  • #Harlequin #Peacock (Indian #Pied or #Indian #Blue Pied) is one of the most common spaldings. The main distinguishing feature of the Harlequin peacock is the colorful coloring of the plumage. The white "spots" are usually located on the chest, neck, head and wings of the bird, forming in combination with the main color something like a "marble" pattern. The term "spalding" is usually used for offspring obtained from the crossing of two main types of peacock - ordinary (blue) or green and white. Such hybrids are completely stable and fertile, i.e. able to have their own offspring. As ensued from their name (Indian Pied), Harlequins look more colorful and catchy compared to the noble beauty of ordinary peacocks. They are no different from non-hybrid individuals in terms of keeping and breeding. Many breeders like the peacock Harlequin for its endurance, unpretentiousness and pied coloring.
