😭
Me too!
Very insightful though all of those books seemed super rough conditionwise. Thanks for sharing.
The first 5 were “super rough” the rest were fine
Seems good deal to me.
Indeed
Which app were you using to determine if the item was a key?
Key collector
Dibs on the Batman and Detective Comics
Someone already wanted em I’m afraid!
*_Are you really spending time on pressing books you intend to sell Raw for $8???_*
*_You should have books in your presses 24/7, books you intend to send to CGC/CBCS, not rags you might make a few dollars on._*
In previous vids, he has stated that his bread and butter money making comes from his $5-$20 claims. If you have the crowd and the hustle then you can make it work.
Probably not, but they could benefit so heavily from a quick press that’s it’s hard not to!
Do you live in Florida?
I think I am under valuing my comics in my sales :/
tree fiddy
Huh?
$3.50
South Park reference. @@MintHunterComics
thats about what they r worth @@jamesbrooks9116
You over paid imo?
I think we’re just all so used to comic shops giving us nothing for our books lolol
Yes lol
Seems like an overpay.
Possibly, I honestly wanted to be at $50 but I think I felt the pressure by recording it hahahahaha
Hope you do a follow up but understand that’s tough with these small books. At my antique mall we pay a commission so even with retail seems like a low ROI. I get the video induced stress though :)
